The daily star is apparently reporting that Ian Huntley is now going by 'Nicola'.
Jeremy Vine has tweeted it so it might be covered on his show tomorrow.

You see, I feel really bad for trans people when shit like this happens. Whilst I'm against self-id, I'm obviously not against trans people living the lives they choose. There are no winners here sadly. Even if Huntley does peak trans loads of people, it's not the way I would have chosen to do it. Sad

An independent authority deals with prisoner risk cases.
Anybody deemed to present extra risk would be transferred to a female estate, regardless of common law.
For this reason some violent women are housed in a male estate.
Trans prisoners will be assessed like everybody else.

I thought that Ian Huntley would peak trans people, but it really doesn't seem to have done. There was a flurry of articles about trans prisoners when the story first broke (either saying "not really trans" or "let's talk about trans prison abuse / suicide rates instead") but mostly silence and ignorance. Perhaps that is a reflection of how the media has changed in the last twelve months?

If it definitely happened that he was moved to a female prison and the media picked it up, people would be outraged. They know he's still in a male prison and has a fairly hard life.

Frankly, they can fuck off with that idea. It's offensive to just about everyone, not matter where they stand on the issue. If you don't find it offensive, there's something seriously wrong

So Huntley has changed name from Lianne to Nicola?? Riiiight.

What are the chances of their release from prison? Am I right in thinking that under GGUK's current policy, Nicola/Lianne could apply to become a volunteer, not have to disclose that they're trans-identifying, and because of that not have to disclose that they actually brutally murdered two Brownies aged girls?

I think his parole terms would prevent that.

They are in a bit of a catch 22. They claim continuously that noone would do this. So when people do do it, they have to ignore it. Then go back to claiming it never happens.

Also following their own train of thought on 'anyone who says they are trans is trans'..they simply cannot say that IH is not actually trans, whilst expecting everyone to go along with the magical thinking.

YY. I have seen tweets from Jane Fae stating that Jane would regard Huntley as trans if he self identifies as a woman.

If only the trans community would acknowledge that some sex offenders are taking advantage of these rules, I think it would be a start for consensus between gender critical women and them. But while people like Fae continue to blanket support men like Huntley I can't begin to give any ground. I don't even believe they believe them, they're just holding the line.

@ the apparently serious posters in this thread who are concerned that trans self-identification is what will prevent Ian (and/or Lian) Huntley becoming a Girl Guide volunteer… please think about how you're coming across.
