Strange breast mass/lump

Just looking for a hand hold really until I can get to the doctors. Four years ago I was diagnosed with a fibroadenoma underneath the nipple. Two years ago I went to get it checked out again as I thought it had grown. They did an ultra sound and it was fine. I have been rather obsessively checking my breasts for the last month... prodding and poking and now it feels there is a harder mass just below my fibroadenoma . I wouldn't call it a hard lump and it feels really ropey. It does feel harder on this side than my right breast but when I push down I can feel the same ropey texture on both breasts. It just seems the side where I have the fibroadenoma is the tissue below it feels harder. But I'm not sure if this is because my obsessive prodding and Poking over the past month. I'm booking an appointment tomorrow but just hate that it is so hard to check your boobs, as you always come across rouge lumpiness and bumps and it's hard not to panic. To whoever has read this, thank you. I just needed a space to get my anxiety out xxx

Hi all. I got the all clear too 😁 the poppy seed lump I can feel is a duct and the other lump is just nodular tissue. I was in for under an hour all in all.

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting for their appointments or results.

Ah you must feel so much better! I hope you are also doing nice things this evening!

Grapefruittea · 22/05/2023 18:29

Thanks @Crumpleton have you got a specific date for your appointment yet ? Xxx

Yes, June 1st, not to worried about things just yet but as it draws closer to the time it'll be loitering in the back of my mind.

Had to have a hysterectomy at the beginning of the year due to post meno bleeding and thickening of the womb lining which the consultants were a bit concerned about but fortunately the histology report came back as showing something called adenomyosis.
That was a long wait for results...or felt like it.

Grapefruittea · 22/05/2023 22:27

Ahhh @overthinkersanonnymus you must be very relieved. So glad to hear it was all OK!

That's great news. No biopsy so no waiting?
Mines tomorrow, I posted earlier about the context.

How are things @OneFrenchEgg ?

OneFrenchEgg · 23/05/2023 15:43

Thanks @VerityUnreasonble - sore!
It was a very easy and cheery service, like a one stop shop. The only weird bit was me asking why I would have got an infection and them saying there was no sign and maybe it was hormonal and a coincidence the antibiotics fixed it. And that if there was an infection, why?
So, one cyst aspirated and three biopsies on one side - they will call within two weeks. Ultrasound, mammogram, consultant and everyone really nice and friendly.

VerityUnreasonble · 23/05/2023 15:46

Ah really glad they were kind and got everything done. I will keep fingers crossed results are back soon for you!

OneFrenchEgg · 23/05/2023 16:05

Thank you! I'll try to update, apparently there are loads of clustered cysts causing a big hard mass so they stuck another marker in.

VerityUnreasonble · 24/05/2023 10:30

Appointment this morning was very positive. They are happy that it is just an abscess and antibiotics ×2 seem to be working.

No further appointment but they have said if there is still any lump or tenderness in about 10 days or so I am welcome to go back to have it double checked.

A difficult 2.5 weeks but I do have to say it's been a really good service.

Lots of positive thoughts for those with appointments coming up.

OneFrenchEgg · 24/05/2023 11:40

Oh that's brilliant news. Taking a long time for you though x

Grapefruittea · 25/05/2023 13:23

Sorry for the delay in replying. @VerityUnreasonble that sounds great. I bet you're feeling so much better and I agree such an amazing service

@OneFrenchEgg this sounds really positive. Please update us on your next appointment xxxx

Hi so I have bruising still, and although they aspirated cysts there is still a big mass left, I am going to ask them if they can remove them all when I have the follow up for the results. Also, my skin on my breast has been really itchy before and still, with back ache (shoulder blade) - I'm assuming a mammogram would pick up anything dodgy, aside from the three they biopsied.

EightToSixer · 30/05/2023 20:04

@OneFrenchEgg i hope you get a chance to ask them all the questions soon. Is it another week before you hear back?

OneFrenchEgg · 30/05/2023 20:11

They've sent a phone appointment for the end of next week, I think this is standard and they ring earlier if need be maybe?

Crumpleton · 30/05/2023 21:07

@ OneFrenchEgg

I'd very much imagine the mammogram would show anything untoward.

When I was recalled due to the mammogram showing something I had a scan which was more in depth, had the lumps removed by suction there and then and a marker put in then straight to another room for another mammogram to check marker position and to see if the lump had been removed.
All sent of for a biopsy.

Second appointment was a bit longer, same procedure just to check and remove a few more lumps. Turned out that all little lumps had been removed with enough of a margin the first time round so just had a new marker inserted.

My hospital don't do phone calls for the results you have to go back for them.

OneFrenchEgg · 30/05/2023 22:08

Thank you @Crumpleton it's just a bit stressful, I'm sure you are right. I would like them to remove the cysts if they can otherwise I won't know if they are new or not. Plus I'm confused about the infection which responded to antibiotics but now the hospital say may have been hormones and a coincidence. Plus I have throbbing in my boob - maybe the biopsies healing?

Arrrrgh too many questions!

Sorry, thank you for explaining in detail, I'm hoping this is a place mark appointment and they would call me in if necessary in the interim.

I'm sure they would contact you sooner if there was anything dodgy looking. The wait is horrible though x

Oh @dancingdaisies it's so easy to mess up with dates when you are nervous. If it helps I've had cysts at all stages over the last five years, sometimes they get bigger/smaller.

Yes, could sort of push them, and they showed up on ultrasound quite clearly. They could tell I think if they were suspicious from the ultrasound (it might depend who does it?)

If it's disappeared that's great, apparently they can change size etc - if not, at least you will have a really good idea /an answer this time tomorrow. Do update, if you want to, it's really scary but also quite cheery to read back how often these lumps and bumps have been nothing to worry about.

teanntoastinbed · 02/06/2023 07:26

@dancingdaisies I had a moveable lump a few years back. I had ultrasound and mammogram and it was a fibrodenoma. I also had a biopsy to confirm this. I know it is really hard not to worry but try and think positive.

I hope everyone else who was yet to get appointments or results has had positive news. Sending hugs to everyone

Wishing you all the best @teteanntoastinbed. I think the wait to find out is such an awful time but hopefully your appointment will go well
