Tampon lost....

So embarrassing, I put a medium flow tampax compact pearl tampon in earlier today and the string was out nicely.
I've got to remove it now and I can't feel anything no string hanging out, and I've had a little feel just inside and I can't feel anything either.
Is it possible the tampon dropped out when going to the toilet today without me noticing? It had happened a few times before but I've felt it coming out.
I'm so worried I don't know if it's possible it's just disappeared up inside or something?! I haven't put any more tampons in it had sex so is it highly unlikely a tampon would just go up inside on its own?

I couldn't reach my cervix easily with a finger, so a squashed-up tampon could hide up there and I couldn't feel it. I do have a longish vaginal canal though as the nurse always needs to use the longer tool when I have a smear! But my fingers are normal length

Surely given vaginas accommodate penises, which tend to be heck of a lot longer than a finger (hopefully), it's not exactly surprising if someone can't reach all the way up!

I've had this a couple of times. My tampons somehow have the ability to flip 180 degrees so I have nothing to grab and pull on

It will th up there, I have a what I can only describe as a little pouch mine like to hide in

Mine occasionally do the 180 degree turn too. I feel better knowing that it’s not just me!

You'd be surprised. I mean, a cervix can hide pretty well from my speculum when it wants to and there really should not be that many places in there to hide! Especially after childbirth, slight prolapses and normal changes can create corners and angles you would not think possible...

My DSis was convinced she's lost one up there (had been a bit drunk the night before and didn't remember if she'd taken it out) and could feel it - turns out what she could feel was her cervix and there was definitely no tampon (I talked her through the process while getting her to squat and bear down).

I've had to rescue a few lost ones in my job, but generally the smell starts to give away the location if it is in there.

OP, your practice nurse should be able to have a look for you. We are well used to it please don't be embarrassed.

I used to work with someone who got a tampon 'lost' inside and she had to go to get it removed at a&e in the end. As others have said, please don't leave it, OP.

OP if you aren't sure you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by a quick visit to the doctors or walk in clinic. Worst that can happen is a bit of a red face and feeling like a numpty if it's not there, but if it is and you ignore it you can become very poorly very quickly. Nurses see vaginas every day - just get it sorted.

Without going into too much detail, but I was in way past my knuckles. More or less had my whole hand up there. Took ages to get into position, ease in and a fair whack of lube.

I left one in, forgot about it. Must have been a few days when I became aware of an unpleasant odour. I dug around and found a string, pulled it and out it came, the smell was disgusting
Don't worry about it going up in your insides. It won't get past your cervix

I am going to the Nurse tomorrow to check. But I'm worried I'm going to get poorly if it's left in this long if it is in there that is. I put it in at 11am today 🙁

Don't be too anxious, 24 hours will be OK, but it's good you are getting it checked

Mines quite roomy up there, it definitely changed post vaginal birth. It feels like it's changed shape? Feels roomier enough for my tampons to turn 180 degrees, but it can't be that much bigger since I can no longer wear super plus tampons, as they are too uncomfortable.

OP I was going to the loo once and felt an odd sensation which was a tampon that I'd forgotten about for days (end of cycle) expelling itself. it stank 😲
I was relieved it didn't result in TSS

so don't wait that long. go to a hosp that is open 24 hrs. early morning is usually quieter, after 4am. good luck.

True. I'm so embarrassed but I need to check and know for sure. Will the doctor be able to see or feel it even if it's gone up the side of the cervix?
