Gender ID bill - Gender Critical To Do List

BetsyM00 · 02/08/2017 16:48

There seems to be quite a few of us with concerns about the proposed bill and who want to take some steps to voice opposition to it. I've pulled together some pertinent info and compiled a To Do List from threads on here, and elsewhere.

Please join in with any other suggestions.

Would be good if people could read this document about NHS endorsed transgender advice for children....,

www.centralsexualhealth.org/media/8009/guidance-for-schools-trans-gender-variance.pdf

....and send complaints to the Scottish government (details below)

Bearing in mind that Scotland is paving the way to fundamental changes to the GRA which the rest of the UK will be likely to follow, it makes sense to apply pressure to the Scottish Government at the moment as we’ll as to Westminster.

There’s lots of very worrying stuff in it, mainly an awful lack of safeguarding over vulnerable young children and teenagers but also some really terrible recommendations for children with special needs. This was discussed on a previous thread

Another Gender Critical thing to do -

If you are a supporter of the Labour Party, add a comment to the thread below voicing your support for those questioning why a man can be allowed to be a women’s officer:

Gender Critical to do list: Write to the Girl Guides

Girl guides have said that they will allow children to self identify their gender and will allow them to share sleeping areas, showers and toilet facilities and will not alert parents when this is happening.

So the feelings of a boy who identifies as a girl trumps the rights to sex segregated spaces that a girl is due under the Equality act 2010.

There’s a thread on this linked below.
The address and email details of the Girl Guides are below for sending emails / letters to.

Gender Critical to do list: Write to the NHS about their official policy on transing children
(Thanks to BelaLugosisShed)

Link to NHS England Policy document:

www.england.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/gender-development-service-children-adolescents.pdf

BelaLugosisShed

“Still saying puberty blockers are safe and fully reversible, no mention of the fact that if cross sex hormones are started at age 15/16 right after the full halting of puberty , genitals will be pre pubescent and stat that way and the child will be permanently sterile- they only mention that effects of puberty blockers on brain development is unknown.
They also state that normal puberty resumes if no cross sex hormones are started, that may be the case for precosious puberty but how do they know for sure if kids hardly ever desist after fully blocking puberty?”

Gender Critical to do list: Write to the Scouts

As talked about on a previous thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3103529-What-happens-when-the-Scouts-outsources-its-policy-writing-to-Mermaids

The Scouts have outsourced their policies on accommodating non gender conforming children to Mermaids.

Their policy now endorses puberty blockers and breast binding as well as boys who identify as girls and vice versa being allowed to use the opposite sex facilities regardless of how the other team members feel (& the Equality Act 2010 is meant to uphold single sex facilities)

Link to their policy below:

Gender Critical to do list: Write to British Gymnastics

British Gymnastics have been lobbied successfully by a number of transgender pressure groups and have now made it mandatory to include information regarding your child’s “sex assigned at birth” among other trans ideology loaded questions.

They have also clarified that they have changed their policy on competition entry requirements so that people can compete as the gender they feel, not in their sex category. So a boy who feels like a girl and vice versa can compete against those who are in fact the opposite sex.

Previous thread here:

Thanks for the bump - lots of brilliant stuff here for a newbie like me who feels something HUGE has been happening while Ive been looking the other way.... getting up to speed FAST

elpth · 10/01/2018 21:59

Hello all and thank you for the wonderfully reasoned, evidenced, patient and informative work you do on these boards. I have lurked for a very long time but you have inspired me to write to my MP and MSPs for the first time ever. My responses have been mixed (and I may post some for help with replying to specific points) but I wanted to post the link to the Scottish Government consultation just in case anyone hadn't seen it.
consult.gov.scot/family-law/review-of-the-gender-recognition-act-2004/
Like many of you, I was broadly supportive of this legislation until I read more about it and now am completely against it.

This is useful: Research published in 2012 by the Equality and Human Rights Commission showed that 95% of women using women’s services preferred to receive them from a women only-organisation.

Crowd funding

James Caspian's proposal to research transgender detransitioners was turned down by Bath University because it was 'politically incorrect'.
See: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-41384473
His speech from the House of Commons meeting last October is here.
He is legally challenging this decision and has a funding page on CrowdJustice.

Jennifer James has stated a GoFundMe to Keep All-Women Shortlists Female in the Labour party. If you Google these terms you should be able to find it. Currently over £22,000.

Bump for people who want to take action

BetsyM00 · 07/02/2018 20:26

Topshop, Primark and Marks & Spencer have all adopted a policy of allowing men who self identify as women into women's changing rooms.

All threee orgs have an online form on their websites to contact them if you wish to register your objections.
Also on Twitter: @marksandspencer, @Topshop, @Primark
Discussed here and here.

Worth mentioning Equality Act which permits keeping changing rooms as women only.

And the results of the Target sex offence study which reports a 2.9 times increase in peeping tom incidents after they changed to a gender neutral policy.
