I have had PERSISTENT thrush since January of this year, it goes for a few days and always ALWAYS comes back. I started anti fungal treatment recently which did get rid of it but almost two weeks within taking it I had to stop, I was getting side effects from the medication like palpitations and stomach pain, I told doctor I wanted to stop the medication and they were convinced it wasn't the medication however I have stopped it look what has happened, symptoms have gone. It was the medication, however now my thrush is back :( I really don't know what to do I am at a loss, I've been tested for diabetes and that's fine I don't have it, so why won't it go! :( it's honestly upsetting me so much it's so so sore and nothing helps and if it does it only goes for a few days and it's back again. I've ordered some vita flora pro biotics but from reading the reviews the initial infection needs to be treated first, thing is nothing treats mine! 🤣😒 so I'm not sure how this will work but I am so hoping it does! Has anyone gone through this? Any advice/tips please?

Are you using scented sanitary pads? I had the worst persistent thrush of my life about 5 years ago, moving to unscented pads totally sorted it for me.

Nope! I only use fragrance free/organic.

Cutting out sugar, especially wine helped me.

Thank you for all the advice! So I went to drop of my swab but because of bank holiday I won't get my results until probably Wednesday next week so I won't wait until then, popped to pharmacy and explained, they recommended multi gyn flora, it says it contains probiotics and aims to treat and prevent thrush with natural ingredients. I'm hoping it works I'm at my wits end with this now

Try the yogurt on your bits, sit on that old towel and you will feel better after thirty mins like that and a shower

emilyyyyloox · 07/04/2023 09:25

So the multigyn flora has not worked, I feel like it has made it worse actually it's uncontrollable at this point🤦🏻‍♀️ gonna try the yoghurt later

Double up with the garlic clove overnight

You may need to repeat every day for a few days, but the yogurt really does work. It is worth the indignity and the mess !

Try bicarb in hot water to soak in or dab on with a flannel. It's not really a question of one treatment or another. Everyone is different and so are effective treatments. I get instant relief from sitting in water that is alkaline. What have you got to lose?

emilyyyyloox · 13/04/2023 18:07

Just to update everyone, did a swab which as expected still have thrush so I'm starting a 6 month course of pessaries hopefully side effects won't be as bad

So I know it's been a while, I still have thrush. It's so upsetting, the pessaries did not work and I had thrush the whole time taking them, doctors have no given up and said review at sexual health clinic... what can they do? It's not an std. this is ridiculous. :(

They were really helpful for me and said they can analyse for the different types of thrush (or something)
Basically they see vaginas all day so I have always gone to them over the GP even for not STI related issues
And it's quicker to be seen

@emilyyyyloox This sounds suspiciously like my story. I had these symptoms for years and tried all sorts. It contributed to my title on here. I tried STD clinic and they did swabs, to no avail. Years went by with various degrees of discomfort until a chance remark by my GP made me do some research into Lichen Sclerosis. Scales fell from my eyes. I was referred to a dermatologist and a biopsy done. Check this on line and compare your symptoms. Insist on a referral. In the meantime, dissolve some bicarb in hot water and sit in it to cover your bits. Sit as long as possible, then use a cream with lidocaine rub in well (Piles cream). It will help with the itching. Go on 'Stuff that works' website

What about trying a different anti fungal such as itraconazole.

Fertica · 29/02/2024 12:41

So how are you feeling now?

magicscares · 29/02/2024 12:56

Taking daily probiotics & eating fermented foods such as kimchi & sawerkraut (sp?).

I totally understand how frustrating and upsetting that can be, I’ve struggled with thrush on and off myself. What really helped me was using Diflucan (Fluconazole). It’s an oral antifungal that works by stopping the growth of the yeast that causes the infection, and unlike many creams, it tackles it from the inside. I chose it because it’s simple to take (just one capsule usually does the job, though sometimes I need to repeat after a few days if it’s stubborn), and for me the relief usually starts within 24–48 hours.

I think it’s really important to use only quality Diflucan, because I’ve noticed a huge difference between reliable sources and cheaper generics that didn’t work as well. Personally, I always order mine from this pharmacy 👉healway.co.uk/diflucan-fluconazole. Their delivery is super quick, and the results are consistently great.

If your thrush is this persistent, definitely still keep your doctor in the loop, but Diflucan has been the one thing that actually keeps it under control for me. You’re not alone in this, and with the right treatment it really can clear up properly. 💜
