Jean’s thread on this on Twitter is shocking. Sounds like paranoia gearing up to incitement. The tone of this, compared with the tone of the discussion in women’s meetings is a stark warning.

If you’re reading this Jean, please take care.

if you're from a working class background you probably know prison far too well. Because that's where we go,

What???

They think all working class people go to prison?

They seem more and more deluded the more I hear.

And yes to them having everything backwards. We’re trying to protect women in prison. Everything about their agenda disgusts me. That’s the sentiment I feel reading that.

Well done transcribers!

Melamin · 03/12/2018 15:27

That's amazing! It must have been a fascinating evening for someone Hmm but thank you to the transcribers I don't have to go!

I don't think the likelihood of going to prison is a definition of working class, somehow. It is funny how a group who get all shirty if you so much as mention anything to with criminality in a near breath to transgender, are so keen to tar a large section of the country with gross generalisations.

Bowlofbabelfish · 03/12/2018 16:23

The science bit is painful to read. Do they not have even a combined science GCSE between them? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Fascinating transcript.

'Joshua's' version of the assault on Maria Mac Angry (edited for MN):

And this becomes especially important when we think about the way that the Ts are willing to appeal to the criminal justice system to do their work for them, like, I'm sure that some of you are aware, or maybe all of you are aware of what happened at Hyde Park Corner last September? Where there was - so there was A Womans Place UK event, and there was an altercation outside of it. The Ts called the police, the police came by, the - I dont know there was like someone pushed someone, I dont know, they were like 'this is a waste of our time, we see worse than this at Weatherspoons literally all the time', they drove away, got on with their day. The TS like, paid to have pictures like of some of the trans women that they identified put in the local - in local newspapers around London? To identify people. And one trans woman unfortunately was identified and because the Ts lobbied the cops so much, she ended up being taken to court with charges of common assault? And fortunately you know, she didn't end up in prison, she got a fine, not that she should have got anything, but - so literally the T*s know - they know what happens to trans women in prison and they lobbied for this woman to go to prison. So you know, they can say that they are just trying to be reasonable and reasoned as much as they want but behind that is a very deeply violent rhetoric.

Katvonblackdeath · 03/12/2018 16:41

I'm struck again by them ignoring audience member 19. Trans mum. Who speaks well.

They don't listen to reason, even reason from their own side. Every time they've not let women speak it's been a massive own goal. But they are too blinkered? Nuts? To realise.

Well done transcribing team

BitterAndOnlySlightlyTwisted · 04/12/2018 09:54

"Do they not have even a combined science GCSE between them? "

I have very serious doubts about whether they share a single brain-cell between them

Ereshkigal · 04/12/2018 09:56

Doesn't really sound like it, does it?

hackmum · 04/12/2018 10:55

What strikes me most is that they really seem to believe this shit. I'd always assumed that when they got together on their own, they'd let the mask drop. Perhaps there is no mask!

Freespeecher · 04/12/2018 11:26

Yes, there are a few puppeteers in there but mostly useful puppets (to paraphrase Churchill).

UpstartCrow · 04/12/2018 12:32

I don't believe they really believe what they are saying. One of the speakers seems to have connections with a well known university theatre group. Many of the speeches/''questions'' sounded scripted and staged.

AnchorMum · 04/12/2018 13:03

Thank you so much transcribers Thanks

I read it all with my mouth increasingly hanging open.

With the exception of a couple of audience members, they sounded like a gang of 13 year olds out of their depth during a rather too challenging improv session at their Saturday morning drama group.

No grip on facts or reality, no political acumen, no emotional intelligence. Utterly childish rhetoric and paranoid delusion.

Melamin · 04/12/2018 13:05

S'funny - just finished watching The Little Drummer Girl last night Confused LOL Grin Strange parallels.

I'm not at all sure whether or not they believe what they are saying but there is definitely a 'means to an end' thing going on somewhere.

pancaketosser · 04/12/2018 13:17

If you're told that t*s hate you and want you and all trans people eliminated, you probably read GC comments through that lens and see what you expect to see.

I see it on various threads on MN which have polarising opinions. A thread about bf/ff will result in people on both sides feeling attacked and that most of the comments are against them. Same with any SAHM thread. Especially on a fast moving forum such as this where if you spend too long reading everything before posting you might have missed 20-30 posts.

Also, if you're believe that words can be literal violence, it doesn't matter what 'tone' anyone posts in online, it will be viewed as agressive.

clitterati · 05/12/2018 23:25

I just wanted to point out, to whoever transcripted the recording that I posted - this was the Leeds Event, not the Sheffield one that Jean recorded.

If whoever posted the transcription could amend that, that would be great !

Also, well bloody done for the transcription 👍

Ereshkigal · 06/12/2018 01:28

Well done for getting the recording online ThanksWine

Ereshkigal · 06/12/2018 01:29

It's better to listen as well if possible, you really get the sense of what was happening.

AutumnCrow · 06/12/2018 01:56

I'm up the 'point' about colonialism. Dear me.

PencilsInSpace · 06/12/2018 09:55

Ohhh thanks, clitterati, I'll pass that on. It probably can't be amended as such because on pastebin you just chuck stuff up and that's it. There's no way to edit or delete unless you have an account. They could put a new version up with a new link though.

Thank you so much for the recording. Has there been any comeback - do they know these recordings are circulating?

Also does this mean there's another recording from the one Jean went to? I haven't heard that, is it up anywhere do you know?

BitOfFun · 07/12/2018 21:02

I am only as far down the thread as the Sisters Not Cisters audio, but I have to chip in- is this what passes for intellectual rigour at our fee-paying universities? Making demonstrably untrue statements entirely without evidence and then adding "so, er, yeah"?

I despair.
