Here: www.heraldscotland.com/opinion/16911183.stuart-waiton-why-is-the-state-pushing-harmful-transgender-agenda/#comments-anchor

I can't read it all as I've had my free article allowance this month, but it looks promising. Comments section is 50/50 despair/heartening

The Herald is one of Scotland's main broadsheets.

Was great article and whoever Charlie was never ever backed down

Judder · 01/10/2018 20:37

Wow Charlie is a tour de force

LittlePearl · 01/10/2018 20:59

Charlie, are you a MNetter?

You're awesome!

AncientLights · 01/10/2018 21:14

Charlie Noack is terrific: I take it she's a woman from her writing and she quotes MN. The level of ignorance from those she's educating on there is woeful.

Jillcrewespony · 01/10/2018 21:19

In awe of Charlie's comments. So clear and thoughtfully argued

speakingwoman · 01/10/2018 21:19

oh that was brilliant and really helped me understand where this is coming from.

PurpleCrowbar · 01/10/2018 21:23

Charlie was very, very impressive. Fantastic stuff. I'd like to buy that woman a pint.

BigChocFrenzy · 01/10/2018 21:25

So many quote MN.
FWR really matters

BitOfFun · 01/10/2018 21:33

Yes, well done Charlie!

SylvanianFrenemies · 01/10/2018 21:37

A pint @PurpleCrowbar? Surely if she is a lady she'd like a Babycham or a pretty cocktail with an umbrella and a sparkler, to suit her girlbrain? Wink

rememberatime · 01/10/2018 22:07

Charlie needs her own article (or even a book!)

PurpleCrowbar · 01/10/2018 22:25

She can have a depth charge. Pint with a nice lady like schooner of drambuie dropped in.

Covers all bases, that. Grin

theOtherPamAyres · 01/10/2018 22:27

I got very emotional reading the article and the comments.

First of all, it addressed the question that has tortured me from the beginning - Why is the State pushing this dangerous ideology? Why?

And then to read the tightly argued case, all backed up with evidence, by the amazing Charlie - in the face of prejudice, assumptions, ignorance and half-arsed bat-shittery - left me gasping. I was angry, frustrated and inwardly screaming. And then I was proud and resolute.

Charlie - your contributions to the comments section must have taken a lot of energy and time and anguish. Let me assure you that it was worth it, that it was impressive and that it was breath-takingly persuasive.

Je suis Charlie, too.

Manderleyagain · 01/10/2018 22:45

Charlie is ace!

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 01/10/2018 23:19

Flipping heck, Charlie is amazing! If she isn't already speaking out in other areas too, she should be - it would be great to have her onboard at FPFW or similar!

heresyandwitchcraft · 01/10/2018 23:28

Charlie Gin and Wine
Fantastic work in the comments. Persuasive, persistent and crystal-clear.

vagender · 01/10/2018 23:34

The author of the article is a lecturer at a Scottish university, and their LGBT society is already filing an official complaint and has started a petition for a “zero tolerance” policy towards hate speech. Holy shit.

terryleather · 01/10/2018 23:42

Stuart Waiton was one of the speakers at the Glasgow We Need To Talk meeting earlier in the year, I thought what he had to say was interesting.
Am I right in thinking he's also very critical of the proposed Named Person legislation?
Sadly not surprised by that vagender

concretesieve · 01/10/2018 23:55

Charlie !!! Flowers Flowers Flowers

Charlie Noack deserves a medal of honour for her clarity in laying out the problems, the stats, and her refusal to bow to the nay-sayers and down-shouters.

So impressed to read that.

In answer to "why is the state pushing this?" I would like to post this again - threadreaderapp.com/thread/991258039511670784.html

  • it is a very interesting and enlightening article, but the important bit is to be found where they discuss promoting other minority interests in schools: it's an exact description of how the trans agenda is being pushed in schools.
Note that this article is about a paedophiles' manifesto. I am NOT saying that all trans are paedos, that's rubbish. I AM saying that there is a good chance that PIE and similar are involved in pushing the TRA agenda, because it will weaken and blur the lines that currently exist to protect women and children (specifically children) from predators, and that they will use this weakening and blurring to fui
ThumbWitchesAbroad · 02/10/2018 03:54

Sorry, don't know what happened to the end bit there!

...they will use this weakening and blurring to further push their own agenda.

Bowlofbabelfish · 02/10/2018 04:37

Go Charlie! Brilliant comments :)

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 02/10/2018 05:35

Charlie - I am in awe. Well done!

NotNachoing · 02/10/2018 05:37

Also loved Charlie's comments. Interesting that nobody could actually provide any actual counter to them. Wonder why...?

I agree with the pp who recognised the time and energy involved in writing those comments. Thanks Charlie.
