I found out late last night that one of my friends is very very ill. I cried so much my face still hurts. Of course this isn't about me and when I see her I will be completely "normal" or however she needs me to be.

but I wanted a self indulgent rant to say, wow, who knew you could hurt your face that much from crying....and how awful is it when someone you love gets a horrible illness and you can't do anything remotely helpful or stop their suffering.

It sucks so much.

now I must get my home, my face and general mental state in order for Mother's Day tomorrow i.e. must pull self together.

Ah you arent stupid. If you weren't upset you would be pretty heartless.
I know what you mean though, I'm trying to help a friend through an awful situation, I'm so angry she's in that situation but my anger doesn't change anything and doesn't help her. It's hard to know how to manage it.
