I've just been reading this thread and I am utterly blown away by the number of women who say they are lurking here.

It's quite, quite wonderful to read that thread and I wanted to acknowledge it and roll out the red carpet if any of you wanted to post. I know it can feel a bit intimidating, like you have to have the right vocabulary, or some huge knowledge of feminist theory, but you don't.

Your words are valuable, and your unique view is important because together we're powerful!

We're also rude, funny, and most of all DISRESPECTFUL in all the ways that matter. Don't just lurk: join in Grin you are very welcome.

Hello! I sort of lurk, but NC every few weeks and then forget which names I'm more public on...

In total awe of the women with enough balls [sic] to fight this publicly.

purplebutterflybiscuits · 30/09/2018 08:47

Hi! I have lurked for quite a while, and have braved a few posts this week, just saying I agree or whatever. This board has opened my eyes. More importantly it has given me the info and courage to begin to tackle GC issues in real life.

MangoSplit · 30/09/2018 08:49

I lurk a lot and post occasionally. I also try to do my bit in a small way (donating, signing petitions, filling in consultations etc). Hello to all the wonderful women here!

barnacharmer · 30/09/2018 08:50

I tend not to post because somebody else has already said it better, I'm only posting now because it's early on in the thread Grin

I lurk here a lot, I have been deeply feminist for my entire adult life. I come here sometimes when the world is so mad and I need to see sanity but I also avoid sometimes when I just can't cope with thinking about it all for a while

TerfedOff · 30/09/2018 08:50

I read that thread last night with tears in my eyes. It was so wonderful to see how important this fight is for us all. So lovely to see all you lurkers going out into the real world and spreading the word.

SophoclesTheFox · 30/09/2018 08:50

Good morning floyella and purplebutterfly Grin

Long time lurker, don't really think I have much to add to the debate, but this board had been an eye opener!

MogPlus · 30/09/2018 08:56

I used to post more often (under MurderOfGoths) but mostly lurk nowadays, so hi

OfDragonsDeep · 30/09/2018 09:05

I lurk and agree with you, but I am a bit scared to join in. I love reading the intelligent conversation though.

I think that I believed women had achieved equality as a mid 20's woman working in the corporate world with women at all levels. Now I'm mid 30's with a child, working part time I see that's not the case.

Now I've stayed lurking a bit longer I can see the damage of self ID. My company introduced a load of inclusivity and diversity policies/waffle, but the only other person I have found that disagrees is a fully fledged gun owning trump voter Confused Everyone else I come across seems to believe that we need to accept this as it's the 'right' thing to do.

BreezedriftingOnBy · 30/09/2018 09:06

Lurk every day, have done for years. Amazing place- amazing clever, caring, funny women. In RL I'm challenging what I can, where I can. Public sector role makes this hard at work.

What I've learnt reading FWR about myself, my relationships with others and the world has changed my life.

SamPotatoes · 30/09/2018 09:06

I have a look here everyday but don't have the time to post. I loved reading that thread in site stuff about why people use MN and seeing all the fellow FWR lurkers.

Dh has also become a big fan of MN FWR after learning about things from Graham Linehan.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 30/09/2018 09:09

I was just about to post an OP saying the same thing! Welcome lurkers and please don't be shy to post. Even if someone Datun has said it better an 'I agree' or even 'me too' is a valuable contribution.

holyshitballs · 30/09/2018 09:10

Morning, long time lurker here! This is my first fwr post...I love this board, it's made me think critically about a lot of topics. I read something here everyday.

FloraHiggins · 30/09/2018 09:12

Post very infrequently so I’m going to self identify as a lurker (too soon?). Have learnt huge amounts and it’s inspired me to have these conversations in real life - I managed to get my very liberal, left wing Canadian cousin to see what my concerns were and she now agrees that third spaces or a solution that doesn’t impinge on women’s rights is a better way. Would not have been able to find the words if it hadn’t been for these boards.

WatchOutForTheCar · 30/09/2018 09:14

I never post here but am an avid reader. My eyes have been opened so much because of this board... but I don't yet feel clever enough to join in properly!

EndoplasmicReticulum · 30/09/2018 09:14

Hello, another lurker here, I read a lot but don't contribute much sorry. I am trying to help in other ways by making (small) donations, filling in things etc.

Screamqueenz · 30/09/2018 09:16

I lurk here so that I've got the right words to get the message out in real life.
I've been speaking to friends and family, but particularly friends of my teenage sons, their female friends feel that they have to accept self id trans women without question.

OracleofShelf · 30/09/2018 09:16

Lurked here for a while, and yesterday braved my first GC Facebook post- got a couple of likes, which was encouraging Smile

If all us lurkers inform just a few people, we will be able to restore sanity!

bluetitsaretits · 30/09/2018 09:19

Good morning everyone
Newbie here ( joined yesterday after long term lurking )- just popping in again to say a big thank you for being here.
This forum is incredible -the knowledge is amazing and the quality of debate is a brilliant antidote to the shouty nonsense elsewhere online.
It was a bit scary to make this step as I don't want to accidentally derail, feed the trolls or provide twatter screenshots.
I'm also rather in awe of the long term posters here. Massive round of applause to you all!

SophoclesTheFox · 30/09/2018 09:22

This is giving me shivers Grin

Big fistbump to all of you!

HairyPotter · 30/09/2018 09:24

I’ve lurked for years too but I’m so incensed recently, I’m beginning to post a littlle. I’m talking to both my dcs about some of the issues and my previously woke eldest was horrified when I explained how self id will impact not only her but her younger (teenage) sister.

Mummylin · 30/09/2018 09:30

I have recently posted on a feminist thread for the first time. I totally agree with the majority of people about the danger of women's safe spaces. I also fear that women are being shut down, and this cannot be allowed. I think that Magdalen Bernes and Posie Parker are fabulous.
You are all doing excellent work.

I am Spartacus

Tidy2018 · 30/09/2018 09:34

What do the initials FWR stand for? Thank you.

3TresTrois · 30/09/2018 09:38

Morning!

Avid reader of the Feminism boards, but only a very occasional poster.

I’m not as articulate or knowledgable as many of the regulars, so rarely have anything to add, but I can’t say enough how bloody brilliant I think you all are. You express what I think and feel and give me the words (and courage) to express myself in my own life and my conversations.

Thank you.
