Here's my post replying to Moth
Thats an interesting article moth. Best not on the board or MRAs would be all over it!
I was wondering today, hopefully, if the news about darts getting rid of the girls means the overton window is shifting and maybe p0rn will become less acceptable?
If not all this hooha about F1 girls and the presidents club is just tinkering on the edges.

Quentin, no, I don't think you are being a dick at all

I do think you've almost apologised for being white a couple of times - and you really don't need to that, but maybe I misunderstood you!

I am still very appreciative that you posted that. I think a couple of posters are going a bit off piste which is a pity.

Riverside2 · 06/03/2018 21:04

btw I will have a final quick drink before doing like a 14 hour day or something tomorrow.....argh!!

QuentinSummers · 06/03/2018 21:05

Ha! Make sure you aren't hungover Wink
Thanks river Wine

But i got scared Grin

Wine

And for you river ? Wine

Riverside2 · 06/03/2018 21:29

Thanks Rufus
It is always hard to gauge tone online isn't it...

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 06/03/2018 21:31

God yes

Thats why i always use emojis on here

I was on a thread the other day when someone got angry with another poster for using the grin face instead of the smile one Shock

It might have been the other way round

QuentinSummers · 06/03/2018 21:58

It is hard to read tone. I trust river to answer me truthfully though. And any of the pub regulars actually.
I'm too soft for the internet I think.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 06/03/2018 22:03

I only do mumsnet

That's enough internet for me Grin

QuentinSummers · 06/03/2018 22:05

Me too. More truthfully, I only do FWR with very brief forays into westminstenders

Does anyone else here find all this battling just - takes it toll?

I have personal stresses going on - life, work, health issues etc, trying to engage with activism IRL - and online FWR/Twitter just feels stressful and a constant fight. Maybe I just need to take time out from online for my own mental health, probably, but it feels like abandoning the sisterhood to do so.

I don’t know if I’m asking for permission to disengage or just solidarity that this is all just fucking hard. It’s that old Greer quote of realising just how much women are hated. It’s difficult to deal with.

QuentinSummers · 07/03/2018 07:05

Yes it is exhausting. Take a break if you need one x

This is what mnhq have said about the Ulster thread
"Hi, QuentinSummers,

Following a number of reports about posts on the thread, we decided to err on the side of caution and take it down.

It's absolutely not because it's a thread about rape, to clarify - We Believe You very much still stands. We actually can't afford to have anything that could possibly prejudice a fair trial, or they'd have to abandon it and start over - which would be fairly catastrophic for those involved. There are no online news sites allowing comments about this trial.

We hope that clears things up a bit, but please do drop us a line at: [email protected] if you'd like to discuss anything further. flowers"

I flipping despair. Rape trials are so stacked against women. We can't even discuss the mechanics of the trial. Sad

I know what you mean Cwent. I am having a twitter break today.

Riverside2 · 08/03/2018 11:08

bit hungover this morning. Met a really nice lady at the evening thing, for once she's local.

normally in London you meet someone you'd have drink with and they live at precisely the further point of a London map (from me) that's geographically possible.

QuentinSummers · 09/03/2018 11:29

Are you feeling better river? Always nice to meet a kindred spirit at these things.
I met a lovely feminist at work yesterday. She lurks here but doesn't post. It made me think how many people we reach even though they say nothing...
