Pain in right side

Retta1809 · 20/11/2022 21:20

Hi I've had a pain in my lower right side since last December. I've been back & forth to the doctors, had blood tests, stool sample checked and also an ultrasound. They can't find anything. They have now sent me to physio.
The pain is dull and annoying, it often feels like there's something in there, it's from beside my hip bone and often feel it further down and round into my back.
Anyone have any idea what this is?
I don't know if the docs are missing anything.
The pain doesn't stop me bending, stretching, lifting etc.

I had the exact same journey last year! Unbelievable amount of doctors appointments, scans, samples, ultrasounds, trips to A&E , mri etc and even talk of a Laparoscopy. I was passed from pillar to post and it was awful. Until I had an internal ultrasound and they said I had more than average amount of ovarian cysts and they could be causing pressure / referred pain and also rupturing etc. it doesn’t seem to bother me anymore.. but just to tick a box it may be worth asking for a Gynae referral to skip the messing about (it took me almost a year to get referred ) X

@NotSoSlimShady8 what did your pain feel like, did it come and go or there all the time?
I just want to make sure it's nothing sinister.
I feel mine more when sitting down, not sure if it's just because I'm not busy so notice it more or if it is worse then. X

Yes I have the same pain you’re describing. It’s always there but varies in intensity. I feel “heavier” on that side. Mine started after giving birth so i assumed and been told by doctor it’s from my pelvis and I should do physio. Had kidneys checked and nothing found

Retta1809 · 21/11/2022 06:44

@Wonderspell I do feel heavier on that side.
My pain started a few days after my covid booster and at first assumed it was that but its never gone away.
Has your pain eased with physio?x

I have right sided pain. It's sort of next to my belly button under my ribs sometimes going into my back. I've had it on and off for years. I was told it was endometriosis because it did come and go with my period. But now I'm menopausal and it seems to be here a the time. Sometimes it feels like pressure and other times just pain. It's not bad enough for pain killers just annoying and worrying.

Retta1809 · 21/11/2022 10:41

@Joshanddonna I don't take pain relief for my pain, it's just really annoying. It does feel like there's something pushing inside me. If I hold my side I do get a bit of relief.

It's so irritating. Does it ever just go?

Retta1809 · 21/11/2022 15:52

@Joshanddonna sometimes I don't feel it as much but it never goes, hasn't got any worse either, it's just there.

@Retta1809 it was like a full heavy ache as a rule but now and again did get quite sharp on the hip bone (or so it felt like, I was told this could be referred pain) it did tend to flare up when I sat down too… I mostly noticed when walking , each time I stepped with my right leg it would emphasise the heavy dull feeling. It didn’t seem to change with my cycle either. Hope this helps x

Alainlechat · 21/11/2022 17:11

I have similar on my left side, sometimes it seems worse than others. Blood test and a hip X-ray found nothing, I'm due an ultrasound this week to follow up further.

It's like a dull annoying ache, I'm convinced one side of my stomach is more bloated than the other but might be a result of middle age spread!

Retta1809 · 21/11/2022 22:02

Thanks @NotSoSlimShady8, think I'll push at the docs for further investigation.

This is so weird, I also have this. Same re the unbelievable amount of Dr appointments and tests but they’ve not found anything yet. It’s such a worry. I can’t see how they can’t find a reason for this sort of pain, it must be coming from something. I’ve had it about a year and a half now.

Haven’t actually done any physio yet but did see chiropractor which helped but they pain didn’t go away fully

Retta1809 · 22/11/2022 16:08

Got a phone call appointment with the doc on Thursday to see what's next.

@Pearmain that's what I keep thinking, must be something causing the pain and just want to know its nothing sinister. I feel like they put me to physio as a last resort!

Coolyule · 22/11/2022 17:18

I have the same. Sometimes sharp sometimes a dragging ache. It’s usually above, or around hip bone but it isn’t the bone, it’s inside. I’m convinced it’s linked to my ovary but no idea what it could be. It’s never severe enough to need painkillers though and the occasional shooting pains take my breath away but are then gone as soon as they’ve come

Titsywoo · 30/12/2022 21:26

Did anyone get any further with this? I have the same I think (dull achey pain in hip/waist on my right side - worse when sitting down). Saw GP today and she thought muscular. It comes and goes and is never massively painful just annoying and makes my anxiety much worse.

Retta1809 · 21/01/2023 04:52

@Titsywoo my pain kind of went away in December, I had the physio who has now discharged me and just last weekend the pain came back and it's still there and quite sore, more of an annoying sore. I don't know if it's coming from my hip or side & groin area. I'm a worrier so this makes me worse!!
When I spoke to the doc at the end of November she said there was no red flags and gynae wouldn't accept a referral as I don't have any of the symptoms that would require a referral.

@Alainlechat did you get your ultrasound?

ChocolateRaisin09 · 13/02/2023 16:58

I agree it's better to know so it doesn't play on your mind, once I knew what was wrong with me I could stop panicking that it was something terrible. I have a lot of one sided pain where you do, but other pain too. I have endometriosis on my ovaries and my bowel so I think it's something to do with that. I also get rubbish ovulation pain so might be worth keeping a diary of symptoms?
I hope you get sorted!

Alainlechat · 13/02/2023 22:06

I did have my ultrasound to check my ovaries and it was all clear. I still have the pain though ☹️

ChocolateRaisin09 · 14/02/2023 08:02

Unfortunately endometriosis doesn't show up on scans xx

Coolyule · 30/08/2023 17:39

Retta1809 · 31/01/2023 17:11

@Coolyule have you been for any tests?

i had a scan to check my ovaries and it was clear. The pain is still there though. It’s along my right flank above and around the hip. It hurts to walk on my right foot - it gives a little sharp burst of pain each time. I haven’t been back to gp - i don’t know what mor they could do

Retta1809 · 05/01/2024 02:44

I have a ct scan next week as still have right sided pain and pain across my pelvic area. So worried as it's gone on so long now. 😪
