The BBC!

Did you hear R4 PM with Eddie Mair? Amy Desir and Jane Fae were interviewed at 5.15pm.

Actually, I don't think it is a good article, it doesn't touch on the changes already affecting females, where institutions, businesses and organisations are putting policy in place that directly affect the single sex rights of Women. It is a puff piece, imho.

JoanSummers · 29/05/2018 22:51

Lol at Jane Fae doing their best lady voice for the radio. Jane Fae doesn't have a GRC do they? Fae lies and lies and lies to the media at every opportunity.

Why does the BBC never ask about Fae's activism for extreme porn?

AngryAttackKittens · 29/05/2018 23:42

It's about time the BBC started to at least try to acknowledge that this isn't a one-sided issue.

RedToothBrush · 29/05/2018 23:53

Winnie Fred for the BBC to have done a piece at all is progress.

They have been particularly slow at acknowledging the issues.

They are covering this at 850 on the Today Programme on Radio 4 so listen in!

NotTerfNorCis · 30/05/2018 07:02

Good article. Who the heck is Ashleigh Talbot and how did their voice become equal to thousands of GC women?

wishiwassizeeight · 30/05/2018 07:54

And why is the standard response to ANY woman questioned my trans ideology an accusation of ‘whipping up hatred’?

It’s so lazy and tired. Engage properly instead of regurgitating empty soundbites.

wishiwassizeeight · 30/05/2018 07:55

questioning

Melamin · 30/05/2018 08:25

Today have been particularly bad on this. First they regularly broadcast the press releases unquestioningly (this is what peak transed me, especially the woman with the small child who was allegedly transgender, a few weeks before the court case where a child was given residence with his father).
Usually they manage to wheel out a sacrificial Christian or similar.
John humphries did a half hour special that only touched on the problems with self I’d and ended it with an ‘It Is The Future’

I listen to classicfm now.

SquishySquirmy · 30/05/2018 08:36

I heard some of the radio 4 PM interview with Amy and Jane yesterday, and thought it was quite refreshing (if brief).

Mainstream, prime time interview.

Amy was actually able to speak and came across as very articulate and reasonable. I wanted to hear from Jane too (because I do want to hear both sides) but I don't think she did very well. At one point it sounded like she was saying something very off about prisoners, but I need to listen again (was driving and dd was chatting).

It was very good to hear a reasonable, feminist voice presenting feminist arguments as the other side to the Trans debate, rather than a "sacrificial Christian" (as Melamin puts it so well) or a right wing provocateur with dodgy arguments.

Melamin · 30/05/2018 08:43

Oh they are talking over her not going well.

Melamin · 30/05/2018 08:44

They have Nic Williams.

Opheliah · 30/05/2018 08:44

Radio 4 are covering this at 0850

Melamin · 30/05/2018 08:46

it has been on already Ophelia

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/05/2018 09:28

Available to listen again now, 2hrs 39 minutes in.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/05/2018 09:36

Gah. Not as successful as the PM interview, in my view. The nonbinary interviewee was very hostile and talked over Nic Williams repeatedly. At least Nic was able to make the point about the Girl Guides straight off and that was unchallenged.

Aimee Challoner comment article:
'It’s hard tackling transphobia when the BBC propagate it'
(concludes)
"The BBC may see it appropriate to give a platform to those who are abusive online, but I don’t and clearly, neither does Twitter. The type of abuse that goes on online is horrendous and it affects so many people on a daily basis. I’ve previously written about the issue calling for urgent action; I’m pleased to see that Twitter is doing taking it. I am willing to continue have discussions with the BBC and others, on how we can achieve factual news articles that are fair and balanced, and don’t propagate harm against LGBTIQA+ people. Finally, let me make it clear, I am not a man. I have never been, and I never will be. I am a woman. I am open about my trans history, but first and foremost I am a woman. In the Green Party, we are clear on our policy; Trans Women are Women. Trans Men are Men. Non-Binary Identities are Real and Valid."

How deluded Aimee is, that’s quite disturbing.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 31/05/2018 08:15

I agree. Out comes the mantra again.

wishiwassizeeight · 31/05/2018 08:19

He really does believe he is a woman.

I expect this will be deleted as I have pointed out a incontrovertible biological cal fact which of course isn’t allowed.

Destinysdaughter · 31/05/2018 08:25

I got suspended from Twitter yesterday for saying they were a man. Should have known better really but they were banging on about safe spaces and I said, You're a white man. Everywhere is safe for you...

Undecided whether to bother going back on Twitter now. So tired of this shit!

JoanSummers · 31/05/2018 09:43

He really does believe he is a woman

I don't believe that.

I think that these men do believe that we have to pretend they are women. Which is a bit different.

Ereshkigal · 31/05/2018 11:54

How deluded Aimee is, that’s quite disturbing.

Delusions of grandeur too. Wants to be the next Madigan.
