Let's meet up - find/start gender critical feminist groups

There have been a couple of threads recently about finding/starting local gender critical feminist groups in real life, see here and here.

How about we just do it!

If you feel comfortable doing so, please post your nearest large town/city and we can then contact each other by pm (after due diligence with an advanced search) and talk to each other at a local level, and then organise for groups to meet up in real life.

I'll start. I'm in the far north of Scotland so don't really expect anyone very close to me, but would love to find anyone who could meet up in Inverness.

I also know of groups who meet up in Dundee, Glasgow and Edinburgh who I would be willing to pass on your details to.

Many of us are quite rightly cautious of being out in public on this issue, but are simultaneously desperate to find like-minded women. If anyone has any better ideas for us connecting in real life, please post.

The purpose of these groups isn't just to discuss 'trans issues'. They're for women to discuss whatever they want to together. With the ability to say 'no' to the inclusion of any male, be they TW or gc ally. The need arises because too many erstwhile feminist and women's groups have allowed males in, and males have an unfortunate tendency to dominate any conversation.

There are loads of real life groups and internet fora of these types - the latter including MN.

I reckon any male (of any gender) who wants to argue the toss about this and derail this thread is proving the point of why we need all-female groups.

@JackyHolyoake Hi Jacky! how are you? Hope you're keeping well. You and I have had great debates in the past, and I think we know each other's views very well!

SturdyEarmuffs · 17/09/2018 09:53

And in case anyone wonders what Donna thinks of MN, here's another pearl of wisdom.

MNetters are "A bunch of privileged people...organising themselves to wipe us out".

Now people, form an orderly queue to get your groups to invite Donna to come and talk to you about your privilege. Donna will no doubt be inundated but with some careful planning, I'm sure Donna can fit everyone in to Donna's busy schedule.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/09/2018 09:54

Hi Donna. I'll debate with you here. What do you want to choose as the starting point?

Please could you start another thread for it? This one has a specific purpose and has been derailed enough.

Polestar50 · 17/09/2018 09:57

Cheltenham
Does anyone know if CheltFems are GC? I requested to join their FB group a while ago but have not been added

I take your point there ErroltheDragon.

I live in Wiltshire if anyone wants to meet up for a chat. And I have no interest in finding out where anyone lives.

frogintheTyne · 17/09/2018 09:59

I'm in the west of Scotland.Would be interested meet up with GC women.

PeakedinthePeaks · 17/09/2018 10:00

I'm with ErrolTheDragon. Please debate somewhere else or we'll all be making soup and sharing recipes. I'm glad of the reminder to make soup though I must say

Polestar50 · 17/09/2018 10:02

Aha, just found CheltFems twitter (I’m not on twitter) and they have quite a lot of GC tweets

DonnaBe · 17/09/2018 10:06

I love soup! I'm vegetarian so if you do share any recipes, can you make them meat free?

iamawoman · 17/09/2018 10:06

brighton!

frogintheTyne · 17/09/2018 10:10

i noticed some Scottish GC women earlier in the thread. please let me know if you are members of, or know of a GC meet-up group. thank you.

JackyHolyoake · 17/09/2018 10:14

ErrolTheDragon "Please could you start another thread for it?"

My tongue was in my cheek ... Donna and I know each other from Twitter and have had many highly repetitive conversations. We agree to disagree Smile.

JackyHolyoake · 17/09/2018 10:16

If anyone is in the West Midlands please PM me .. we established the West Midlands Feminist Network several months ago. Women are very welcome to join us.

DonnaBe · 17/09/2018 10:19

Take care Jacky Smile

BetsyM00 · 17/09/2018 10:28

scotsheather I'm trying to get Aberdeen info and will be in touch.

I've just sent pms to the other Scottish women who have posted in the last few days. If I've missed anyone please let me know.

Norfolk / Suffolk here.

FunkyBoldRibenas · 17/09/2018 10:37

I thought the thread was clearly labelled Gender Critical Feminist groups? It's not hard to work out that it is for women only.

Derby/Nottingham/Leicester areas here.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 17/09/2018 10:55

Hi BetsyM00, thanks for your pm - I have tried to respond but not sure the message is going through - just getting a blank box coming up on screen and no 'sent' message? I'm a bit of a trek from Glasgow. Anyone in Argyll?

frogintheTyne · 17/09/2018 11:01

BetsyMoo - I'm having the same problem. Tried to reply but getting a blank box after hitting send, either you have now received about 15 identical messages from me, or none at all. Will try again later. Thanks for contacting me :-)

BlueAnemone · 17/09/2018 11:37

Same here - unable to reply, but able to send a new message

ILuvBirdsEye · 17/09/2018 12:12

How would you feel if me had a chat board where they discussed stuff like legislation that affected women and how to extend it to restrict women's rights?

Pmsl, rofl.... (rocks in the corner with maniacal laughter)

You don't need a chat room - there's 99% of the internet as well as ALL the governments in the world to do exactly that!

South west London, btw

Let's meet up - find/start gender critical feminist groups
frogintheTyne · 17/09/2018 12:14

Scrimshaw - I'm often in Mid Argyll at weekends :-)

Tanith · 17/09/2018 12:20

There’s a soup thread in the Recipes section. Look under Feed the World on the main directory. Lots of Veggie threads, too.

Guildford area

BetsyM00 · 17/09/2018 12:30

Scrimshaw and frog, I've pm'd you an email address for contact. MN did that to me before with messages, an annoying quirk that appears randomly.

I'm channelling the Garrick club. If they can be single-sex for reasons of 'camaraderie and banter' then so can we!
