I’m a woman.

Not a “cis woman”. Just a woman. Sometimes I wear makeup, sometimes I don’t. I can put the bins out and I can cook...sometimes I don’t fancy doing either.

I have opinions and I like to express them.

Stop taking posts down MNHQ!!! Let us speak, on the safe forum that is Mumsnet. That is all.

Let’s see how long this one stays up...

We do currently have a thread taken down temporarily

Threads that are 'temporarily' taken down never come back.

PositivelyPERF · 04/02/2018 21:42

ItsNotUnusualToBe that’s brilliant.

Mindhunter · 04/02/2018 21:53

I am a woman

I never wear makeup
I've never have beauty treatment
I ride motorbikes
I build furniture
I hate rom coms
I've shaved my hair off and also had long hair
I've given birth 3 times
I keep rats
Never wear dresses or heels
I work as a secretary
I never ever cry or show emotion

I am a woman and I'm sick of being told I should have been a man just because I don't fit into these stupid stereotypical roles.

PracticallyTerfectInEveryWay · 04/02/2018 21:54

I think I have missed quite a bit today.

I am a woman.

Woman = an adult human female = of the sex class that produces gametes of the ovum variety. XX chromosomes in every cell of my body.

Not that I ever needed one, but once I had one of those foolproof genetic tests of my femaleness: I ovulated, had sex, got pregnant, gestated a fetus and gave birth.

AreYouOrHaveYouEverBeenATERF · 04/02/2018 22:02

I have long hair.

I often wear heels, dresses.

I always wear makeup.

^None of that makes me a woman.

I am a woman because I am an adult human female.

I have birthed and breastfed 3 children.

I have endured many sexual assaults because of my biological sex.

But really, it's just the XX chromosomes that make me a woman. That's all.

Biology is not bigotry. We will not be silenced.

wiccamum · 04/02/2018 22:03

I am a woman.

And right now I feel fucking fantastic about it

Brazenhussy0 · 04/02/2018 22:34

I am a woman.

I don't wear heels or thongs.
I study science and I'm very good at maths.
I work as a prostitute.
I am a feminist.
I paint my nails and wear makeup every day.
I love the colour pink.
I play FPS console games for fun.
I enjoy horror novels.
I hate shopping.
I know a lot about cars and motorsport.

I nearly died 2 years ago when I had an ectopic pregnancy.

There's only one thing in that list that defines me as a woman - the realities of my female biology.
Not what I wear, how I 'feel', what colours I like or my hobbies.

I am a woman. And I am becoming very, very angry.

MissJaySays · 04/02/2018 22:34

I am a 21 year old woman and I am furious!

I get SORE breasts to the point that they hurt when I walk. I get debilitating period pains that I have to go to work with and try to ignore.

I look after other women's babies all day long while they go to work and fight to keep their shit together in a system that is so set against them. They then pay my boss the majority of their wage for the pleasure, while I get paid minimum wage for my efforts.

I constantly encourage myself and my colleagues to use correct terminology such as 'police officer' instead of 'police man', same with firefighter instead of fireman. I could list thousands more just like these, I must correct myself about 5 times a day.

I teach my 3 and 4 year old girls that they can do anything their male counterparts can, they can kick a ball just as far, they can build towers just as high and they can play with all the dinosaurs, trucks and trains they want.

In the next few years, if I am lucky enough, I will carry a baby in my womb, push it out of my vagina, and nourish it exclusively with milk my body produced all by itself.

I will continue to spread the word that a person with a penis does not belong in a women only space. That a trans woman isn't a women, they are a trans woman. Finally, I will not be silenced.

powershowerforanhour · 04/02/2018 22:44

MissJay, if the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world, I'm glad you're rocking it. Flowers

SmurfOrTerf · 04/02/2018 22:44

Yay MissJay people are trying to imply that Terfs are old women. Well I am old enough to be your granny, but because if I was your granny I want you to be able to use a changing room with no dicks in there, and more concerned for your little girls

LangCleg · 04/02/2018 22:52

I am a woman.

(No idea what I missed but I am definitely a woman.)

