This is how traffic to the feminism board has increased

You're going to love this.

Number of people entering the MN site via the Feminist Chat topic:
June 2016: 15,000
June 2018: 177,000

That's a TWELVE-FOLD increase.
And that's just people entering the MN site directly into femchat. Lots of people enter Mumsnet via other routes like active talk, and then navigate to the feminism boards next.

Overall site visits in June 2018 compared to June 2016 showed an increase from 17M to 26M, which is a very healthy increase of 53%. But the impressive twelvefold increase in visitors going directly to feminism shows a significant change in behaviour.

Keep talking, brilliant women of feminist chat.
People are taking notice.

Thanks to @MNHQ for responding to my request. And if others find this stuff interesting, join me in asking MNHQ to share more data like this with us.

(I'd like to know overall visits to femchat as a proportion of site traffic, and see if that has changed too)

I think once you've seen 'suck my lady dick' tweeted at women, there's no going back. It really is short-sharp-shock peak-transing.

I therefore feel compelled to again share that IWD 'wish' from our Favourite Lady.

For all the thousands of words we write, I don't think we actually peak trans many directly. More that they read our words (in disbelief of what we say) and then go over to check out 'the other side', and get greeted with IWD 'wishes', the death threats, the rape threats, doxxing threats, and a big side-serve of narcissism. And of course the ever-tasteful 'lesbians must take my ladycock because I am a lesbian too'. Not rapey at all, nosiree.

The Followers of Genderism be peaktransing regular people en masse. It's a beautiful thing. Keep it up! Wine

I’ve been seeing more Aussie and Canadian posters (and TRA pot stirrers) in FWR recent months. I wonder how much of the new traffic is international

I believe there have always been some international posters at FWR. But the nature of it, and the internet generally, has meant a bigger cross-over (at least here, more visibly) but we have always been a collection of international radical feminists. Also, don't think for a minute that 'self-ID' is strictly a UK thing. Far from it.

ThelmaRB · 11/07/2018 07:46

Fascinating to see those figures. I came to mumsnet originally through AIBU, where the impact of trans ideology was raised through a couple of threads and moved to FWR and have never left. I’m a bit addicted and have had my eyes opened to so many issues. Fighting the good fight on Twitter and using FWR threads to back up my tweets with strong arguments and good science from the hugely knowledgeable posters here. The quality of writing here is fantastic. Via Twitter I access a lot of trans ideology nonsense and it’s so limited, aggressive and unpleasant. The contrast with FWR is enormous. Please keep up the good work; I am learning so much every day. Surely Mumsnet can’t afford to lose the traffic generated by FWR - this gives me hope the boards will stay.

LittleLebowski · 11/07/2018 08:31

Just made essentially the same point on the Bergdorf thread Thelma. For theory, medical and scientific links, background knowledge and detailed arguments, you can't do better then here. It's certainly what led me to this issue, as well as others and made me join. No wonder so many journalists quote these threads for their own articles.

LangCleg · 11/07/2018 08:45

And never forget: FWR is the voice of the 82%.

PersonWithAVulva · 11/07/2018 09:50

Yes, very heartening to see those numbers. Transactivism certinly is awakening the inner feminist in many women. IT certainly did for me,I am almost ashamed to admit that as little as a couple of years ago I was one of thos ewomen who thought feminism was no logner needed as we were equal and such. This new assault on womens rights has well and truly opened my eyes. For that, and that alone, I thank MRAs/TRAs.

PersonWithAVulva · 11/07/2018 09:56

I also very rarely venture into chat and AIBU these days, where I used to be on those constantly. I tend to stay in FWR, and can easily waste an entire day in what feels like a few minutes. I love the women here, and I so enjoy having a (majority) female space. MN is unlike any place I have ever chatted before, in that regard.

BlackeyedSusan · 11/07/2018 10:17

oh fuck, have I been spennding that much time here?

howonearthdidwegethere · 17/04/2019 15:24

Hi @MNHQ - any chance you could give us some updated stats on the usage of the Feminist Chat board, i.e.

*how many hits does it get, compared with other boards?
*how many hits does it get, compared with previous years?

Many thanks.

Anlaf · 17/04/2019 19:08

seconded for stats request! I didn't see the thread the first time, that was a stonking increase between 2016 and 2018.

littlbrowndog · 17/04/2019 19:21

Yeps. That would be good
When. I first came it was pretty quite. Now it’s like wow

Skyzalimit · 17/04/2019 19:52

Don't assume your visitors are here to agree with you.

Fridakahlofan · 17/04/2019 19:57

Any tips on getting similar traffic to the ethical living / environment boards? We need energy there to encourage others to save the planet rather than burying heads!

nauticant · 17/04/2019 19:57

That's by-the-by. Just so long as enough of the public find out what's going on. Once this issue falls under the public gaze, trans activists will have to wind it right back or they will really damage their cause. I'm OK with either outcome (although have a preference for the latter).

Mrscaindingle · 17/04/2019 20:02

I joined MN via the relationship board which was very helpful and illuminating at the time.
Now I pretty much come straight here and maybeTelly Addicts for a bit of light relief.

Needmoresleep · 17/04/2019 20:17

A related question for all those not using ad-blocker.

Has anyone bought one of those gay cruises those nice looking boys keep advertising.

It strikes me as the least well targeted advertising ever.

Anlaf · 17/04/2019 20:17

Don't assume your visitors are here to agree with you.

I thought the point of this place was to discuss feminism, and yes, very often, disagree with each other?

Guyliner · 17/04/2019 20:19

Don't assume your visitors are here to agree with you

Well surely they'd speak up. Mumsnet is perhaps the least threatening internet forum that i can think of so it's safe for anyone with any belief to speak up. If the forum was as riddled with transphobia like certain posters claim I think there would be quite a lot of activists pulling us up on it.

Guyliner · 17/04/2019 20:22

It strikes me as the least well targeted advertising ever.

Im assuming that it's something to do with the fact that we discuss transgender stuff here and they're just hitting any place that discusses lgbt stuff?

I doubt they've sold any of their cruises here though...

HermioneWeasley · 17/04/2019 20:23

Holy advertisers, Batman! Those figures are brilliant

We are legion. And we have money. Unlike those begging on twitter to keep them in blue lipstick.

Anlaf · 17/04/2019 20:27

I accidentally nosily clicked on the cruises for gay men ad and they did follow me, penguin bollard style, for a time.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 17/04/2019 21:44

Don't assume your visitors are here to agree with you.

We do notice the mra who post on fwr.

AverageAvenger · 17/04/2019 21:52

I enter through Feminist Chat and read a number of threads every day without fail. It is the best place on the Internet.

LangCleg · 17/04/2019 22:24

Don't assume your visitors are here to agree with you.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 17/04/2019 22:46

Don't assume your visitors are here to agree with you

Well no

I thought that was the point of internet forums...discussion and all that

Or do you normally hang around places where everyone agrees with you

Must be kinda boring
