Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

A solidarity thread

Diplomacy is not my thing, but I try.

After this weeks events I thought I would start a thread with the express aim of expressing solidarity with the world wide web's feminists and the MN ones in particular.

Also because I came upon these:

www.facebook DOT com/ pages/Mumsnet-Sucks /120667294688534

anti-mumsnet DOT blogspot DOT com/20110301_archive. html

Sorry but I am not putting them in as links on purpose, because I don't want them to link back here (and if you cut and paste them into your browser and put in the dots you will see why.) Both are anti-MN sites, both of whose number one enemy appears to be the feminist/women's right section.

Let's not pander to them, I say. They are the only ones who want to shut this board down and shut us up.

Feminists of MN! I will support you always.

y Sprogger that's why they're so keen on the idea that feminism on Mumsnet is a takeover by childless invaders, rather than the majority being actual genuine feminist mums.

the facebook one must be 10 sad baastards from some kind of motoring forum, that's my guess.

the blog has links to threads started by the blogger to cause friction. What's the point of that then? Stirrng up mumsnet so you can hate it more. Oddness.

The irony of them accusing us of hatred as they spit their bile-filled invective is lost on them I guess isn't it?

Too true.

I read one comment on the AM site, where this guy was saying, "they accuse us of hate, but there's no hate on here, they're the ones who spout hatred."

Erm, hello, your whole site is about HATE, the hatred of women.

Thanks AF, that's very nice of you to say :) I haven't been around much anyway and every time I popped my head in, there was a massive barney going on. I have too much shit going on in my own life at the moment to be dealing with a bunch of sad lonely men and their pathetic femi-baiting.

I am going to do my letter next week Sybil. Promise!

Scary level of hatred

Sorry not been on here much of late - I really can't take the vitriol sometimes. The irony of them accusing us of hatred as they spit their bile-filled invective is lost on them I guess isn't it?

I like Annie Lennox too. But I can't sing her songs :o

I did note that it's been going for over a year and has only 10 'likes'.

Says it all really.

No need to get too upset.

I never knew the mumsnetsucks site existed...

How bizzare and sad that anyone would get so wound up about mumsnet.

that's true; they might also want to get rid of quilting groups once they realise women talk to each other at them.

Report
Catitainahatita · 07/07/2011 21:58

Probably UMS; you see now the government has outlawed cold weather, quilts are just smothering people and preventing them from getting a good nights sleep.

they really do need to take up patchwork quilting. It would give them a worthwhile focus in life and calm them down.

Many years ago in South Africa, I asked why the govt just about tolerated anti-apartheid white student organisations, but banned equivalent black student organisations.

"They don't like it when black people get organised," a veteran explained.

It's stuck with me.

If I'd have known Mumsnet had this board, I'd have joined ages ago.

I used to post on another parenting website, but when I saw a post on there from a woman saying feminism is one of the worst things to ever happen (?!), and that it was better when women and men knew their place, AND for some others to agree with her, I threw my hands up in disgust.

I've shut the AM --shite== site down now, because my blood is boiling.

I know I've only been posting here a short time, but I lurked for a while before posting, and have learnt a lot from the long-standing posters. I'm really angry to see what they're saying about some of the individuals on this board.

What sad lives these people leave.

Worse still, some of them are other women.

PurpleStrawberryGuava · 07/07/2011 18:53

I just found the Anti Misandry site and I can see this board is a regular source of 'entertainment' on their forum.

One guy called James said he was here yesterday causing trouble, and will give it a week or so, and he'll come back to cause more trouble.

His life is clearly lacking meaning.

AnyFucker · 07/07/2011 18:45

I hadn't actually looked at Mumsnetsucks FB page before

Gosh, the poor thing. Something really terrible must have happened in his life. Sad

I've just realised I can view the Facebook page despite not being a member of FB.

I'm disgusted and appalled.

PSG, thank you.

AF, I have no idea. There are some sad, ignorant individuals around, and they've taken to stalking someone so they can abuse her?

To MumsnetSucks. You're probably watching this. There's words for people like you. Vile, bulllying pigs. Yet that doesn't sum up the disdain I feel for you...
