A friendly place for feminist or general chit chat. Welcome all!

Glad to see women in here looking after ourselves and each other. Life seems a bit like a 24 / 7 assault on reason, logic, feminism and safeguarding. Unbelievable.
Time for Wine - a nice glass of red please (or maybe the bottle).

HerRoyalFattyness · 03/10/2018 19:26

I have had a stressful day

First there was a parent come in and say they think their son is a girl in his head because he likes handbags... (no. He is just a fucking kid!)

Then i had a parent tell me that she was in a rush picking her son up so couldn't chat about her babies day because she had "to get tea on or he will kick off. He'll ask what ive been doing all day"
Erm...youve been at uni all day and have 2 fucking kids to look afyer love, thats without the manchild at home. Argh.

Then a mum came in breastfeeding her baby. Which would be fine. Except she has never breastfed before today and the baby is 8 weeks old

Add to this that i had to abort twins less than three weeks ago, and I've literally just found out (as in yesterday) that my 9 year old has a heart defect, im feeling pretty worn out.

BettyDuMonde · 03/10/2018 20:27

I missed the Manchester WNTT event because the virus my 6 year old had (the reason why I missed the Linda and Venice court appearance) triggered a rare auto immune response. She came out of ICU this morning.

I’m in a Ronald McDonald House for parents of sick kids and it’s absolutely heartbreaking. My daughter has a good chance of recovery but we potentially have years of a very poorly childhood to get through.

How protrans activists can encourage the medicalisation of gender non-conforming children is beyond me.
How anyone could go down the medical route without fully exploring therapy options first is beyond me.

How can it be possible that you can now ‘come out’ as a lifelong medical patient? WTAF?

FloralBunting · 03/10/2018 20:43

Much, much love to all women going through the tough stuff right now. I haven't experienced everything you have, but I hear your pain and I completely empathise.

I have just been in a hot bath, and put on some new PJs and slathered my face in moisturiser and am enjoying a snuggle with my favourite little dude. One of the things I always wanted was a son, so that I could bring up a man who was the kind of individual who be a blessing to the world around him and not an entitled wotsit, and he's doing pretty well so far.

arranfan · 03/10/2018 20:46

Oh, BettyduMonde - I'm heart sorry to read about your travails.

My very best wishes to your child and your family at this wretched time.

HerRoyalFattyness - yes, that would be my definition of a stressful day and then some.

Look after yourself.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/10/2018 21:10

ThanksThanks
I'm so sorry you're going through all that, Betty and HRF. All best wishes to your precious DCs.

HerRoyalFattyness · 03/10/2018 21:36

Im snuggled in bed and messing on my phone when i found this.

Thought I'd share with you lot. Grin

Sorry to read these updates. Sounds hard. Hugs and Gin for all who need them

TheTrickyWitch · 03/10/2018 22:19

So sorry to hear sad news from BettyduMonde and HRF Flowers

I have just spent 2 hours filling out the consultation. Pleased it's done but the lack of thought about women's rights was a constant thread throughout and it has left me pretty deflated.

So I'll offer hot chocolate and female solidarity in the pub to all in need Brew

pombear · 03/10/2018 22:23

Betty lining up one on the bar for you. And HRF

And to all the other awesome females, whatever you're going through.

We are women, we are roaring through it all.

(settles down on worn-sofa in the corner to watch everyone else come and go!)

Thanks Quentin for the place Smile

FermatsTheorem · 03/10/2018 22:29

Stiff drinks for Betty and HRF (or hot chocolate/coffee/pint of tea, whatever your tipple is).

Bowednotbroken · 04/10/2018 16:18

Another one sneaking in through the side door - I've been peeping through the window at you all for ages trying to pluck up the nerve to come in. I actually braved social media today and told everyone to do the consultation- I live in a woke world so it was brave! So I don't think it's too early for a quick one is It?

arranfan · 04/10/2018 16:20

So I don't think it's too early for a quick one is It?

The sun is over the yard arm somewhere - and we all need a bracer now and again as it's positively medicinal.

silentcrow · 04/10/2018 16:30

Gosh, it's lovely in here. Like one of those pubs you keep meaning to pop in on and never get chance.

