Question on the GRA consultation.

The quality of debate on this topic is generally poor, because the quality of people in our public life is poor. The average politician who appears on QT now has the IQ of a used teabag. This is what needs fixing.

Bejazzled · 18/10/2018 23:47

Nish is a dickwad obviously so 'woke' 🙄
But these young women with their shiny faces and sanctimonious attitudes very much depress me. To spout such utter shit with all the certainty and knowledge of their circa 20 years experience - sigh

placemats · 18/10/2018 23:47

You are right Tanith. Jan came onto mumsnet to say trans women were not women.

Havalina · 18/10/2018 23:47

Always thought nish was a bit of a knob, he kept repeating some deeply unfunny joke on mock the week lately. Stfu it wasn't funny the first time!

Richard herring latest podcast had a glancing bit about trans (the one with Ross noble). They both danced around the issue, knowing any wrong word would result in a Twitter lynching.

Tbf if I was a famous comedian I'd just keep my head below the parapet too. Makes you appreciate Graham linehan even more.

bialystockandbloom · 18/10/2018 23:48

This made me so angry I drained a glass of wine superspeed. The only one who seemed to have given this a single moments thought (beyond oh Jan Morris how brave she was) or logic was the Economist editor. Funnily enough the only woman on the panel, surprise surprise.

No mention of sport, prison (except Keir Starmer briefly and even then obv had no knowledge of Karen White), shortlists, scholarships, refuges, or the general eradication of the meaningful definition of what a woman is. Or the proportion of TW who have no intention of removing their penis. Just same old reference to fucking toilets. With no thought even for that. Argh Angry

Sorry for rant!

HumberElla · 18/10/2018 23:48

Jan Morris is a lovely story but has absolutely nothing to do with the proposed reform. Why not answer the question?

Bejazzled · 18/10/2018 23:49

Utter utter bullshit!!! Even a very special thanks to the super special plant in the audience

The BBC at its best eh?

LittlePearl · 18/10/2018 23:49

I despair.

KAREN WHITE!!!!!

Have their memories been wiped?

April2020mom · 18/10/2018 23:49

Not impressed with Nish. My gut feeling is that he does not seem capable of understanding women.

Are 48% of ginger prisoners category A? Should they be held in the strawberry blonde estate?

Do freckles and pale skin confer an unfair sporting advantage?

Should teenage girls have to shower with someone who looks like a wrestler with Mick Hucknall trapped in a head scissor lock?

Bullshit analogies hurting brain. Does not compute.

LittlePearl · 18/10/2018 23:52

I'm so sick of women's very reasonable concerns being branded extreme and toxic.

HollowTalk · 18/10/2018 23:52

I loved watching Posie in her vlog imitating girls like that one in the audience. The girl would do well to watch it, to realise what a handmaiden she's become.

frazzled1 · 18/10/2018 23:54

Exactly. I would love to hear them come back in 20 years, mothers of 12 year old girls say & spout all that fluff again.

BumbrainusMaximus · 18/10/2018 23:57

It’s actually real hatred of feminism and women that’s motivating this - these girls, just the same as the ones saying oh I’m not a feminist so as not to frighten the boys 20 years ago.
Don’t you get it - they hate you and have no respect for you no matter what you say. At least if you stand up for yourself they won’t get the satisfaction of thinking you’re a schmuck. Plus you can look in the mirror with cringing.

The messages to girls about pleasing men have strengthened not weakened in recent years.
DD at 10 is already fearful of what boys in her class will say. If I keep my job I hope I will be able to afford a single sex school for her. I’m luckier than most. It’s time to stop telling girls that what men think of them matters.

AspieAndProud · 19/10/2018 00:09

A lot of these ‘woke’ types probably do live in southern and metropolitan areas or work in organisations like the BBC where ginger people are quite rare and trans are disproportionately large because of local demographics so they probably would have no difficulty swallowing that line about numbers. Most of my family are ginger. Where I live about half of us have Irish grandparents. London has a very different ethnic mix.

Nish Kumar is such cotton wool. Always thought the guy was a twat.

My heart goes out... to girls changing in changing rooms with people spying on them.

Chocolate50 · 19/10/2018 00:17

This is really interesting I wish I had watched it, must do catch up tomorrow.
I have a son who was born a girl, he doesn't want to go through with the full op and has been on hormones for a long time, he would not be ok in an all male setting due to this and other factors, I will catch up tomorrow I am just reading some of the responses to the programme on here

HollowTalk · 19/10/2018 00:18

My heart goes out to girls competing against boys.

placemats · 19/10/2018 00:18

The sad thing is they spend hours and loads of money getting those shiny faces.

I was a love everyone, especially men who wanted 'equality' for women, feminist when I was their age. I thought I was in a golden age. Then marriage, divorce, another marriage, children and another divorce happened.

LorettasBox · 19/10/2018 00:19

I am still hopping about it. The indescribable pain of the transplant in the audience, so indescribable they were given centre stage for ages and a lot of validating from everyone in the room. I mean thank goodness for the Economist editor, but all those bloody men on the panel who just couldn't help but marvel at the indescribable pain of someone actually choosing to be one of those lowly women types.
