Nipple photo attached - am I worrying for nothing?

I've noticed over the past couple of months that my nipple is being pulled inwards - it's hard to explain but there seems to be what looks and feels like skin attached to the middle of nipple to the edge of the areloa. I've attached a photo - hopefully you'll see what I mean!

It doesn't hurt, no kids so not breastfeeding etc. History of breast cancer in my family so a little concerned, but just more confused really! Any ideas? Google is giving me nothing to work with.

Any breast changes need to be reported to your gp for referral.

MiniTheMinx · 04/04/2023 10:32

It's probably worth seeing your GP.

MoongazyHare · 04/04/2023 10:32

The NHS website lists changes to the nipple as a reason to see your GP. The chances are it’s nothing, but it does need checking.

You need to see your GP, most breast changes turn out to be benign, but changes on yor nipples are one of things to look out for when doing self examination.

Notastic · 04/04/2023 10:55

I'll definitely be contacting my GP. I'm pretty sure it's just my body being weird but better to be on the safe side!

Yes not to scare you but this needs seen quite urgently it’s on the list for urgent reasons to see your gp as it’s a sign of breast cancer

Thankyou everyone. Have an appointment to see my GP next Tuesday. Fingers crossed all is well 🤞

Keep us updated OP, its best getting it checked out.

Notastic · 04/04/2023 13:33

@userxx I'll definitely be back with an update. Thankyou :)
As I said I'm not too concerned but given there's been a few cases of breast cancer in the family it probably is best to get it looked at. I'm sure it will turn out be nothing though 😊

You should get an urgent gp appt same day, not next Tuesday. As said previously it's likely benign but warrants a two week wait referral. That 2 week wait starts from when your gp sees you. Make that from tomorrow. Be insistent with the receptionist, say you have found a breast abnormality and you're concerned it's cancer. Good luck.

Warmcandle · 04/04/2023 21:58

Agree with everyone, I had something suspicious and went to the doctor the next day, immediately referred to hospital and it was BC, glad I started the ball rolling as quickly as I could. Good luck, I know how stressful this is xxx

Landlubber2019 · 04/04/2023 22:03

Good luck with appt, hopefully it will be nothing x

Tilllly · 04/04/2023 22:09

Please ring doctor tomorrow and ask to be seen or referred to breast clinic
If thats malignant, you don't want to wait a week

Notastic · 05/04/2023 05:57

I'll try again today with my GP. They're pretty bad tbh - same day or even same week appointments are impossible to get, and they like to make you feel neurotic for being the slightest bit not concerned about anything. But will try!

Thankyou for all the support too x

Good luck.
I have just been referred to Breast Clinic due to breast lump.
Waiting is stressful. My appointment in a weeks time.

Notastic · 05/04/2023 11:21

@DinkyDaisy I hope all turns out ok for you. Please let us know x

OP posts:
DinkyDaisy · 05/04/2023 11:27

Will do. I am so stressed and imagining worst. I know most lumps benign but jumping ahead. Wait for appointment, maybe biopsy, wait for results. Implode!

Notastic · 05/04/2023 11:52

@DinkyDaisy It's hard not to think of the worst case scenario. I hope the time passes quickly for you.
My main worry is telling my parents and sister if it is cancer. I've not mentioned it to them or anyone else irl yet, apart from one close friend. No point in worrying people just yet, and hopefully there's nothing to tell anyway. Fingers for us both 🤞x
