Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

An Open Letter. Dear BBC

Dear BBC
cc ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Sky, Global, etc

We are bog standard people.

The sort of people who do not have playdates with unicorns and mermaids and have not been enchanted by the mind altering capacities of glitter dust. The sort of people who are aware that chromosomes determine sex (even in intersex conditions). We know that the moment that pesky sperm breaks into the egg, sex is set. We know this from biology at school, and we've seen it on the telly.

Some people believe in a thing called Gender Identity. They are entitled to believe in it. They are not entitled to demand that everyone else believe in it.

It is noted that quite a lot of people in the media truly believe that the great unwashed are all on board with 'transwomen are women', 'transmen are men'. Why, only this very week were our jaws dropped by #Jeremy Vine and #Iain Dale.

We have great sympathy for people who are suffering from gender dysphoria. But 'woman' does not equal 'man who´s been getting excited in the dressing up box' (please see Stonewalls' expansive trans umbrella).

We must ask, where are your programmes/dramas/discussions/documentaries about the following?:

Detransitioners,
People suffering from the side effects of Lupron (puberty blocker),
Children having their puberty blocked, resulting in a failure of brain developement and lowering of IQ
Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria (ROGD) and it´s causes (eg childhood sexual abuse, social contagion)
Links between autism and GD
'Y factor' women maintainting male pattern offending rates.
Autogynephilia and paraphilias in many transwomen.
The forgotten 'transexuals' who are not on board with self ID and current trans rights activism.
Why has 'T' non sequitously been tagged onto LGB ($£€)?
(We could go on. Please do get in touch if you need more program ideas.)

It is your job to interrogate all this. Where is your critical thinking? It's embarrassing.

And what mental acrobatics must be performed to believe that transwomen have a place in women's sports? We are already seeing transwomen taking prizes that belong to women. Curiously (or not) we are not seeing transmen achieving similar in men's sports.

Pause woke. Wake up, grow up, wise up. You have been groomed. Just like you were with Savile. You have let them control you. And now you are scared of them.

We remain un Stonewashed,

Bog Standard People of Mumsnet

Heratnumber7 · 08/11/2018 18:05

I'll sign.

RJFirth · 08/11/2018 18:09

Try gathering some evidence of any of that stuff first.

LikeDust · 08/11/2018 18:09

I'll sign.

I am fucking fed up.

Vanessamessa · 08/11/2018 18:18

love, love, love it. Good work, would be happy to sign.

Threewheeler1 · 08/11/2018 18:19

And BBC, I'd like some proper investigation and comparisons e.g. the much touted inaccurate claim of stratospheric suicide risk being trans, how does that compare with suicide risk in women and children who have been physically and sexually abused by men?
I'd sign.

littlecabbage · 08/11/2018 18:25

I really like this. Definitely needs publishing somewhere as an open letter, as will be immediately disregarded if sent privately. The Times? The Spectator? Even The Mirror etc if desperate!

R0wantrees · 08/11/2018 18:26

Try gathering some evidence of any of that stuff first.

Another theme that could be added to the list:

The role of BBC Children in Need grants (£448,000) in the grooming of children towards transition, without parent's knowledge

ABitCrapper · 08/11/2018 19:11

Actually I'd really like some proper impartial investigations into the suicide stats, drug problems, desistance and detransition rates, social contagion - and all those other things that are argued and contested between the various sides.

PositiveVibez · 08/11/2018 19:11

Excellent work. I'll sign.

AutumnCrow · 08/11/2018 19:14

BBC Children in Need needs investigating.

AgnesNaismith · 08/11/2018 19:16

Yes please, add me

welshbookworm · 08/11/2018 22:37

Happy to sign it too. These things need saying and need saying loudly.

thecompletenonsequitur · 10/11/2018 15:55

Sorry I didn't get back to this yesterday. Was unable to venture out (to use internet) due to extreme weather.

I want to invite the BBC to respond on this thread. Yes I do. So I googled 'contact the BBC'. Still haven't found the right bit. Does anyone have a clue?

There is also an 'elephant in room' type debate to be had that I would like to add to the 'missing programmes' list:

There is pressure internationally for us to fall in behind the belief that this isn't a mental health condition. From where comes this pressure? Who is behind it?

The eggshells we've all been walking on are crushed now. Our broadcasting companies should not be barred from discussing openly. Nobody should be barred from discussing openly.

I wish I hadn't paid my tv license this year. I'll sign and will boycott BbC and just use Netflix (or similar) next year unless they get less biased.

lucydogz · 10/11/2018 16:32

I'm listening to Woman's Hour and grinding my teeth about how little time they spend on this, surely one of the biggest issues facing women today. I'm fact, they refused to come into Feedback to respond to complaints of bias.
Probably the way they want you to go is via Feedback, but why not put something on their twitte r feed.
Oh yes, I'd sign it, in a shot.

MickHucknallspinkpancakes · 10/11/2018 16:32

I'll also sign.

That Saville comment - ouch! Hitting them right where they'll take notice.

thecompletenonsequitur · 10/11/2018 16:52

I'm doing some homework on this thread BBC Bias to find contact clues.

I have to go again now. Back tomorrow.

Also gender for sex every time, gender discrimination, gender pay gap, even on woman's hour.
Good letter.

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 10/11/2018 18:35

Marvellous!

NotaRealLawyer · 10/11/2018 19:26

The Principal
Consider it signed by me.

Can we make a full page poster of this in the newspapers?
^
This, I'll give money.

littlecabbage · 10/11/2018 19:28

I would give money for a full page of this in a newspaper too.
