I'm going in - wish me luck.

Calming mug of golden milk at the ready...

I certainly think tht Any one watching this who is not part of this trans grooming gang should see it for what it is. I don't think that you have to be in the know to see that it is so heavily stereotyped and even our girls don't fit the girl box...

All in all I think it's done us a huge favour

LangCleg · 22/10/2018 11:23

Oh ffs thus is out of some male fantasy of girls on sleep overs

Yes. Disturbingly so, frankly.

Gileswithachainsaw · 22/10/2018 11:25

I'm sure I read on here once and I of course am happy to stand corrected. Bit that American lila perry who fought for access to girls locker rooms ended up being disappointed because it wa sbt sone lesbian fest where they all walked around naked and had towell fights etc

The actor who plays the Dad is about to be on This Morning. I can already see how this will go having seen Ruth and Eamonn interview their pal India Willoughby a couple of weeks ago when she was on with Posie Parker.

LorettasBox · 22/10/2018 12:04

Ruth thinks Butterfly is something the entire family can enjoy. Good grief. Nothing like stereotypes, homophobia and the appalling depiction of self harm and child suicide attempts for the whole family!!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 22/10/2018 12:08

Ofcom found no issues with Butterfly (trailer) - I guess that mean that haven't looked at the first episode yet?

He just quoted 'those' stats. Interesting that he keeps saying 'body dysphoria' rather than transgender.

misscockerspaniel · 22/10/2018 12:10

Manipulative child, gender stereotyping and homophobia.

Glad I watched Formula 1 instead. Does that make me a man?

Gileswithachainsaw · 22/10/2018 12:15

Maybe someone should tell that Russian ballet dancer he's really a girl. Since dancing is only for girls Hmm

AbsintheFriends · 22/10/2018 13:57

Just checked the viewing figures. 2.3 million for Butterfly, which is actually fewer than it's very lukewarm 2.8 last week.

Meanwhile on BBC one at the same time, The Cry increased to 5.3 million this week, from 4.6 last week. People voting with their remotes.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 22/10/2018 14:04

Of course they are. People know when they're being fed propaganda.

AspieAndProud · 22/10/2018 14:04

How can I watch John Travolta films now knowing his dancing skills make him a woman and not a woman’s man?

Whether you're a brother or whether you're a mother, you're stayin' alive, stayin' alive...

Wow. Paltry second week. Very disappointing for ITV and more proof that "winning" Twitter does not mean "winning" real life.

pleasesleepinyourownbed · 22/10/2018 21:17

Why didn't they portray him from a happy, healthy, normal household? They are portraying the mum as seriously unhinged.. The dad is the only sane one but he's portrayed as the baddy in this. God knows where they are going with this but I definitely won't be watching to find out. If mermaids or similar thought this would help their cause they are seriously mistaken & I am only on episode 2.

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 22/10/2018 21:31

I couldn't face watching it, but I've heard enough about the self-harm scenes to be horrified. Showing a child cutting & saying how good it feels should be illegal. Because yes.
Speaking from experience, it does - at the time. And then you need to take it up a level for the same feeling.

I've been clean for four years now & I'm not going back. But for someone who's trying to quit or thinking of starting... no. Just no.

Quite, pleasesleep.

Considering that I have seen countless news stories of the exact opposite. Especially from the US where the doting accepting parents are religious.

HelenaDove · 24/10/2018 00:03

Catching up with this now as DH was watching the Grand Prix on Friday.

WTF with "The last thing she needs is hair growing over her body" this happens to boys and girls Confused

HelenaDove · 24/10/2018 00:03

*Grand Prix on Sunday.
