I've given up despairing at the future of feminism, somehow the basics seem to survive despite all the fads and fashions. It's an ever-changing field.

I'm not a cissexist but I do think that writer's writing style is particularly grating. I do not like being addressed as "honey" even in the context of being addressed as a generic reader, because it's a belittling term of pseudo-endearment aimed at infantilising women. Perhaps the author could use a class in old-fashioned sexism.

Also, why is everybody obsessed with transsexuals? This topic gets disproportionate coverage and rouses disproportionate rage.

The reason of the rage would be the fact that the transgender movement succeeded in having men put in women's prisons. Among other things.

The bizarre thing is that so much space on an allegedly feminist site is dedicated to ... men.

Everyday Feminism may as well change its name to Everyday Transactivism as that's all they care about. Trans women > biological women seems to be their unofficial motto.

It's not about being obsessive about transsexuals. It's about focussing on women and pushing back against attempts to erase women as a class which would render Feminism void as a means of analysis and therefore a tool to shine light on existing oppression and inequality. And therefore harm women in the process.

That there are barely any feminist spaces left (irl or online) that are not riven with transangst is a travesty and will (has) contribute(d) to a backsliding of thought, discussion and action that is harmful to women. Just wait until the right wingers turn their attention to reproductive rights in this country.

I couldn't get into the swing of that article at all. It was oddly lacking in content or explanation for an article aimed at educating people and really, really patronising all at once. Quite a feat to pull off in such a short article.

That article just makes no sense. Especially number 1. I really cannot get my head around the thinking behind it. So essentially that person thinks that sex and gender are basically the same thing, but then your biological sex doesn't constrain you in anyway as to what you do or like. But then that gender does define you in some way, and you can change gender and there are many genders. Im genuinely confused.

I am sick to the back teeth with this constant centering of men, and men's needs, and men's mental health masquerading as feminist thinking. It's not.

And someone needs to go and sit that writer down and explain that, while they might not like science, it's not going to change because they close their eyes and wish it the fuck away.

I have every sympathy and the greatest respect for men who have the truly debilitating MH problem of sex dysphoria and the awful dysmorphia that goes with it, but feminism is about women. Not men.

I can't take away the pain that some transwomen seem to feel as a result of -

being physically different to biological women
not menstruating
never giving birth
never experiencing childhood as a girl
having male bodies etc etc

None of that is my fault and wishing that I and other feminists pretend that these difference don't exist, isn't going to erase that pain. Maybe loving, cherishing and respecting them as transwomen would go someway towards helping with that pain. Maybe creating additional support and space for them in society in their own right as transwomen would help to ease that pain. Maybe focusing on the men who attack, ridicule and ignore them would help ease that pain.

Discriminating against transwomen is 'cissexist'. Simply believing that they are different but equal isn't.

And that's not such a bad thing, I don't know anyone that wishes harm or pain on Mtf trans* people, but I'm not 100% sure Top Shop and the like are going to fall into line the way women have been forced into doing, just because someone has a public tantrum on the internet.

Actually, since stores successfully resisted any pressure to sell clothes for short women, or fat women, or women with big breasts, etc., I don't think they will change just because of this article.