Terftastic · 04/02/2018 22:54

I'm fighting for my 10yr old DD to have privacy while getting changed, use the women's toilets, have a female doctor, or god forbid, use other women's only spaces like refuges.

This wasn't a fight when I was 10 - women's private spaces had been long fought for, and were respected. We must fight this.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 04/02/2018 22:57

I am still shocked MN removed that thread.

A decent explanation would be great.

I am a women, I am female.

SmurfOrTerf · 04/02/2018 23:04

Top they did say on another thread it was taken down because there were so many complaints - and they wanted to look at it.
I am a woman because I was born female

TopBitchoftheWitches · 04/02/2018 23:09

Complaints by who?
They don't normally do that.

Terftastic · 04/02/2018 23:14

Many would have reported the OP as a troll, here to be inflammatory. Which is against guidelines.

I don't agree with taking it down though.

Still a woman, btw. Adult human female, XX.

Teabagtits · 04/02/2018 23:19

I am a woman.

I am not feminine in the slightest. I wear Men’s clothes. I don’t ever wear make up or heels or skirts or dresses.I’ve never had my hair styled.

I’m menstruating and worrying that it’s causing my milk supply to dry up and that I won’t be able to breastfeed the baby I carried and birthed 6months ago.

Men will never experience that. They can never know the anxiety that comes with that.

schmagetti · 04/02/2018 23:24

I'm 29. I have XX chromosomes and a vagina. I am a woman. These boards have opened my eyes and I'm more grateful to posters than they'll ever know. Or perhaps ignorance is bliss. I find it tricky, I do not want to be silenced but am fearful for our futures and for my job on speaking out. I despair at the news and think gender identities are bollocks.

LaContessaDiPlump · 04/02/2018 23:26

LanaKanesTerfyVagina
If you have XY...you are a man.

Tbf, it is possible for a person with XY chromosomes to have various faults (chromosomally or with hormone sensivity) leading them to develop in a mostly female (or female-looking) fashion from infancy. But I accept and agree with your wider point!

I am a woman. I have breasts, and a vagina, and a vulva, and body issues because my mother taught me girls should always be worried about my appearance. I've incubated two babies and given birth to them; failed at breastfeeding, but still a woman. I've been treated as an inconvenient burden, with insincere flattery laid over controlling tones, since before I can remember, by men in general. My life and all my social experiences have been shaped by my genitals; even if I changed them, I couldn't change myself.

I am a woman. Hear me fucking roar.

LaContessaDiPlump · 04/02/2018 23:26

....girls should always be worried about THEIR appearance, dammit.

DancingLedge · 04/02/2018 23:30

I am a woman.

I don't choose to wear makeup.
I spend more time in builders merchants than hairdressers.
I can't remember the last time I wore a skirt or dress.
But I remember , clearly, period pains, miscarriage, birth -the joy and the pain, the tryanny of the cycle, the disregard of being lesser.

I totally accept others who choose not to conform to gender.
I totally reject any who seek to silence my lived experience, claiming it's exclusionary.

Natsku · 04/02/2018 23:36

I am a woman.

I never wear dresses or make-up. I was a tomboy through my childhood. I know I am a woman because of my biology not my feelings. I am on my way to the hospital right now to give birth, something that while not all women can do, ONLY a woman can do.

Definitelyrandom · 04/02/2018 23:38

I had short hair (still do) as a girl. Played football, with Action Man, train sets and cars as a girl. Didn’t think I was a boy.

I almost always wear trousers, haven’t worn make up for 30 odd years. I can read maps, put the bins out, do the decorating.

I have a DH, 2 DSs, whom I breastfed. I have had a hysterectomy.

I’m definitely a woman and am not remotely confused about that.

I peaktransed thanks to reading these threads. DH and DSs are on board. Utterly bemused by the vile invective spewed out by the TMAs and their followers.

That’s all.

StillTryingHard · 04/02/2018 23:40

I'm a woman because I don't have to justify or define what that means. Oh wait...

Wanderingwomb · 04/02/2018 23:41

I'm a woman. Anybody who thinks my biology is irrelevant is welcome to the last 48 hours of used tampons in the post.
