For Women Scotland - Public meeting on Women's Rights in Scotland - Edinburgh, 31/1/19

On Thursday 31 January, For Women Scotland are holding their first public meeting in Edinburgh.

There'll be information on and discussion of the current situation in Scottish schools, councils, hospitals, prisons and any other areas affected by the ongoing erosion of women's rights and the undermining of safeguarding.

There's been a lot of interest and quite a few of the tickets are gone already, in just 24 hours. If any of you wish to go, you can book your ticket here. (The price covers the costs of the group as no-one funds us but us.)

As always, the venue will be announced on the day.

When I went to my first women's rights meeting (WPUK) on Valentine's Day last year, I was a little unsure and worried about going. Some wonderful women reached out to me here on Mumsnet and helped me feel welcome and reassured, so now it's my turn:

There's a rather earnest young woman trying to argue that Cathy is only doing this because Cathy is so oppressed and vulnerable while women are so privileged. It's actually heartbreaking that well meaning girls are putting violent bullying male bodied people (or, as Cathy claims a "none passing transwoman" - could it be the beard?) ahead of themselves and other women. There's weapons grade gaslighting and guilt tripping being done to young women here.

Female socialisation in the young is quite a thing Alice, so many young women seem to set great store by being nice and kind above all else - I know I did when I was younger and it's taken a looong time to even be aware of it let alone confront and try and dismantle it so although I get infuriated by those girls I also recognise I may well have been one of them and that it comes (mostly) from a good place. Hopefully they will come to see the light...

As for Cathy with their entitlement, privilege and male biology that can be seen from space, I will be combating h* and h* ilk and their bs agenda until the bitter end - pretty much like a middle-aged saggy-titted harridan version of The Terminator

This "you're trying to kill us" rhetoric really gets up my nose. I must have been distracted on Thursday when the talk turned to violence. Oh, hang on, it didn't.

Facts maybe it was code and all that stuff about respecting human rights and defending anyone at risk of discrimination will be revealed, when played backward and put through witch translator, as violent incitment to lynch Cathy.

Or not.

I see people on Twitter, including Rosa, asking how Cathy could possibly have come to that conclusion which Cathy has posted as "evidence" of how evil they all are and how it's too scary to leave the house. This from the person who thinks writing "fuck them up", "beat them up","Make them afraid","punch a terf" is perfectly justified.

Just saw on facebook that apparently because of protest the organisers had to increase the level of security at the hotel. They are asking if anyone could maybe help.
