Re the frustration - I'm a bit more chilled about it. He has previously nailed his colours to the mast about this and the fact that he is acknowledging that there IS an issue is progress. We all know how convoluted and difficult an issue it is - there are so many factors and the absolute vulnerability of trans people IS evident and very hard to deal with without coming over as uncaring.

Small steps - but in fact majorly big steps today.

So, I’ve thought of an analogy to help men like James O’Brien who just don’t get it:

Teachers have to be CRB checked because there have been inicidents of people getting jobs in school to access children for nefarious purposes. So there is gate keeping to keep children safe. We as a society accept this.

OF course, NATALT(Not all teachers are like that). I’m not offended about being CRB checked to protect children. You don’t hear teachers complaining about being oppressed by the system of checks and balances.

Would we give up this system if people were offended by having to go through the process? No.