Loads of love to you, Betty, I was wondering how you were getting on after not being able to make last week. And to HRF, it is so shit when it all piles up on you one thing after another.

Cried all over my DH last night, having also cried all over my mum when I got in from work. The safeguarding aspect has inevitably rocked up into real life and I just feel so helpless.

arranfan · 04/10/2018 16:50

I think a number of us need to lean up on the pub piano while someone plays, "Somewhere, over the rainbow". We can feel emotional while having a proximate cause for it.

Just time for tea then I must gird my loins and chivvy myself along with my work.

terryleather · 04/10/2018 17:09

Flowers for all those suffering and Betty all the best for the recovery of your DC, that sounds horrific.

I'm afraid I'm now about to lower the tone quite substantially by saying I'm finding the FWR board quite hard to deal with today because all I seem to see are the words Vast Hairy Prongs, it's somewhat disconcerting...Grin

arranfan · 04/10/2018 17:25

I can't find a clip, terryleather but whenever I see it, it makes me think of Mrs Doyle.

(While Ted is trying to eat a sausage) They were a bit obsessed with the old...S-E-X. God I'm glad I never think of that type of thing Father. That whole sexual world. God, when you think of it it's a dirty, filthy thing, isn't it Father? Can you imagine Father? Can you imagine Father, looking up at your husband, and him standing over you with his lad in his hand, wanting you to degrade yourself? God almighty can you imagine that Father? Can you picture it there Father? Oh get a good mental picture of it. Can you see him there? Ready to do the business?

terryleather · 04/10/2018 17:33

GrinGrinGrin Yes I remember that scene arran there really is some Father Ted for every occasion...I must admit I was really rather keen on some VHP (as it shall now be called) back in the day but alas menopausal fanny weirder has put paid to that...perhaps I'll have a sedate sweet sherry in the corner as befits my current status and silently remember the good ol' days...Wink

BettyDuMonde · 04/10/2018 22:06

Thanks everyone ❤️

My little lady is out of ICU and onto the stem cell ward (I say ward, there are only 4 beds, all in seperate rooms, so it’s not very much like a ward) and has managed to do half a Frozen-themed jigsaw. Considering she was on a ventilator 36 hours ago, I’m pretty darn happy about that.

I could definitely do with a very stiff drink!

BettyDuMonde · 04/10/2018 22:08

Someone has to link me to an explanation on the Vast Hairy Prong thing - I am so behind the times!

pombear · 04/10/2018 22:27

Popping in for yet another swift one. Leans on the piano next to arran and hums badly.

Betty yay! And as a gift to you, seeing as you've gone through shit, flops out 'vast hairy prongs' onto the bar counter (sadly, link is a bit soggy due to beer sops on counter, but should still work!).

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3384525-vast-hairy-prongs

(I'm guessing the pub isn't a place where we normally should be putting links back out, but I think Betty deserves it this time? Chuck me out of the door otherwise, and I'll wander in link-less next time Smile )

ErrolTheDragon · 04/10/2018 22:48

I can't see any problem with a helpful link out (I can install some discreet portals if required) but never a link in, entrance by the front door only I think?

ErrolTheDragon · 04/10/2018 22:52

Glad to hear she's doing better, Betty - hope you can relax a little yourself and get some decent rest. Gin or whatever?

HerRoyalFattyness · 04/10/2018 22:54

Glad your DD is doing better betty

Im exhausted. But i don't sleep well, so I'll just prop up the bar.

SophoclesTheFox · 05/10/2018 04:23

Sending hugs to betty and HRF Flowers

I cannot sleep. I have menopausal sweats and job worries. Ho hum!

I went through the meno at 42 and the GP will only pony up the HRT with extreme reluctance because "we are quite conservative about that sort of thing". Which is an interesting way of putting it - why not just say "I think you ought to suffer through this, you big crybaby"? So she will only prescribe a low dose that seems to have stopped working and won't increase it.

Yes, I will be changing GPs. When I get a minute.
