Why was it deleted?

I need to pack in this working lark. How have I missed a cake thread.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/06/2018 14:51

'Cake threads' are, alas, too much like cake. If they're any good they don't last long.

BertrandRussell · 08/06/2018 14:53

My friend has just forced me to buy the bloody book. I don't need or want any more cookery books. Mumsnet owes me £2.49.

I am so competely CRUSHED by mnhq's decision that I have thought of putting a @ next to J4nice and calling our muse home. After all it was h** (pronounced hastericks, for proper pronounce compliance) thread which started it all.

Writersblock2 · 08/06/2018 15:35

Oooh did people like the book idea then, @BettyFloop? I have to confess, I didn't have much time to pop back to the thread before it was deleted.

spontaneousgiventime · 08/06/2018 16:40

Well this is a bit of a bugger. How are we going to list our daily violent acts now?

LangCleg · 08/06/2018 16:47

@SophieLMumsnet - but why do you keep taking down threads for goading/nastiness days after the nastiness and goadiness has been turned around by some good-natured cake-related banter? Surely this is an example of FWR policing itself? As it is, I am left with the distinct impression it's this mode of self-policing which is being deleted - because if it was for goading/nastiness, it would have gone the first time you looked.

BertrandRussell · 08/06/2018 17:31

I’d like to know that too, Lang.

days after the nastiness and goadiness has been turned around by some good-natured cake-related banter
Because it IS the banter Lang, it happened on the first ‘honey/bees’ thread, days after the original OP post. Remember Margaret Atwood said....(almost) ‘Men (and TRAs and MRAs) are afraid women will laugh at them.....’
And they really, really are, aren’t they?
Won’t stop me joining in next time but I’d sure respect MNHQ more if they admitted it.

Baroquehavoc · 08/06/2018 19:18

I would love to see which posts are reported and why. I suspect many of them are for that reason, juda.

thebewilderness · 08/06/2018 19:29

The pattern is becoming clear, I think.
A misogynist posts threads and is reported.
MN leaves the post up for days.
Misogynist claims are refuted and women have a bit of fun with food.
Thread deleted.

I do not think MNHQ wants newbies to be able to see the misogyny we are constantly subjected to or the way we respond to it.

Ereshkigal · 08/06/2018 20:23

Darn - I really wanted that cherry almond cake recipe posted by someone and I can't remember who! Mums net can you send to me? Thanks

Pretty sure it was @Rufustheyawningreindeer with the cherry almond cake, am I right?

AngryAttackKittens · 08/06/2018 20:26

Remember when someone from HQ said that threads with lots of biscuits could come across as rude, goady, etc? Maybe this is like that, they think it makes them look bad that we're taking the piss rather than gently correcting the original GF like loving parents would.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 08/06/2018 20:33

Cake recipe

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 08/06/2018 20:35

That's exactly what i think happened lang

SupermatchGame · 08/06/2018 20:36

Or is it simply that there is a 'no troll hunting' rule in the guidelines and several specific Baking/ Food/ Cakes forums for recipes?

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 08/06/2018 20:36

Yeah it was erish

I hate the fact that i make it so obvious how quickly i read the thread Grin

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 08/06/2018 20:38

You wanna be very sure of your facts if you are accusing people of troll hunting SMG

theaveragewife · 08/06/2018 20:41

Joining the choir of WTF would anyone put oats in crumble? I would throw that on the floor.

thebewilderness · 08/06/2018 20:42

Are derailing posts and off topic posts now defined as troll hunting?
Interesting.

BertrandRussell · 08/06/2018 20:44

But oats in crumble is delicious!

I'm afraid this is the distinct impression I have.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 08/06/2018 20:48

There's a no TAAT rule in the TGs too and yet here MN are, happily responding to this.

Flexibility it's a grand thing but not for oats in crumble

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 08/06/2018 20:49

And Bertrand I'm really disappointed in you tbh.

And not coming to yours for pudding however much you beg.
