Tampon lost....

So embarrassing, I put a medium flow tampax compact pearl tampon in earlier today and the string was out nicely.
I've got to remove it now and I can't feel anything no string hanging out, and I've had a little feel just inside and I can't feel anything either.
Is it possible the tampon dropped out when going to the toilet today without me noticing? It had happened a few times before but I've felt it coming out.
I'm so worried I don't know if it's possible it's just disappeared up inside or something?! I haven't put any more tampons in it had sex so is it highly unlikely a tampon would just go up inside on its own?

was wondering about eye nurse; didn't think it could travel that far.

and just a remeinder to others, never flush anything in toilet except human waste and a moderate amout of toilet paper.
if more paper is needed, flush again.
2-ply non quilted paper is recommended by sewerage technos. basic andrex is ok.
blocked drains are a real problem and health hazard.

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 12/04/2022 17:54

Mine frequently do the 180 also, but luckily I must have a short vagina as I can always reach in and grab them 😳

Anyone here remember the Pouch of Douglas thread from many moons ago? You’re not alone OP!

LifesTooShortYOLO · 12/04/2022 17:59

She used a speculum after having a feel first. Not sure of size or anything but would she have been able to have seen it if it was there with a speculum then?

SergeiL · 12/04/2022 18:01

Well doesn’t a speculum allow them to see your cervix? In which case they would also be able to see anything that shouldn’t be there?

I do feel for you OP. I have had this worry so many times.

Thewheelsfalloffthebus · 12/04/2022 18:03

Yep, OP. You’ve had it checked out and the dr checked manually then visually (with the speculum). You are safe to assume it’s not in there. Either it came out when you used the toilet or you removed it and forgot about it. Not a big deal. All sorted now.

howdowemanage · 12/04/2022 18:09

I mean this kindly, but for someone with health anxiety this sort of thread is the worst thing you can do. Notice how you now aren't satisfied with the doctors examination, because what if and difficulty tolerating uncertainty, made worse by reassurance seeking.

I'm about half way through a course of therapy for health anxiety and recommend you look into it OP. It's bloody hard living always thinking 'what if'.

SheSaysShush · 12/04/2022 21:50

@SergeiL

By the way, you shouldn’t be flushing tampons. To *@SheSaysShush*
Yeah, I knew that'd come up.
LifesTooShortYOLO · 13/04/2022 19:54

I did post initially about it when it happened yes.
Apologies if you already read my previous post.
I'm just so anxious about it 😩

I reckon it sounds like she gave you a right thorough furtle OP. Anything untoward up there would have been found!
still curious about the secret pocket and wondering if I have one…

Thank you. My health anxiety is through the roof and I just can't get the what if she missed it thoughts out of my head. My rational side is saying be happy that she's looked and all is ok but it's a vicious circle.

If it makes you feel any better I had a similar experience - I felt a bit feverish and convinced myself I had TSS. I went to a&e in the middle of the night (in the days that you could) and got a doctor who spoke no English. A nurse kind of translates for me. And him. When she handed him the speculum he slowly turned it up and down in his hands with a look of sheer stupification 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 Bit worrying! But in the end - nothing located. Phew!

LifesTooShortYOLO · 15/04/2022 17:35

For anyone that's had a lost tampon and gone to get it checked out have they been able to see it right away? Can they see the Posterior fornix with a speculum examination? I read that's where most tampons get wedged

I think you would be able to smell is by now OP....

ladydimitrescu · 15/04/2022 19:40

You'd know it was there by now - the smell would give it away

LifesTooShortYOLO · 15/04/2022 19:41

What since Monday? So soon you think there would be a smell?

@LifesTooShortYOLO

It's Friday, it's a piece of cotton which would be covered in blood and other bodily fluids. If you left a pad in for 5 days, it would smell awful, no?

Now look what you’ve started op! I can’t believe I read this 😵‍💫 I think we’re better off not knowing too much!

It's not too bad, it's about how they measured the dimensions of the pouch of Douglas.

Monty27 · 16/04/2022 04:01

It's not there OP. They'd have found it if your body hasn't already rejected it. Or even if you'd forgotten you'd removed it or even forgotten to insert it. You'll be ok 💐

mathanxiety · 16/04/2022 04:11

It might have dropped out if it got thoroughly soaked.

It might be stuck in some nook or cranny if your vagina, but it couldn't have got past your cervix, so it isn't floating around inside you like space junk.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 16/04/2022 12:37

@LifesTooShortYOLO

Oh no plse don’t worry. I was just startled at my own ignorance of the female anatomy. I googled pouch of Douglas and ended up reading a surgery research paper. Where they used some very interesting methods to measure sizes of various tubes, pouches etc (of cadavers 😵‍💫) To investigate options for using the vagina. Yes. The vagina. To access various internal bits and bobs. I think they put it a bit more medically 😉
