Male police officers can intimately search women. New guidance

Apologies if this has been posted, but I am sickened that new Police guidance (written by Stonewall obvs) enables male officers who ID as women to search women.

We are meant to be reassured that 'only' officers who ID as women can perform such searches. Apparently there's a lot of misunderstanding about this.

Well if they feel like they're a woman then that's alright then Hmm

I feel like we've all fallen down the rabbit hole.

Wenttoseainasieve · 14/11/2018 09:17

Oh, well as long as they identify as female...

Can't say I'm surprised by this in the slightest sadly.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 14/11/2018 09:22

Confusion with the public due to useless, twisted language.

Searched by someone who "identifies" as a woman. So that would be a man then. Because women do not need to identify as women.

HandsOffMyRights · 14/11/2018 09:23

Full guidance in the resources section:
www.lgbtpolice.uk/

It reads, in many parts, like a cut and paste by Ashton and Alex of Stonewall's guidance to schools.

What are they suggesting the 'misunderstanding on the part of the public' of this to be, exactly? We said it would mean that males identifying as women would be able to search women - they have confirmed that males identifying as women would be able to search women.

I hope WEP are saying something about this.

HomeStar · 14/11/2018 09:24

I’m so relieved that I won’t be searched by a penis-owner unless they’re a penis-owner with an obsessive fetish, that’s great news, thanks Stonewall! Star

Jonathan Yaniv missed a trick by not becoming a cop. Could have gratified his curiosity about tampons to his heart’s content.

Charliethefeminist · 14/11/2018 09:25

Why isn't this against the law. Why isn't a GRC needed? Even with a GRC, why don't Equality Act exemptions apply?

Charliethefeminist · 14/11/2018 09:25

If you identify as a man, at least you'd be searched by a man without a fetish.

HomeStar · 14/11/2018 09:27

“Her” heart’s content, I obviously meant. Genuine mistake- I apologise for misgendering, unless there is an exception in the rules for pedophiles?

KenDoddsDadsDogsDead18 · 14/11/2018 09:31

....and on another thread the OP is wondering why we are posting so much on this subject...Hmm

HandsOffMyRights · 14/11/2018 09:32

We know Eamon Holmes already approves of this.

Stonewall are involved.

Nothing to worry about folks, no fetishists or perverts in the police force.

Whaaat???!!!

Surely this would be a case for invoking the EA sex-based exemption?

HandsOffMyRights · 14/11/2018 09:33

Posting so much on male police searching women Ken?

LangCleg · 14/11/2018 09:35

I am a member of the public and I am not reassured by the thought that a self-declared gender identity would be sufficient for a bepenised person to stick his fingers in my knickers.

Popchyk · 14/11/2018 09:35

That seems to be in contravention of the government's own rules.

Stop and Search

"If the officer wants to remove more than a jacket and gloves they must be the same sex as you."

KenDoddsDadsDogsDead18 · 14/11/2018 09:38

No on the subject of trans rights & women's rights colliding in general. It seems to be more a thread accusing fwr of transphobia as far as I can tell. I haven't rtft though. That appears to be the gist.

Popchyk · 14/11/2018 09:40

And again.

Detention and custody of young persons

Girls
Girls under the age of 18 must be under the care of a woman while being detained, conveyed to and from court, or waiting to be so conveyed. This is a requirement under section 31 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933.

Under the care of a woman
This term refers to a female police officer or female member of police staff. Subject to the risk assessment, the carer need not be physically present and with the detainee at all times, but must be readily available and assigned to the detainee throughout the period of detention. Officers and staff must treat each case individually and should always give consideration to whether a carer needs to be physically present or not. The assigned responsibility can be shared by more than one female carer and may be transferred at shift handover.
The assigned carer should arrange with the custody officer to visit the detainee and check on her welfare needs.

I'm meant to be reassured, am I? "Reassured" is a funny way to say "absolutely bloody furious".

Invisible1234 · 14/11/2018 09:41

"A police officer has become Britain’s first gender-fluid officer and is using separate male and female identities while at work.

One some days the officer goes by the name Callum — and on other days goes by the female name of Abi.

The transgender PC has two warrant cards, one in their male name, the other in their female identity."

OP's mission to convert the gender heathens isn't going well so far.

Popchyk · 14/11/2018 09:45

Be interesting how Clinton Blackburn explains how his new initiative fits with existing law.

Because it seems to contradict what is actually the law.

But then we can't expect Superintendents to understand law of course.

AngryAttackKittens · 14/11/2018 09:47

Is Callum allowed to change to Abi in the middle of the day if a particularly attractive female prisoner is brought in?
