Here's my post replying to Moth
Thats an interesting article moth. Best not on the board or MRAs would be all over it!
I was wondering today, hopefully, if the news about darts getting rid of the girls means the overton window is shifting and maybe p0rn will become less acceptable?
If not all this hooha about F1 girls and the presidents club is just tinkering on the edges.

woman congratulations Wine

I looked like this Confused when I saw the Datun deletion.

I got to talk to an actual (lovely, feminist) person from here today & it was great Smile

FermatsTheorem · 26/04/2018 16:26

And I'm back... the poster formerly known as HairyB...T... (Took a while to dereg and re-reg due to various cock-ups on my part.

Anyway, mine's a swift half before doing the school run. Ah, it's good to be back in the surroundings of the pub, settling into an armchair by the fire. Love Datun's description of the pub.

QuentinSummers · 26/04/2018 16:45

Hi ball person! :)

I have started early on the wine, celebrating the planting of my new balcony garden. Yes, it is just a few pots, but its all mine. Strawberry plants. A lovely jasmine. Rosemary and lavender. Smell heaven.

Ereshkigal · 26/04/2018 17:28

Sounds lovely! Smile

Trousersdontmakemeaman · 26/04/2018 17:50

It is, apart from the sudden downpours of rain.

Datun · 26/04/2018 18:01

I love that.

AnitaLovesVictor · 26/04/2018 19:28

Ooh - I'm having a gin & tonic - having an on-going argument with DD about her attitude to homework (fgs! The argument that feminists have fought for her right to education doesn't seem to be working...) which is driving me to drink Grin

So this trans rights movement - it goes without saying that I think trans people have human rights - but this lady-penis, cotton ceiling, chest-feeding, masked men at women's meetings etc, calling Mumsnet nazis - I've peaked so many times in the past few months, I can't see the ground anymore.

It's affecting me emotionally at the moment - it's almost like the 7 stages of grief for me at moment. Shock, anger, depression etc etc (can't see me getting to 'acceptance"). When I lost my dad, I went through all the stages (sometimes going through them all in the space of an hour) - and I feel similar now - but politically. Like I'm losing women's rights - and I'm wondering about the affect on my daughter - on all of us.

0phelia · 26/04/2018 19:35

Anita good luck with your daughter I'm sure it will sink in!

The total celebration of violence against women by the TRA movement gets me every time, and how it's all supported by liberals.

(Currently trying to quit wine and step back from feminism and failing at both )

WomaninGreen · 27/04/2018 01:01

Trousers, that sounds lovely

Ophelia, mind if I ask why you're stepping back from feminism? Is it the red mist rage? I have a lot of that.

Anita, I've had drinks with a friend this evening, she was saying "I'm starting to wonder if women's rights are going backwards". I gently pointed out that there's no need to wonder!

Also, thanks to MN, I know the background of the Toronto van guy. Interestingly she hadn't picked up on that from TV news. I now wished I'd watched some to see how it was reported.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 27/04/2018 03:46

Popping in for a double to get me to sleep. I'm off to talk to my MSP about the Scottish Parliament's redefinition of woman Angry in the morning...

WomaninGreen · 27/04/2018 09:20

Waddle, hope it goes well.

QuentinSummers · 27/04/2018 09:39

Good luck waddle
0phelia don't step back from feminism, you are on fire at the moment. I love your posts.

I have my first therapy session this morning. Am feeling a bit weepy.

OP posts:
picklemepopcorn · 27/04/2018 11:44

Hope that goes well, Quentin!

I was halfway through a video, and now I can't find it. It was Oxford students protesting before the oxford meeting. Only short.

Does anyone know where I saw it?

picklemepopcorn · 27/04/2018 12:55

Stand down, I've found it!

0phelia · 27/04/2018 16:31

Ophelia, mind if I ask why you're stepping back from feminism

Sanity! I volunteer for a group reaching out to women in prostitution, can't help but think I could do something easier with my time and actually get paid.
I think I mean an emotional step back, and less on tinternet like twitter etc. Maybe work out how to be less emotionally attached.

When trying to quit drinking you need to find your calm lake spaces and feminism ain't one!

I can't actually stop caring though.

0phelia · 27/04/2018 16:33

Quentin
I had a year of CBT. What style of therapy?

I hope you connected with your therapist. How was it?

QuentinSummers · 27/04/2018 16:52

Some kind of exploratory CBT. I have had it before and now I recognise thought patterns but I don't seem to be able to change them. It went ok, she seems nice. I'm just exhausted though Sad

OP posts:
picklemepopcorn · 27/04/2018 18:40

It is exhausting.

FermatsTheorem · 27/04/2018 19:46

@QuentinSummers and @Ophelia

Look after yourselves - I find both your posts really helpful, and I'm sorry to hear life is tough at the moment.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 28/04/2018 00:26

Quentin please be gentle with yourself Flowers

MSP was interesting, his conclusion was that "self id could have unintended consequences" no shit sherlock Grin he has responsibilities around Justice so got the sex differences in crime, the lengths men go to get to women etc easily but said it wasnt on his radar at all.
Got to nag my MP again cheeky sod hasnt replied at all.

BetsyM00 · 28/04/2018 10:00

That sounds promising Waddle. There's a record being kept of all the MSPs responses - if you haven't already done it would you mind pm-ing either me or Badgerthebodger with your MSPs name?

I met one of my MSPs yesterday. She thinks transwomen are women and that humans can actually change sex. I keep going over the conversation wondering what I could have said differently to get through to her. I drank too much wine last night and I'm just scunnered with the whole mess, how can so many politicians be so blinkered?

Waddlelikeapenguin · 28/04/2018 10:51

On my to do list BetsyM00 Smile

That sounds like an utterly depressing conversation Flowers but it's brilliant that you had it. Water wears though stone given enough time Star

WomaninGreen · 28/04/2018 11:49

Ophelia, yes, I see what you mean.

Quentin, I hope it helps.

Waddle, I'm annoyed at how many MPs are saying "ugh, sorry, hadn't thought about it" and then Betsy, I read posts like yours and wonder what difference it makes if they do start "thinking".

BeUpStanding · 29/04/2018 09:01

@Waddlelikeapenguin How did your meeting go? I've been wondering when we're going to hear the outcome of the Scottish consultation.

When did the midnight misogynist thread get zapped? I reported but didn't get a deletion message. Christ he's tedious; I do like the random chat we have in response though.
