This is how traffic to the feminism board has increased

You're going to love this.

Number of people entering the MN site via the Feminist Chat topic:
June 2016: 15,000
June 2018: 177,000

That's a TWELVE-FOLD increase.
And that's just people entering the MN site directly into femchat. Lots of people enter Mumsnet via other routes like active talk, and then navigate to the feminism boards next.

Overall site visits in June 2018 compared to June 2016 showed an increase from 17M to 26M, which is a very healthy increase of 53%. But the impressive twelvefold increase in visitors going directly to feminism shows a significant change in behaviour.

Keep talking, brilliant women of feminist chat.
People are taking notice.

Thanks to @MNHQ for responding to my request. And if others find this stuff interesting, join me in asking MNHQ to share more data like this with us.

(I'd like to know overall visits to femchat as a proportion of site traffic, and see if that has changed too)

It's like when you look at the most popular threads on The Spectator. If there's a transgender themed thread it's always there. People don't want the debate shut down they want to have the debate and look at and discuss the issue because it has implications for all of us especially women.
I started coming here after Y chromosomed people started winning medals in women's sport. I'd been a Guardian reader and didn't understand why they were ignoring the issue. The TWAW campaign then started and then Labour allowed TW on all women shortlists and a certain Labour Party woman's officer seemed to have no interest in XX women and all the bonkers talk of lady penises, gender self ID and hormones for kids who liked the "wrong" toys surfaced.
It became obvious that transwomen had changed from a few nonthreatening folk who'd had full transitioning surgery and were just getting on with their lives in the opposite gender, to people with no genital surgery and no intention to have genital surgery who just wanted to claim women's medals and women's places in everything and make the term woman meaningless whilst aggressively suppressing women who resisted this nonsense and brainwashing officials and kids.

FWR is bloody funny akso💪🏻💪🏻 Thanks barracker

ALittleBitofVitriol · 10/07/2018 22:25

I'm one of those numbers I think.
I came here through a link from, I think maybe an article? Hmmm.
I was squeezed out of any gender critical discussions anywhere else. They were all shutdown. This place is satisfying at a deep level, you women are smart and funny and brave. You inspire me afresh every morning!

FermatsTheorem · 10/07/2018 22:30

"Radicalised by motherhood" is a phrase one of my RL friends uses a lot. I think re "genderism as a religion" it all boils down to this - once you've pushed 8lb of mini-human out your foof, no-one, but no-one is going to persuade you that reproductive biology is a social construct.

BettyDuMonde · 10/07/2018 22:43

Fermats after three days of trying, my 9 and a half pound upside down baby came out through the sunroof.

Same effect in terms of understanding the material reality of biology though!

coconuticecream55 · 10/07/2018 22:44

Wow - thanks barracker! This is very encouraging! We are getting somewhere, slowly but surely!

Bumbungo · 10/07/2018 22:52

Barracker

Inspired question and well done to MNHQ for replying

The feminist boards here are the best thing on the internet, hands down.

Long may it continue

Gin for all who come here

sawdustformypony · 10/07/2018 22:53

Does this account for those change names ?

daddyorchipz · 10/07/2018 23:07

Complete lurker who is (cowardly) afraid of rl comeback because of job. Not counted in numbers as tend to arrive via active posts.
HCP who works in women only services.

We are GC.
We see the misogyny.
We are many.
We are the advertisers target audience.
We are increasingly informed and angry (thanks to the wonderful people on this board)
We will always recognise the difference between biological sex and gender.
We do not hate people - we hate the boxes people are forced into.
We are Spartacus.
We matter.

BabyItsAWildWorld · 10/07/2018 23:09

I've been here for years: chat was my home before even AIBU existed.
I was on baby led weaning, breast feeding, baby names and style and beauty.

Now my browser brings me straight to FWR.

This is where it's at.
Thank you sisters.

DramaAlpaca · 10/07/2018 23:14

Wow! How excellent is that? Thanks for asking & sharing OP.

itswonkylampshade · 10/07/2018 23:20

Fascinating. I actually hid the Feminism topic a long while ago because I was so sick of the trans debate and thought it was irrelevant hysteria - until I saw the aggression coming from TRAs. It’s vital to be able to talk about what this all means and to be able to advocate for our children who are going to be vulnerable to this absolute claptrap.

Thank you all for the posts - suspect there are many people like me who don’t post often but who are being educated every single day.

LadyJaneGreyspen · 10/07/2018 23:20

Ohh i am another aibu then end up in feminist chat. A guardian reader and now thanks to mumsnet (you arses) a DM reader too.

I was also hey leave those trans alone (thinking back to brighton 1990s) peoples choice for prostitution . What is wrong with unisex? kind of feminist.

Then having children and getting old also Anne Ruzylo and the LM debacle peppered with a bit of suck my lady dick truly fucked me off.

The realization that prostitution isnt a choice, female spaces are important.

Wanting my children not to be box in by some crappy gender fairy baking pink and blue muffins sprinkled with gender feelings

Female is biology.

ToeToToe · 10/07/2018 23:56

I think once you've seen 'suck my lady dick' tweeted at women, there's no going back. It really is short-sharp-shock peak-transing.

SpareRibFem · 11/07/2018 01:01

Reproductive issues very much show us the absurdity of the idea of woman as a social construct. It doesn't matter whether we've had children through natural child birth or CS, whether we've tried and failed to conceive or made a conscious decision not to have children.

All of those make the point to us that we're female

blackdoggotmytongueagain · 11/07/2018 02:35

The fair Danielle didn’t bother to call it a lady-dick. Straight to the point, that one.

Good show on the numbers, chaps Grin I’d love to see how they have changed on FWR from way back when. We’ve always HAD unwanted visitors, it’s just their clothing choices that have changed...

Movablefeast · 11/07/2018 03:41

I didn't used to start in Feminist chat but especially in the past year or so I have been reading these threads first, or looking for feminist threads in Active. Sometimes I get so depressed by the injustices I am reading about I wander off and read around lots of other topics but now I come here to hear the truth on contemporary issues or at least free speech about them that I literally cannot find anywhere else.

We are the lowest of the low because we are not just women but PARENTS who seem to be blamed for creating unnatural barriers between ideology and children.

Movablefeast · 11/07/2018 03:49

BTW what is FWR?

EmpressWeaponisedClitoris · 11/07/2018 04:12

FWR is Feminism & Women's Rights.

If MN are getting their figures from Google Analytics, which I assume they are, then namechanges shouldn't make a difference.

Movablefeast · 11/07/2018 04:52

Thank you, I view on my phone and I just see the title, Feminism.

boatyardblues · 11/07/2018 07:05

I’ve been seeing more Aussie and Canadian posters (and TRA pot stirrers) in FWR recent months. I wonder how much of the new traffic is international, as the UK seems to unusual in saying: “hang on a minute, we should be debating these proposed legislative changes properly.”
