I am about to ID as a man

In 1.5 hours, I will be identifying as a gay man who does not conform with male gender stereotypes. I expect my local leisure facility to comply with the Swim England guidelines and agree that I am entitled to access the men-only swimming sessions, the male showers and toilets and to wear swimming trunks. I also expect them to re-educate any other man who objects to any of the above.

In other words, I have a meeting with the local swimming pool at 10 to see whether or not I’ll be resorting to topless swimming and public nudity tonight in an effort to prove my point that the Swim England guidelines are ridiculous Blush

Wish me luck!

This is genius.

Ereshkigal · 23/02/2018 13:28

I think I love you OP Thanks

TrustNaeFuckerEver · 23/02/2018 13:29

If anyone is concerned that men might be well up for a bit of breast-ogling when women use the male changing rooms then there's an easy solution.

Wear a comedy false beard and a (less comedic) 12" strap-on.

I doubt there's many Conchita Wurst fetishists at your local swimming pool/gym.

CanIBuffalo · 23/02/2018 13:31

Op you are the Best Man Ever.

YesItsADebate · 23/02/2018 13:32

AntiGrinch I attended the meeting today and have interacted with the leisure chain sincerely as a self-ID man. My purpose in doing so is to make a point.

Because I am willing to bet that Djnoun is not actually a woman, bisexual or not.

Yep.

YesItsADebate · 23/02/2018 13:34

LangCleg sadly for you - but very happily for me - my DP is the kindest, awesome-est chap I know. I'm sure you're also kind and awesome but I am very definitely taken. Sorry :(

More self ID TiFs need to make some noise. Let's push this ideology to its limits. Why do they TiMs get all the airtime, eh?

hmcAsWas · 23/02/2018 13:38

In admiration of you OP

soupforbrains · 23/02/2018 13:41

Sorry for my previous post the pages after page 2 weren't loading for me until I posted!

You've done amazingly well. I am impressed but your thoughtful approve, bravery and implacability. You're an absolute star and I much admire your resolve.

TerfsUp · 23/02/2018 13:41

OP, you are a star!

Aloneinacrowd70 · 23/02/2018 13:42

Thank you for your bravery in doing this.

whiteroseredrose · 23/02/2018 13:42

Just caught up. Fab job.

mirialis · 23/02/2018 13:42

Amazing OP!

I hadn't really thought about this, but a few years ago I did a long wilderness expedition type thing. In the past it was pretty much always men doing it, and it is still predominantly men and so some of the huts you stay in haven't really got up to speed with proper unisex facilities. So there are 2 cubicles, 4 urinals and 2 sinks all in a very, very small bathroom area, with the urinals literally right next to the sinks. When my female friend and I were in the bathroom area washing out our sweaty sports bras etc, only one man used the urinal in our presence. A couple used the cubicles but most walked in, saw us, and turned straight around and went for an outdoor wee - in very unpleasant outdoor conditions - instead.

I really don't think men are going to want self-ID transmen sitting around chatting in the locker room, by the urinals, and visibly leaving used sanpro in bins...

TerfyMcTerface · 23/02/2018 13:45

I'm in fits of laughter reading your updates, OP. Do you think they realised you were making a point

I was wondering about this too. Did they know that you were making a point? Did you know that they knew? Did they know that you knew that they knew? Did you know that they knew that you knew that they knew?

OohMavis · 23/02/2018 13:46

This is amazing. That's all I have to say,

TerfyMcTerface · 23/02/2018 13:48

visibly leaving used sanpro in bins... and cleaning our manstrual cups in the washbasins.

StellaHeyStella · 23/02/2018 13:48

You are a gentleman and a scholar op, I salute you.

Dani240 · 23/02/2018 13:50

OP I'm in awe of you, well done! Look forward to hearing how it all pans out.

Alienspaceship · 23/02/2018 13:51

Well done op - and thank you.

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 23/02/2018 13:52

Swinging a manpon by its string as you head for the toilet...

MrPan · 23/02/2018 13:52

Thank you for this. I'll admit I stay away from the feminism board and from trans threads normally. I've never had a problem with sharing spaces with either sex/ gender and I suppose selfishly never thought about it from anyone else's perspective.

I do think that everyone should be allowed to self id their own gender. But gender isn't what matters here. It's sex. It shouldn't matter what gender you are, some spaces should still be sex segregated. (Though I agree with PP's that there at least should be a third space, or it should be all individual cubicles).

This has shown me in simple terms just what this bill means. And I'm more than happy to swim with my man breasts out and my man period dripping down my leg. Just like a woman can have her lady penis out in the female changing area.

Collidascope · 23/02/2018 13:58

I've read all the thread and not once has the OP started a post with,
"Man here"
If you're going to live as a man, best work on that entitled attitude OP..

Yes, and perhaps a name change is in order, OP. Something that demonstrates your importance. Maybe 1MAN2BREASTS?
