I'm not sure how Bob could be accused of being biased by Munroe. He's a medical professional expressing a researched opinion. What qualifications does Munroe have? Honest question.

He got a lot of good points in. I hope people pick up on the point he mentioned of people being coached, especially online, on what to say to get a diagnosis of gender dysphoria. I have seen this myself, though with adults.

Bob Withers barely had a chance to speak but came over well. Bergdorf had to resort to being sneary about the Mail on Sunday. Withers is a professional with genuine concerns about children. Bergdorf has no experience of children, and an agenda. Who will people trust ? We have a friend whose daughter at 16 is suddenly identifying as trans, very obviously to do with other tricky things in her life. It will be an absolute tragedy if she ends up on medication, then having surgery. I’m grateful to Bob withers for the article and to the MoS for printing it.

Yep, Bob Withers was brilliant, got in points about it being gay conversion and about how he didn’t want to be writing for right wing press but the left wouldn’t touch it.

I thought that was much better than This Morning has been before. Obviously they were much more concerned to get on with the discussions about I'm a celebrity than be particularly thorough on this one, but they do love a medical professional on TM, so he was always going to be on a good footing.

Bergdorf was primed with the usual methodology of course, but the sneery 'Daily Mail bigotry' accusation was beautifully undercut by Withers' response that he would love the left wing press to pick it up, and all Bergdorf had was more 'Daily Mail are bigots' which might play well on Twitter, or even MN, but isn't going to have too much traction with the general public, a vast portion of which read it.

A worthwhile piece, and he kept it very laser focused on the issue of child protection despite Bergdorf's efforts and blythe suicide 80% stats (!!!).

I found the story of a child left in the woods raised by wolf's interesting, Romulus and Remus? Could this be a suggestion from Bob of life scripts staring an ugly duckling, little red riding hood and emperor's new clothes?

Yes, he was talking about the creation of retro-narratives I think, where people invent past feelings to justify and access specific treatment. Unfortunately Bergdorf didn't understand or let him make his point, and thought he was 'comparing trans children to feral children' which was rather a spectacularly stupid misreading.
