3 days before it's a month old.

Would be amazing to make it to 10,000 by 1 month...

We need some catalyst from somewhere.

We need someone with a big SM following to link the petition. Do journalists ever do things like that?

BlackeyedSusan · 10/04/2018 00:46

9373 (+96)

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 10/04/2018 01:08

Robert Webb or Graham Linehan might do it, if someone can tweet at them?

Melamin · 10/04/2018 10:42

9416 - inching there. Onwards and upwards. Smile

BlackeyedSusan · 10/04/2018 11:56

Already 50+ today, better than a few days ago when there were only 28.

Melamin · 10/04/2018 11:57

9430 - galloping away this morning Grin

NoSquirrels · 10/04/2018 12:20

I'd love Robert Webb to tweet the petition. He retweeted the Hadley Freeman article.

However, he has a book to promote. I suspect like other people with a profile he will be advised to be wary of lending full-blown support to a position that is currently being smeared by the other side with accusations that A Woman's Place is transphobic etc.

I assume that journalists are not at liberty themselves to promote a petition - but that may be a false assumption? But apart from the Independent it has not been linked to, and all the journalists who have covered this from a women's rights angle will be aware of the petition.

It pains me to say it, but Piers Morgan would probably be more likely to retweet it than anyone!

I wonder if the weightlifter story has woken a few people up?

SimonBridges · 10/04/2018 12:40

What is the weight lifter story. I’ve seen some comments about it but I’m not sure what it is.

Melamin · 10/04/2018 12:50

Laurel Hubbard, who transitioned at 39 having been a male competitive weightlifter, and was representing NZ at the commonwealth games as a woman. Injured elbow.

That’s the beginning of the end then for women’s sport isn’t it.

BlackeyedSusan · 10/04/2018 17:25

who was the third placed woman?

BlackeyedSusan · 10/04/2018 18:47

four more to get to a hundred signatures today.

Ereshkigal · 10/04/2018 18:58

That's not bad!

mummybear701 · 10/04/2018 19:17

who was the third placed woman?

Campbell, as it tells you. If Hubbard had competed in the final it could have been different.

Melamin · 10/04/2018 21:08

I think it has got past 100 today Smile

Waddlelikeapenguin · 10/04/2018 21:55

Alas I am not twitter literate at all but if lots of people tweeted it at one person at the same time would it make it more noticeable?

I wonder about comedians like Ricky Gervais & david baddiel too.

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 10/04/2018 22:04

Waddle, that would only really work if the followers were following both parties or if the celeb/big name interact (like/reply/rt) a tweet.

A good way to go would be replying (as one of the first replies) to their tweets - so they become part of the reply chain. Or replying to a newspaper article tweeted out. So say when Hadley Freeman tweeted about her article the other week, it would have been ideal if someone had immediately tweeted below her tweet as a reply “This is really interesting, that’s why many women are asking people to sign this government petition. Link. We already have 9000 signatures but at 100,000 it goes to parliament. Help retain self spaces and fair play for women!”
That way people who go to look at the replies to her tweet and get into the reply chain would see the link.

DNAnotGRA · 10/04/2018 22:10

Disappointed at the response, had hoped to reach 100,000 to start a parliamentary debate, evidently not many people think this is a major issue. Perhaps the time it will come into focus is when a chap has to beat seven hells out of another chap who has entered the same facilities as his daughter?

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 10/04/2018 22:14

We still have another 5 months to go though.

CATTamongthepigeons · 10/04/2018 22:15

I have it up attached to Jeremy Vine’s Ian Huntley story. 70 RTs so far. Quite pleased with that!

DNAnotGRA · 10/04/2018 22:19

I sent a DM to Michelle Dewberry in the hope she would promote it, no response, why am I not surprised?

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 10/04/2018 22:20

Do you have a link to that tweet CATT?
