The departure of dittany

I only know that she has left, and in her post she didn't say much as to why, though some people can speculate and imagine why.

Quite a few days ago (last weekend I think) there were threads that pinpointed the lack of consideration that MNHQ has toward the sort of trolls that infest the FS section from time to time - different in nature and purpose to your average troll that infects MN from time to time.

It may well be that d. is in contact with regular posters whom she trusts. I don't know.

What I do know is that d. was a fabulous source of invigoration and illumination to a lot of posters, myself included, though we didn't always agree with her.

I would like a review from MNHQ of their current "talk guidlines" policy, in order that the FS is provided with a consideration that recognises the particular vulnerability that it experiences.

D. left for her own reasons - but this presents itself as a sort of 'test case' for MN to respond sensitively.

Would anyone agree and post here in support of this?

Why do people insist on making out that we are asking for a 'hardcore' (WTF that is) feminist space. We aren't. I already post on a heavily moderated blog - I am not expecting or wanting MN to be that AT ALL.

I just would like it if the gobshitey behaviour, as outlined by smallwhitecat, could be considered not quite cricket.

Seems like a small ask to me. I don't understand why people are so intent on misrepresenting it nor why they are so irked by it.

AliceWyrld · 21/09/2011 22:08

CoteDAzur - we are talking about people who post asking women what it is like to be raped and joking that they can rape them and get away with it. If that appeals when talking about women's rights, then you will indeed like it here at the moment.

scottishmummy · 21/09/2011 22:09

Exactly BC. I have a very wide tolerance of feminist views. And of people who are just starting to find out about feminism. I just don't see the point of the views that are trying to derail its very very basic premises being seen as important here.

ThereBeBolloX · 21/09/2011 22:11

So are you interested in addressing that behaviour SM?

I'm assuming you're not, but of course I don't want to be presumptious...

Beachcomber · 21/09/2011 22:12

Cote quite a few of said posts have been deleted because I have gone to the bother of reporting them - not because I'm a sissy who cries evey time someone says 'yah boo sucks ur a loon who has been treated like shite by the men in your life so that's why u is a feminist' to me. But because I think it is the only way to communicate to MN the sort of thing that goes on in this section and that it is unacceptable.

I'm sick of rude fuckers making out that my dad and my DH are cunts just because they don't get my point of view.

ThereBeBolloX · 21/09/2011 22:12

Is it because of the CiF meeting?

Have they decided tht they want more misogynists round here? That that was what this space was lacking?

frumpyq · 21/09/2011 22:13

Don't you see "Gobshite" behaviour from some of the regulars here beachcomber?

Oh i forgot myself.

The regulars can and will be afforded that right.

This whole thread shows a sense of entitlement that is stunning.

ThereBeBolloX · 21/09/2011 22:15

I would think it would only be deleted if it were a personal insult SM.

Are you interested in addressing the behaviour to which I and others have referred?

ThereBeBolloX · 21/09/2011 22:15

So are you interested in discussing the thing I said you weren't interested in discussing and you told me not to speak for you about SM?

CoteDAzur · 21/09/2011 22:16

Therebebollox - I don't really understand why you are so upset about people going on a section with a view opposing the majority. I have often told people in Sleep threads that there is nothing wrong with letting your baby cry a bit, and have seen religious MNers told off about their "imaginary friend", to name a few examples.

And when someone on Fem said "All porn actors are rapists" (because, clearly, no woman could possibly consent to being a porn actress Hmm, I have said that she sounds unhinged and should seek professional help.

Because if someone truly cannot imagine that there are some women out there who choose to do porn films and is convinced that they are all being raped, then there is sadly something wrong with the way she looks at the world.

Now, would you say that I am a troll? Or a misogynist?

scottishmummy · 21/09/2011 22:17

oh i see its an appraisal rather than bellyaching
and no i dont need to demonstrably chaneg my posts because someone on mn called me toolsih

i quite liked it,deliciously obnoxious

Are you angry herebebollox?

I'm reading you that way.

Beachcomber · 21/09/2011 22:18

Yeah I have got one huge fucking sense of entitlement wanting not to be called insane, antisex, a liar, damaged goods, emotionally unstable, a man hater, an extremist, etc just because I have the temerity to discuss feminist analysis and perspective on a 'board about feminism'.

Is it really so very hard to understand?

scottishmummy · 21/09/2011 22:19

keep up lenin,do read correctly t'was toolish
has nice ring to it

If someone said that all male porn actors are rapists i'd go out on a limb and call them nutty myself.
