Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

A solidarity thread

Diplomacy is not my thing, but I try.

After this weeks events I thought I would start a thread with the express aim of expressing solidarity with the world wide web's feminists and the MN ones in particular.

Also because I came upon these:

www.facebook DOT com/ pages/Mumsnet-Sucks /120667294688534

anti-mumsnet DOT blogspot DOT com/20110301_archive. html

Sorry but I am not putting them in as links on purpose, because I don't want them to link back here (and if you cut and paste them into your browser and put in the dots you will see why.) Both are anti-MN sites, both of whose number one enemy appears to be the feminist/women's right section.

Let's not pander to them, I say. They are the only ones who want to shut this board down and shut us up.

Feminists of MN! I will support you always.

That Mumsnet sucks person has a scary obsession with Dittany. It's really wierd Confused .

Yes, 'mumsnet sucks' people, you are right in that radfem clearly divides Mumsnet. But wierdo's like you do a fab job of pulling everyone back together.

I have clashed big time with Dittany, but even I'll say out loud she must be doing something right if you are dedicating pretty much a whole facebook page to her you looser

The overt obsession with Dittany was one of the things that struck me too Toddlerwrangler. I think we ought to be aware of this and aware that their campaign also appears to includes disrupting Mumsnet discussions. That is why despite our differences and whatever personal animosity there might be between individual posters, we need to stick together. The only people I don't want posting here are these unpleasant people.

That is seriously fucked-up, that someone would drag their hatred of an individual onto other websites

And worrying

Thank goodness D is very prudent about what personal information she gives out (ie. none)

A lesson for all of us, I think

Wow. Just wow.

I don't have Facebook, but I looked at the blog, I couldn't help myself. Now I wish I hadn't.

I haven't been posting long, but having read some of the hate on the blog, I'm just stunned.

joins in singing

SaF: The flag thing is a product of my time in Mexico. They are very into flags and "patriotic symbols" here. You even have to salute the flag in a funny -too much like a fascist salute of my liking- way. I used to have your reaction, now I'm immune to it all.

But these flags are handwoven with extra lentils. I don't think they would cut the mustard with any dictatorship really.

They are so full of hate aren't they PurpleStrawberry? And that's why they come over here to try and disrupt and disband, because they're afraid to see themselves mirrored - they assume that we feel the level of hate for them that they feel for women. They see women wanting to be treated as full human beings, as manhaters, because our place in their minds is so obviously underneath their feet, that any assertion that that isn't our natural place, must in of itself be an act of hate. They are projecting.
