Stonewall would probably argue some of its staff identify as black and that there is an over-representation of feminine genders, so that's alright then.

what's the picture of Pam?

Aridane · 15/09/2018 21:47

Am missing the point - half the people in the picture are woman??

theOtherPamAyres · 15/09/2018 21:49

The photo shows Stonewall's staff.

Possibly the least diverse organisation to receive government funding and sponsorship, ever?

Depends how you define women I suppose...

Bisexual but no gay or lesbian??

MyAuntyBadger · 15/09/2018 22:01

It looks like a lot of the people in the picture dress as women. I wouldn't say they are women though, not in the same way that I am.

littlbrowndog · 15/09/2018 22:03

Looking all white ppl ther3 to me

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 15/09/2018 22:03

6%?

Was that photo taken on 'Bring a trans friend to work' day?

MyAuntyBadger · 15/09/2018 22:03

Just had a closer look, I would suspect every single one of them was given a boys name when they were born.

CrackpotsArePots · 15/09/2018 22:05

Feck

No - and this is why:

"Today, society has moved on and Stonewall no longer needs to maintain a strict distinction between sexual orientation and gender identity. Historically, we thought it was the right thing to do. Over the last four months I’ve spoken to hundreds of trans people who say we were wrong to maintain that distinction and we made it worse by making mistakes. We recognise the impact of mistakes we have made in the past. We are aware that we have missed opportunities to open up this conversation far sooner. We apologise to trans people for the harm that we have caused"

Quote by CEO of Stonewall, female lesbian Ruth Hunt

Translation: I've been gaslighted by lots of heterosexual men who identify as women that they are therefore lesbians

VickyEadie · 15/09/2018 22:42

And the mystery as to why Stonewall are gleefully throwing women under the bus continues.

FourAlarmFire · 15/09/2018 22:50

I don’t think that is a picture of Stonewall staff, it looks like the trans advisory group. Yes there are fewer out trans people (& LGB people) who are from BAME backgrounds but that’s something Stonewall actively addresses.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 15/09/2018 22:54

No I can see natal women in there.

littlbrowndog · 15/09/2018 22:55

Really ?

Don’t look like their actively addressing it is working tbh

VickyEadie · 15/09/2018 22:55

"Actively addresses"? Because they'd like to increase the numbers?

ShackUp · 15/09/2018 22:58

timelady can I just clarify that 'gay' wasn't mentioned in that rundown?

So the gay rights organisation Stonewall has erased gay/lesbian people?

I can't fucking believe this madness.

NobodyToVoteForNow · 15/09/2018 23:01

Nearly all the 'women' in that photo are actually men. Theres an actual woman somewhere near the back. I guess she knows her place.

FourAlarmFire · 15/09/2018 23:03

Yes it actively addresses under-representation and has quite a few BAME staff who are not in that photo! (Also, I have no idea where the 95% male comes from. That’s definitely not true. Even if you count trans women as male then surely you’d count trans men as female! And there are most definitely trans men in that photo.) Seriously. Write to Stonewall and ask questions if you’re interested but don’t jump to conclusions based on a misleading photo on Twitter.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 15/09/2018 23:05

Difficult in a photo but grey cowl neck near front. She's got short hair. That's how I know Wink

littlbrowndog · 15/09/2018 23:06

It’s not misleading. The picture is what it is

littlbrowndog · 15/09/2018 23:07

Not one person who isn’t white in it

FourAlarmFire · 15/09/2018 23:13

It’s misleading to say the photo is representative of Stonewall staff who are far more diverse. And it’s misleading to say the people in the photo are all male. I think there is a wider issue about why charities tend to attract rich white people but I don’t think that’s specific to Stonewall.
