That "Violent Woman" thread..

Why was it deleted?

I actually quite like oats in crumble but then I'm a fan of toasted oats. Plus I think a successful crumble is really all about the balance between sugar/butter/flour etc. It's not a good thing to eat if you're low-carbing sadly :(

I'm still intrigued as to how gibbertyflibbert knows with certainty that j4nice bleeds daily and yet isn't j4nice. Most mysterious

AngryAttackKittens · 08/06/2018 22:50

Flatmates? Telepathy?

SupermatchGame · 08/06/2018 22:55

Yes... when other posters have had posts deleted for saying "bless"...

Tut. You may as well just go ahead and mention alt-right potatoes now.

spontaneousgiventime · 08/06/2018 22:57

Awww Have we lost J4nice for good now? Oh well, they were fun while they lasted, no doubt a replacement has been lined up and will appear soon.

MN, your decision to remove the violent women thread appears to be nonsensical!

OrchidInTheSun · 08/06/2018 22:59

Maybe you're right AAK! They're flatmates. One able to construct rational (ish) arguments and the other a raving loon

CourtneyLovely · 08/06/2018 23:11

It was the sprout scones that done it.

Surely removing the post is more like no-platforming than refuting the OP's claims with some actual facts and then sharing recipes...

Btw I'm very interested in almonds as a crumble topping. Ground and mixed in or flaked and on top?

LangCleg · 08/06/2018 23:11

... runs in

YAWNS

... runs out

ErrolTheDragon · 08/06/2018 23:17

Sorry about finding the sprout scones link and other deviant veg cakes.Blush

Well quite. We weren't no-platforming. Of course, if a speaker is tedious, illogical etc, then the audience may start nattering and sidle off towards the refreshments.

BertrandRussell · 08/06/2018 23:18

Ahhh bless....

Yawning late in the evening is surely allowed, though it may be contagious, but running around before bedtime sounds like something that should be discouraged if not banned.

AncientLights · 08/06/2018 23:20

If I remember correctly the pea cake was a standard sponge mix but with peas added. Frozen or fresh? Not sure. Frozen would add to the water content of the cake, possibly disastrously. How green would the cake be? Could I pretend it's really pistachio?

Cooked fruit - I have to cook stoned fruit like plums, apricots etc as am allergic to raw. So fruity crumbles are yummy.

BUT: cream, custard or ice cream on top?

ErrolTheDragon · 08/06/2018 23:22

Or?

AngryAttackKittens · 08/06/2018 23:34

So what you're saying, Errol, is that you prefer a cake to be less cake and more convenient mechanism for delivery of dairy products, like chips are with salsa?

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 08/06/2018 23:44

Its got to be custard

Every time

Ereshkigal · 08/06/2018 23:44

Flaked almonds are fantastic in crumble topping.

BertrandRussell · 08/06/2018 23:45

We once used frozen peas in gin and tonics instead of ice once. It was interesting. Better than warm gin and tonic.....

OP posts:
spontaneousgiventime · 08/06/2018 23:47

I can't eat flour so make my crumble topping with all ground almonds. Highly calorific but oh, so good.

Ereshkigal · 08/06/2018 23:47

Very resourceful:)

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 08/06/2018 23:48

You need to get yourself some of those whisky rocks bertrand

Waddlelikeapenguin · 08/06/2018 23:54

Why dont people like oats in crumble?! Shock

Have you actually tried it? Food of the goddesses Smile fling some ground almonds in too when you're feeling flush.

I'm hungry always now Hmm

ErrolTheDragon · 09/06/2018 00:00

Ah, one of those 'what you're saying' calumnies ... crumble, not cake, and you obviously need more of it if it's got to accommodate multiple toppings.

Fantasy, I'm afraid; the unfortunate reality in my house would be that we never have cream in, DH would have eaten all the custard, the ice cream wouldn't be the right sort of flavour to go on a fruit crumble and so I'd have to settle for a dollop of Greek yogurt.

BertrandRussell · 09/06/2018 00:02

I have in the past put granola in crumble. Does that mean I'm not a feminist?

OP posts:
AngryAttackKittens · 09/06/2018 00:05

I eat my crumble plain with nothing on top at all...

(Runs away)

GrainneWail · 09/06/2018 00:18

Uh oh. I gave dh whiskey bullets for his birthday. If he necks a g&t too quickly would I be responsible for literal violence or would it be self inflicted?

RadicalFern · 09/06/2018 00:24

The peas go WHERE?!
