On Thursday 31 January, For Women Scotland are holding their first public meeting in Edinburgh.

There'll be information on and discussion of the current situation in Scottish schools, councils, hospitals, prisons and any other areas affected by the ongoing erosion of women's rights and the undermining of safeguarding.

There's been a lot of interest and quite a few of the tickets are gone already, in just 24 hours. If any of you wish to go, you can book your ticket here. (The price covers the costs of the group as no-one funds us but us.)

As always, the venue will be announced on the day.

When I went to my first women's rights meeting (WPUK) on Valentine's Day last year, I was a little unsure and worried about going. Some wonderful women reached out to me here on Mumsnet and helped me feel welcome and reassured, so now it's my turn:

Feel free to DM me if you are worried about going on your own, I'm happy to chat any time and also willing to meet you beforehand.

Hope to see you there!

Has anyone brave thought about advertising it on EGG? Just a thought.

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 28/01/2019 10:15

I wish I could come but DH is away and I have no childcare Sad.

I went to the WPUK meeting last February and it was brilliant to get together with so many like-minded women.

ForwomenScot · 31/01/2019 00:31

Thanks to all who have bought tickets and supported this event. Tickets have now sold out.

We are so looking forward to seeing everyone for a fantastic event in Edinburgh. Smile

PissedOffWoman · 31/01/2019 00:43

@CharlieParley have pm'd you.

goodthinking99 · 31/01/2019 07:53

Really pleased it has sold out, I can't go due to childcare and work stuff but will be there in spirit and watching the twitter feeds. Have a great night and good debate.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 31/01/2019 08:42

please post on here to let us know how the meeting goes. I live about as far a way from scotland as it's possible to get, but the thought of feminist women meeting up warms my heart

hope everyone has a fantastic and productive time tonight

LangCleg · 31/01/2019 10:08

Good luck, women.

LatinforTelly · 31/01/2019 10:39

I have got a ticket but I'm not sure whether I'll make it now - juggling childcare. When will we be told where it is, do you think? Will eventbrite email us?

morningtoncrescent62 · 31/01/2019 10:54

I'm beginning to be anxious about finding out where it is. I thought there would be an email via Eventbrite but nothing yet. Don't want to miss it!

Just to add, if you do know, probably not a good idea to post it here. But if others are still waiting for their email that would be reassuring.

2rebecca · 31/01/2019 11:07

No email yet ? being sent middle of day. I think that's when they've been sent before to give enough time to get there but not give our harassers too much time.

LatinforTelly · 31/01/2019 11:45

Yes agree not to post it here. But I've not had any email yet. Will post when I have (but not the location!) I so want to be there but think it may be too difficult. (No access to emails now til 2ish anyway).

SuffragettesStruggledForThis · 31/01/2019 12:11

I've gotten an email now.

Just to ask, these aren't a formal sort of events? Casual wear is fine?

2rebecca · 31/01/2019 12:18

yes wear what you want. I'm coming from work so will be skirted but otherwise would have been in leggings or jeans

ForwomenScot · 31/01/2019 12:26

Emails have now been sent to all ticket holders with the venue details. As said above, would appreciate if you could keep it under your hat!

Ereshkigal · 31/01/2019 12:33

At least they will be silent!

Ereshkigal · 31/01/2019 12:34

But solidarity with all those attending Thanks

WokeNotBloke · 31/01/2019 12:50

Presumably they bought a ticket. It’s difficult to stop people intent on this sort of action.

WokeNotBloke · 31/01/2019 12:53

It’s also very cold here today. It’s a day for sitting by a cosy fire, rather than congregating in a chilly public square 90 minutes before a 2 hour event. I hope they have their thermals on 😳
