PM has just started. There is going to be some sort of live debate - sounds like Stonewall are coming on. Don’t know exactly when though.

Damage limitation probably. I doubt they are going to get a grilling, hope to be proven wrong.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 04/10/2018 17:10

It'll be the same old, everyone is accusing transgender people of being a violent risk, they are othering, and so on.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 04/10/2018 17:14

Jonny Best, apparently! I'm excited. I haven't 'heard' him speak before.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 04/10/2018 17:15

Carolyn Quinn is usually pretty good too.

Melamin · 04/10/2018 17:21

I don't think stonewall are going on there to be challenged - only for validation. Which is what they have been getting from the BBC.

SD1978 · 04/10/2018 17:22

I'd be surprised if there was any challenge. No one will do so for fear of being labeled a 'phobe' of some sort for voicing any opinion other than the accepted minority rules one.

placemats · 04/10/2018 17:24

I heard why those who are critical of trans people are demonised.

niceberg · 04/10/2018 17:33

That’s what I heard too placemats.

OP posts:
NoRunAround · 04/10/2018 17:36

Have I missed it?

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 04/10/2018 17:39

No, still waiting.

silentcrow · 04/10/2018 17:41

If it hasn't been on yet, then I think the "cram it into the last two minutes so nobody gets to say anything" tactic is in play. Angry

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 04/10/2018 17:43

Waiting whilst reading the comments on the petition. The hope is what hurts. I have no real hope for the BBC

placemats · 04/10/2018 17:43

Gosh that's a disturbing report regarding people with learning disabilities and the police right now. It's a report from the USA.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 04/10/2018 17:45

Waiting whilst reading the comments on the petition.

Funniest thing is atleast one TRA has signed it to comment that we're all transphobes....

TwistedStitch · 04/10/2018 17:45

It's awful placemats. Tasering a mentally unwell man 15 times in his bath until he stopped breathing and they couldn't prove his death was linked? His poor parents.

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 04/10/2018 17:51

Oooh, like that he mentioned the BBC at the end there

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 04/10/2018 17:54

Stonewall has made an UNEQUIVOCAL stance. Stonewall says transwomen ARE women. She's not telling the truth

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 04/10/2018 17:55

Debate is happening despite you, Ruth. It's got away from you. You didn't want that debate

placemats · 04/10/2018 17:56

So transwomen are women is something that is enshrined in law?

Hello?

Ruth?

This is real life calling.

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 04/10/2018 17:56

That's the most energetic I've heard a BBC presenter about this issue

Etino · 04/10/2018 17:57

It needs naming.
Women don’t have penises. Most people who think we’re bigots and on the wrong side of history have no idea that self identification means penis owners can access all areas. Angry

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 04/10/2018 17:58

I'm really glad that Ruth stated Transwoman are women. That will have given some people listening pause

I WISH Jonny could have got the Trans Umbrella over. What the term Transwoman encompasses

niceberg · 04/10/2018 17:59

“Trans women are women is enshrined in law”? Ffs

Hardly a live debate was it? Shame there was no to and fro between Best and Hunt.

OP posts:
placemats · 04/10/2018 17:59

Yes TwistedStitch his parents are vulnerable too against the might of the law to get some sort of reparation for their son's murder.

OldCrone · 04/10/2018 18:00

Ruth Hunt said 'transwomen are women' is enshrined in law in the 2004 Act. That is a lie.
