SomeRandomBird · 23/03/2018 21:57

Lidl, like the rest of the world (bar Mumsnet) have acknowledged the existence of intersex and non binary people.

Shall we all move on now?

Regularhuey · 23/03/2018 21:58

Calm down.

Intersex or trans anyone?

Seriously I am gender critical and I think this question is needed.

Jaxtellerswife · 23/03/2018 22:06

My god there's a dead horse outside that's still been less flogged than this subject

Ragusa · 23/03/2018 22:08

@Regularhuey, @SomeRandomBird, @Palavra oh! Oh! all is not lost on the feminism boards. This gives me hope - you know, of a diversity of views.

No, I don't want everyone to think like me, @thebewilderness but I do want to be able to participate in a discussion without feeling the way I did at school when I had views and a look that differed from my uber-fem barbie doll peers - e.g., snidely ridiculed and then closed down.

Jon66 · 23/03/2018 22:14

Ragusa I'm in total agreement with you. But i think any trans people or organisations on here are probably long gone due to the non inclusive views.

Ragusa · 23/03/2018 22:15

And now I am going to be in trouble for referring to some of my school peers as barbie dolls. But they bloody were, and they bullied me mercilessly so ... as Catherine Tate said....

Terftastic · 23/03/2018 22:16

My god there's a dead horse outside that's still been less flogged than this subject

This is clearly offensive to horses, and literal violence, and inciting violence. And just horsephobic in general.

I shall be reporting to the West Yorks Police forthwith.

Terftastic · 23/03/2018 22:18

Jon66 - trans organisations were never on Mumsnet - no point - they went straight for our schools.

Terftastic · 23/03/2018 22:19

Transpeople are still on here, however. And welcome.

Ragusa · 23/03/2018 22:24

I can't even get excited about trans organisations going into schools.

LGB organisations going into schools don't make pupils catch the gay. Trans orgs going into schools don't make people catch the trans.

JellySlice · 23/03/2018 22:25

But there is no 'other' sex.

This is not about gender or hatred or derogatory names. This is not about how the respondent feels, or expresses themselves. This is about facts.

And these things do need to be noticed and flagged up, otherwise they chip, chip, chip at attitudes, until they are normalised and accepted as truth.

OP posts:
Terftastic · 23/03/2018 22:29

Are you sure, Ragusa?

You don't think that telling gender non-conforming children that they could have been born the wrong sex - and can take pills to become the other sex - might have an influence? That's different from sexual orientation.

AreYouTerfEnough · 23/03/2018 22:35

Jelly perhaps Other relates to life forms who don’t have a sex, like single cell organisms. Or fungi which have 36,000 sexes.

We have to be inclusive. Mushrooms shop in Lidl literally all the time.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 23/03/2018 22:36

Well at least it didn't have 'Dont know'.

thanksjaneshusbandatcaresouth · 23/03/2018 22:37

Ragusa,
Please stick around and keep disagreeing.

thebewilderness · 23/03/2018 22:43

You need to learn to manage your own feelings just as most of the women here have learned to do. Srsly! Ask yourself the "is it me or is it them question" and then give it serious thought. Sometimes it is one and sometimes the other. You can learn to tell the difference.
I understand what you want, but you will not get it until you realize that you are not the main character in the story of other people's lives.

AreYouTerfEnough · 23/03/2018 22:44

Omg, I would totally tick Don’t Know 😂

Ragusa · 23/03/2018 22:44

Are you seriously comparing trans people, and people who do not identify as male or female/ man/ woman, to mushrooms? Seriously??? Folks. Cop on to yourselves.

thanksjaneshusbandatcaresouth · 23/03/2018 22:45

“I understand what you want, but you will not get it until you realize that you are not the main character in the story of other people's lives.”

Ouch bloody hell woman! Cutting!

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 23/03/2018 22:47

I'm pretty sure intersex people choose a sex to live by, they don't announce themselves to all and sundry as "others". I thought we weren't allowed to other people nowadays anyway? Ffs... Hmm

Ragusa · 23/03/2018 22:48

wow, @thebewilderness, thanks so much for explaining that for me. Have you ever considered transitioning to become a bloke, because you'd make a fantastic mansplainer?

Ereshkigal · 23/03/2018 22:48

Are you seriously comparing trans people, and people who do not identify as male or female/ man/ woman, to mushrooms?

I doubt it was seriously meant. That's some top class pearl clutching there Ragusa. Mind they don't break!

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 23/03/2018 22:50

If you look on a user’s profile it says “gender” too (if they have that information available).

thanksjaneshusbandatcaresouth · 23/03/2018 22:51

“I can't even get excited about trans organisations going into schools.”

I disagree with you there Ragusa.

I’d be much happier if they started with the idea that a healthy body is the right body.

I think it’s a really bad thing that the Mermaids lady has such influence. I don’t judge her for her own (child’s) story but she is only human so her views will never be objective. She will tend to see kids who “are trans” wherever she looks.
