Apologies if this has already been posted. Did a quick search and didn't find anything.

Michael Conroy attended and recorded a mermaids training session. It's hair raising listening.

I believe that someone is working on transcribing this, which will hopefully make it easier to analyse. But wanted to post it to make sure it hadn't been missed.

Ha Pencils! She is really, really pissed off with him by Part 2.

I have also been struck by how much she talks about 1% of people being trans and then how they're everywhere - and a kid's school, church, social circle, etc is probably replete with trans kids.

Except 1% is TINY. In my son's massive secondary school, that will mean 5-6 kids? I don't know why I'm surprised by this disconnect but I found it very irritating. Also the amount of dedicated training being delivered for such a tiny percentage of the cohort. Have schools had LGB training? Training for how to deal with BAME kids who probably make up 10% of the population? If not, why not?

PencilsInSpace · 19/12/2018 21:29

Because LGB and BAME kids don't need to trample all over anyone else's rights. 'People are all different so don't be a shit' covers it mostly these days.

It's only if your rights are dependent on another disadvantaged group losing their own rights that you have to embark on a hefty programme of (re)education.

My thoughts also. What about children with autism/ADHD? Girls with mental health problems (a massive percentage now)? School refusers? Is there indepth, whole school training being delivered on how best to support those children? I can't even get my DC's school to deliver up to date, relevant sex education in yet they are expected to make time for Mermaids propaganda exercise.

ChewyLouie · 19/12/2018 23:44

Jelly baby- why are they dragging jelly babies into all of this? Hope they leave wine gums alone, that would really cheese me off!
Ps big thank you to the transcribers am looking fwd to reading it too 💐

starcrossedseahorse · 19/12/2018 23:50

Pencils, please accept my apologies for only thanking Orchid earlier, both of you are doing sterling work that I couldn't face. Flowers

Annandale · 20/12/2018 07:02

Cannot wait to understand the jelly baby relevance.

Dragon3 · 20/12/2018 07:35

Pencils and Orchid thank you so much for transcribing this Flowers

Birdsfoottrefoil · 20/12/2018 08:29

Not listened (can’t bare to). But in my mind it is the cast of W1A doing that Jellybaby bit...

AspieAndProud · 20/12/2018 08:39

Except 1% is TINY.

1% is huge compared with the actual numbers.

If the numbers were correct there would be 3 or 4 on my street; two in each crowded train carriage I get to work each morning.

I’d notice.

RedToothBrush · 20/12/2018 09:41

Because her brain jelly baby and her biology jelly baby are in alignment.

WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. FUCK?

This passes for training and education?

WallyTheWasher · 20/12/2018 09:58

I so hope they come into my workplace. It’s a male-dominated environment and most women here tend to be of the straight-talking variety.

*The erase of transexualism and dysphoria as medical conditions was equally concerning.
Imagine if I said that clinical depression was an outdated term and from now on you just had to use the term "sad"....and anyone that ever felt even slightly sad came under the label. Instead of the x thousand people diagnosed with depression we now have x million people under the new sad umbrella. What happens to those with genuine clinical depression ? *

Full of meds today and a bit fuzzy but this post stood out for me, they really are happy to throw everything and everyone under the bus for validation aren't they.

nauticant · 20/12/2018 10:37

If the figure is 1% then there are 600,000 trans people in the UK. Since in recent years, the murder rate of trans people has been 1 per year, that means their risk, per year, is 1 in 600,000 or 1.67 per million.

Government statistics:

There were 9.9 offences of homicide per million population, and the homicide rate for males (13.8 per million population) was more than twice that for females (6.0 per million population).

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 20/12/2018 11:11

Jelly babies? Barbie?

My 15 year old could deliver better training than that.

How embarrassing.

Bittermints · 20/12/2018 11:49

Are the jelly babies the little figures on the spectrum graphic? They look like no jelly babies I've ever seen, but it makes about as much sense as any of the rest of it.

Reminds me of that very funny Twitter account whose handle escapes me but they tweet, or did (may well have been banned) things like:

Jelly babies are real babies!
Sea horses are real horses!

Re the intellectual level of the training, is it the Dunning Kruger effect? Do they really think this is clever stuff that withstands scrutiny?

WallyTheWasher · 20/12/2018 12:43

Am I right in thinking that the training is in the process of being transcribed or is it posted somewhere and I’ve missed it ?
Can not wait to read it and die laughing

Sarahconnor1 · 20/12/2018 12:54

Blatantly placemarking for the transcript.

OrchidInTheSun · 20/12/2018 12:56

Its been transcribed and now it's being pulled together into one document. It's very long so not really suitable for a post on here so it will be a doc link. Please bear with us Smile

starcrossedseahorse · 20/12/2018 13:01

Flowers to the transcribers. You are wonderful.

Wordthe · 20/12/2018 13:07

Thank you for your good work transcriber 😎

VickyEadie · 20/12/2018 13:15

Fucking "jelly baby" nonsense.

starcrossedseahorse · 20/12/2018 13:29
