Follow on thread regarding the data breach situation:
___

Dear MNHQ

I'm very grateful for the commitment to free speech you've publicly taken, and for Justine's courage this week.

A former disgruntled employee of MN is writing on Twitter about the 'transphobia' of MN staff, and calling you TERFs. She is showing a great deal of bias and intolerance towards women with feminist views, this may well be her honest opinion, which is no big deal I suppose, since she is no longer an employee.

At least, it isn't an issue until she calls a shout out to her
'friends who still work at MN' to report and take down posts by 'transphobic scum', by which she appears to be referring to any poster objecting to being called TERF by her friend.

Regardless of the personal views of the MNHQ staff, who should be as free to hold their own views as I am mine, I am disturbed that there may be a small contingent of employees who are invested in unfair moderation and will not be applying fair-handed principles, at least if the claims of this ex-employee are credible.

Can you please give posters some reassurance that the difficult job of fair-handed moderation isn't being abused by the 'friends' of ex-employees who are 'reporting it all' and taking down posts because any gender criticism means the poster is 'transphobic scum'?

Thank you.

@AngieMumsnet

Yeah it’s only happened once, I’ve gone and had a look in my history to see if there was anything weird in there but there was nowt.
I was on iOS for iPhone, using Safari. I’ve never had it appear on other websites either. But I think I saw another user mention the problem on a different thread.

UpstartCrow · 19/04/2018 20:05

Actually, reading that Guardian piece, Emma hasn't done her cause any favours. She's made anyone pro trans look like a high risk.

I'm not interested in Emma being more mature. She should have to take some training before she's allowed near a computer in the workplace, and expect to be monitored from now on.

As for her comments about peoples mental health, get over yourself Emma. You're not that important. We're adults, and can manage our own mental health.

@JustineMumsnet @MNHQ

I screengrabbed that tweet but you can’t click through, so I guess it’s been deleted.

It seems to be deleted now. And whether the claims are true or not Emma will learn the hard way female 'allies' are not respected whatsoever as people in their own right. As shown by this TRA paying no heed to how much trouble comes her way.

Flooffloof · 19/04/2018 20:10

no I wouldn't get upset or worried that a handful of MN staff may have access to your email, IP address and previous posts and you may have given your name or address for a competition as well.

Ihaveno,
Have you seen the fwr recently, it's a hive of activity 're self id. And TRAs are quite vocal and seemingly quite violent. Possibly marking women out for TERFy views and then having enough info to doxx them at least or maybe even lose them their job, and the current saying is to bash a terf or something.

FloraFox · 19/04/2018 20:10

That tweet is probably a lie.

Emma Healey will soon realise the TRAs will throw her to the lions to achieve maximum damage for MN on this.

I have it as a screenshot too. I posted it on the update thread.

Ihavenofuckstogive · 19/04/2018 20:13

Assigned - no they're not. People here are getting increasingly concerned about the potential that MN mods are going to use their separate information to piece together to give to political activists to cause harm.

Hasn't happened. No indication it's going to happen. If one MNetter is doxed or comes to harm in any way as a result of this persons actions, I'll be happy to apologise reservedly.

It isn't happening. It is extremely likely to nor happen.

Juells (and Assigned) being an offender (especially high profile or as part of a 'political' agenda' from either side) means you are MORE vulnerable to people seeking info and data breaches as it is of media interest. Did you miss all the public social media 'outings' (all incorrect) of Jon Venables?

If the full records of high profile offenders or patients are accessible by a huge number of people but really, really rarely (I'm not sure ever) leaked online and exposed (Which would be hugely lucrative for the person leaking them) , why would the details of some random uninteresting MNetter be just because she posted anonymously calling LM a man for example.

Sarahconnor1 · 19/04/2018 20:14

Yes it's deleted now. And yes I fear Emma is going to find out the hard way the TRAs are more than happy to throw her under a bus too.

DarthArts · 19/04/2018 20:15

@MNHQ

Thanks for the update on the Q&A thread.

merrymouse · 19/04/2018 20:19

I still can't fathom exactly what EH was trying to prove, if all she was attempting to do was re-post random bits of information that are freely available on the internet.

KeneftYakimoski · 19/04/2018 20:22

I still can't fathom exactly what EH was trying to prove

That she had Inside knowledge, and therefore was an interesting person.

merrymouse · 19/04/2018 20:23

It's not as though you have to work at MN to get a sense of the kind of posts they allow. You just have to visit the site. It's not like facebook or twitter or instagram where you have to be a friend or follower to see some accounts. Anyone can read the threads.

MrsUnderwood · 19/04/2018 20:24

What an arse of a woman she is.

PleaseDontGoadTheToad · 19/04/2018 20:28

So does Emma actually have friends still at MNHQ who are leaking things to her or was she just making that up? I hope MNHQ are looking into those claims. I'm not going to feel secure posting here otherwise.

Juells · 19/04/2018 20:32

It sounded, always, like just scary threats.

Ihavenofuckstogive · 19/04/2018 20:35

Yep. Lots of noise and bluster but nothing actually happens.

greenlanes · 19/04/2018 20:35

Thank you for contacting the ICO. They really do want to work with organisations to ensure that data is properly and legally processed. Thank you for also contacting the police. I regard this woman's actions as deliberate and malicious. Hopefully she will be prosecuted.

Regarding the apology. It is beyond meaningless. I dont wish to see nonsense like that again.

namechanz · 19/04/2018 20:40

So I have namechanged.

What can I do to ensure my information is not used in this way?

Should I ask mumsnet to delete my account and posting history?

If they let an intern have sensitive information then I don't actually feel safe - any ideas Smile

Weezol · 19/04/2018 20:42

What Ken said, and maybe to further her career by becoming 'famous'? To garner likes and retweets?

It's a shame that, during her internship that she failed to notice that:

a) There's plenty of supportive pro-Trans posters on here - see 'Parents of LGBT+ Children' section.
b) There are 'out' transpeople posting here.
c) Many members have zero interest in the FWR boards, in the same way I have no interest in threads on breast feeding.

Emma, in her attempts to do whatever she thinks she is doing has judged Mumsnet users as a homogenous lump and thrown us all under a bus.

She's also clearly demonstrated to future employers that she will break contracts, breach data protocols the law and is a thief.
Way 2 Go Girrrl 🌈!

namechanz MN are answering questions on this thread:

namechanz · 19/04/2018 20:47

Thank you - I really can't believe an intern could do this - don't they go through who has access to confidential information?
