Jean’s thread on this on Twitter is shocking. Sounds like paranoia gearing up to incitement. The tone of this, compared with the tone of the discussion in women’s meetings is a stark warning.

If you’re reading this Jean, please take care.

Jean Flowers My goodness. Your work for women and against violence against women is amazing. You are personally, literally, so heroic about the shit (understatement) that you have to deal with only because you always speak up for and witness for women. You were ludicrously brave to go along to this event at all, let alone to speak up in the meeting.

I am so glad you had your (male) partner with you in there.

Can you imagine what would have happened if you had gone along alone, or even gone in a group of women with no men present, and any of you had dared to ask a fact-based question?

Contrast this experience with women trying to gather to talk peacefully about self-ID and finding masked aggressive people blocking women in on stairwells (WPUK Bristol meeting, 2018) and Trans Rights ‘Activists’ threatening meeting venues until they refuse to hold women’s meetings. (Basically any gender critical women’s meeting in 2017, 2018). Maria getting punched to the floor at speaker’s corner in London and then those arseholes standing outside the meeting and chanting ‘burn it down’. Sad Women being no platformed ad speakers, many women concerned for their safety and jobs (with good reason) if they were to attend a peaceful meeting organised for women to talk and listen together.

(This is all well documented on these threads, so thank you Mumsnet for letting women speak when it’s very physically dangerous for us to do this in real life, as Jean has shown).

Thanks very much for the Leeds recording clitterati I'll listen to it later.
I'm quite surprised though that they only managed 30 people in the city of the woke.

BlytheSpiritsSpirit · 22/11/2018 09:10

I've said it before and I'll say it again. They are cowards. Covering their faces, afraid of recordings and video, hiding their true intent behind appropriated vocabulary. Threatening one single person as a crowd. Pathetic cowards.

samsamsamsamsamsam · 22/11/2018 10:27

I love lipstick.

misses the point completely

BirdseyeFrozen · 22/11/2018 19:31

Jean and Sidekick Flowers
In awe.

PencilsInSpace · 22/11/2018 20:53

Just listened to the recording. Wow.

That was sort of terrifying and hilarious at the same time.

Aside from the mother, they came across as really not very bright.

I liked it when she said [paraphrase] 'maybe we shouldn't yell T*F at every woman who asks a question and maybe we shouldn't keep shutting down their meetings because the T*Fs keep using it to make us look aggressive and I think it's working against us'

... and the Welsh one said [also paraphrased] 'nah, don't care, it makes us feel all empowefulised and we need empowerfulising and keep the resistance pure and don't criticise anyone else's action, we need a diversity of action and the riled up youngsters need somewhere to dump their rage'

I have an earworm now of 'welcome to my wrath' in a lovely Welsh accent Grin I might have to sample it and give it to DS to use in his music.

I almost felt sorry for the labour equalities person when they got tearful about a twitter pile on until it transpired they were being criticised by the black community for deplatforming the founder of Black History Month at a Black History Month event. This person had invited Linda Bellos to speak and then withdrew the invitation when told Linda was a T**F.

How fucking dare they tell all those lies about speaker's corner and the assault of Maria Mac Angry

Did anybody catch which event it was where they said they put up a 'no TFs' sign - written on toilet paper? For supposed 'antifascists' they really could get a fucking clue how dehumanisation works Hmm

Jean you are an absolute star! Brava! Star Flowers Wine

They couldn't find much wrong with TransgenderTrend's schools pack.

'It all seems so reasonable ... and that's why it's dangerous!'

'If I didn't know who wrote it I'd think it was OK ... and that's why it's dangerous!'

The way the stuff about kids was discussed was awful [more paraphrasing] - 'More people regret a tattoo than regret transitioning. They should all go home and drink their tea and rethink the target of their campaigning. They wouldn't even need to change their acronym! hahahaha'

The tras seem to have conceded that detransition is a thing and they're now trying 'doesn't matter anyway'.

I have a tattoo I regret. My mum told me I'd regret it and she was right. Nevertheless -

I still have my breasts.
I have not grown a beard.
My voice has not been permanently deepened.
My vagina did not atrophy.
My libido and sexual sensation were not impaired.
I remained fertile.
I wasn't left behind by my peers going through puberty years ahead of me.
I wasn't left wondering what on earth long term side effects I might get from all this untested body meddling.

I wasn't left wondering who the fuck I was and what the fuck I had done from my regretted tattoo.

Just occasionally I'll cover my shoulders on a warm day when I'd really prefer to feel the breeze because I feel a bit embarrassed about people seeing my tattoo.

Maybe I should start a shirt fund on Patreon or something.

I think I said something quite rude out loud at that point. Welsh one also made a veiled allusion to violence/abusive and threatening behaviour when there was a masked up group of TRAs who got together to protest a meeting (tactics which everyone in the room agreed with) and said that they couldn't find the venue (I remember this) and that the TRA group mob had gone looking for the women and "they (the TFs) were probably glad they didn't find them".

They boasted about getting WP Leeds shut down because they'd been lobbying local politicians and it wouldn't have looked good to have the transphobes allowed to meet in the civic hall. Because everything is all about them. Nothing means anything otherwise.

And their dishonest and dismissive retelling of speakers corner was shocking. "Someone pushed someone, and the TFs called the police", who didn't care because they've seen worse in Spoons, then apparently pursued Tara and got Tara charged by putting Tara's picture in all the local papers.

UpstartCrow · 22/11/2018 21:47

Apparently a transcript is coming. We should probably send gin before they lose the will to live.

Ereshkigal · 22/11/2018 21:49

Christ it takes me ages to transcribe 2 hours!

DialsMavis · 22/11/2018 21:50

I am blocked by Jean and I have no idea why!

Ereshkigal · 22/11/2018 21:53

Also was that Jess Bradley there? Or did I hear wrong?

OrchidInTheSun · 22/11/2018 21:55

Transcribing is very slow work! Good job ereshkigal for doing it

BirdseyeFrozen · 22/11/2018 21:57

Just listened to it.
Blimey! What a bunch of deluded liars and self seekers.
That voice that goes up at the END?
Like everything is a QUESTION?
It drives me MAD?

Not forgetting: "The Struggle" ffs. "A candy stall of options". Really?

Jean and Sidekick Flowers for damage to eardrums alone.

A hollow laugh from me, at the Labour Party Equality Officer complaining about the insults she received from BAME members after uninviting Linda Bellos from the Black History month event. She seems kind of proud of her Judas Iscariot moment.

Being called a" Bounty" and an "Oreo" as she alleges she was called, is damning stuff.

BlackeyedGruesome · 22/11/2018 22:05

you could share out the transcribing.

Ereshkigal · 22/11/2018 22:15

Transcribing is very slow work! Good job ereshkigal for doing it

I can't transcribe it myself at the moment sadly! Was just remarking that it would be a mammoth transcription job.

PencilsInSpace · 02/12/2018 22:44

There's now a full transcript here and it's fascinating.

Ereshkigal · 02/12/2018 23:34

Wow. Thank you Pencils.

Datun · 02/12/2018 23:49

Placemarking to check out later. Not sure I can stomach it tonight.

Thanks Pencils 🤩

PencilsInSpace · 02/12/2018 23:51

I am informed that it was a collaborative effort Smile

BlackeyedGruesome · 03/12/2018 00:04

wow, thanks to all who collaborated..

NotTerfNorCis · 03/12/2018 00:06

Thanks for that. I haven't had time to read all of it, but I see they got the point about women's refuges totally backwards.
