Abscessed throat - it feels like it's been abraded with drain cleaner and wire wool. I've got a number of abscesses and it's bad enough swallowing my own saliva.

Going back a bit - gosh, isn't a week a long time - but I remember the word melt being used in the West of Ireland as Whores melt, kind of the same sort of insult as the best of you ran down your mother's leg. Disgusting.

Rufus I've always got multiple books on the go, six right now. My to-read pile is hundreds deep and I fully plan to binge at FiLiA tomorrow!

Arranfan so sorry you feel rubbish. My dh had a swallowing disorder some years ago and had to live off liquids for weeks - can you get your GP to prescribe some meal replacement drinks? I think it was Fortijuice we had.
