See Suit Supply - these images are displayed as posters in Suit Supply stores in the UK (including Westfield and Regent Street).

For more info and to object, visit this site.

And complain to the Advertising Standards Authority here.

Blimey. those posters seem a bit extreme, are they really on display in high street shops?

franch · 17/11/2010 10:00

Address to complain to Westfield: [email protected]

Very good article about it here

Shock my god I am actually really shocked by that! where are these images displayed?

franch · 17/11/2010 10:03

Yes, lemon - in Westfield! And in the windows as well as inside the shops.

I've emailed the company, submitted an ASA form and I'm complaining to Westfield now.

No- Ann summers has underwear on display and slogans that are double entendres. This is just explicit.

Curiousmama · 17/11/2010 10:28

I've seen it all now. We're not any further forward are we? Fucking disgrace! Angry

chibi · 17/11/2010 10:29

Hmm

There is an Ann summers in my local shopping centre

There are lingerie wearing mannequins in the window

They are not simulating sex acts

These ads are a bit different I think

Comparing this to Ann summers is ridiculous.

Anyway, it's nice to see even men are posting their disgust on that article franch linked.

Curiousmama · 17/11/2010 10:32

RealityBomb are you really happy for your dcs to think this is the norm? Hmm

it's not either/or - you can object to this and page 3.

the alternative to supposedly 'playing into the advertisers' hands' by objecting to this is pretending it doesn't happen and allowing it to continue unchecked. Personally I think that would be playing into the advertisers' hands far more effectively - it won't go away if we ignore it, there will just be more and more of the same as other companies copy and it becomes established as a normal thing to do.

sethstarkaddersmum · 17/11/2010 10:48

did you see the comment on the site in Franch's second link that the ASA won't get involved because they don't cover Point of Sale and shop material?

Christ.

I don't believe complaining to the company would achieve anything - they would share RealityBomb's pov and be rubbing their hands at the publicity achieved.

Complaining to the shopping centre makes sense - will do.

But really, this kind of thing is going to need either some kind of direct action, or some kind of suing for damages

Curiousmama · 17/11/2010 10:53

yes agree no point at all complaining to company.

franch · 17/11/2010 10:58

Hadn't seen that, seth. I would have thought that if you make the point to the ASA that the posters are public - ie displayed in shop windows facing out into the street/shopping centre - they may accept it. They accept complaints about internet material too.

I take your point about complaining to the company itself.

One of those is a rape like image. Horribly triggering. Bastards.

sethstarkaddersmum · 17/11/2010 11:14

Earwicga that's exactly what I was thinking - how awful for a woman who had experienced rape to see that.

Franch - apologies, I've just realised how negative my post sounded. You may well be right, I read the comment in a rush and may have missed details about that.

btw thanks so much for starting this thread. Actually I'm thinking I might compose an email to the company just to get it out of my system....
