Tampon lost....

LifesTooShortYOLO · 11/04/2022 16:50

So embarrassing, I put a medium flow tampax compact pearl tampon in earlier today and the string was out nicely.
I've got to remove it now and I can't feel anything no string hanging out, and I've had a little feel just inside and I can't feel anything either.
Is it possible the tampon dropped out when going to the toilet today without me noticing? It had happened a few times before but I've felt it coming out.
I'm so worried I don't know if it's possible it's just disappeared up inside or something?! I haven't put any more tampons in it had sex so is it highly unlikely a tampon would just go up inside on its own?

So just to confirm they can definitely get ‘lost’ up there. So horrendous but I had one up there for 5 weeks. Basically thought I’d removed it and hadn’t, so went about my normal life having sex etc. Only when I started having disgusting symptoms did I go to gp concerned about cervical cancer - nope, just a really old tampon, to say I was mortified is an understatement. GP didn’t really blink and just said that’s much better than cancer. Don’t use tampons anymore as I clearly can’t be trusted!

Rekorderlig88 · 12/04/2022 12:28

Good luck

mushforbrain · 12/04/2022 12:29

There’s a little ‘pocket’ up the side of the cervix apparently so mine had got stuck up there - no way of finding it without equipment!

ThirdElephant · 12/04/2022 12:38

Well, at least you'll know one way or the other soon enough.

EBearhug · 12/04/2022 12:44

Glad you're being seen - this has happened to loads of women. Health care staff will have seen loads of women with lost tampons, so I hope you haven't found it too embarrassing and all is now well.

VerifiedBot2351 · 12/04/2022 14:11

@LifesTooShortYOLO how did you get on?

TheVolturi · 12/04/2022 14:25

Hope it's been retrieved!

CrowAndArrow · 12/04/2022 14:52

Was one there ?

LifesTooShortYOLO · 12/04/2022 16:29

Well lady doctor examined me and said she couldn't feel anything so I think it may have dropped out while going to the toilet yesterday without me noticing.
She would have felt it if she examined me wouldn't she?! There's no where for it to hide is there 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

Did she get the old speculum out?

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 12/04/2022 16:45

Oh gosh just realised how that could read 😳
I don’t mean that was up there too!
Maybe I should be a bit less colloquial.
Did she use a speculum to examine you op?

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 12/04/2022 16:46

Ps. My doctor said it’s pretty common. Sometimes not just the one 😵‍💫

Lifeistooshorttocleanfloors · 12/04/2022 16:47

@4intheCorner

I've had this a couple of times. My tampons somehow have the ability to flip 180 degrees so I have nothing to grab and pull on Confused

It will th up there, I have a what I can only describe as a little pouch mine like to hide in Blush

I've got one of these too 😬

Hoick your finger right up, OP, and have a feel. Tampons can only get so far!

Lifeistooshorttocleanfloors · 12/04/2022 16:48

Ooh sorry - only the first page loaded and I see you're now sorted. Apols.

Haha I read it correctly don't worry 😉 Yes she did will that have helped? And she put a swab up there too to feel my cervix don't know what that was meant to do lol

Oh wow this is what I'm worried about. Did you feel anything at all?
OP posts:
VerifiedBot2351 · 12/04/2022 16:52

Sounds like there is nothing there, so you can breathe easy now. Well done - I can imagine how embarrassing that was for you.

SheWoreYellow · 12/04/2022 16:52

You probably took it out without remembering.

Don’t worry about her having missed it - if you get an awful smell in a few days then you know it’s up there. TSS is rare - we should all be careful, but it’s still very unlikely to happen.

SunshineAndFizz · 12/04/2022 16:58

The exact same thing happened to me, but in my case it was still there. My new boyfriend (now husband) had to get it out as I just could not feel it at all (lucky him). Most embarrassing 'early dating' experience ever.

You've done the right thing getting checked by the nurse x x

LifesTooShortYOLO · 12/04/2022 17:02

So trying to put everything into perspective ( I do have health anxiety which isn't helping this situation 😩)
When I put it in the string was like tucked upwards towards my belly button and all I did was walked a short distance and sat down with friends for a meal and did some light jobs at home. So nothing that I can think would 'make' it go upwards?! No other tampon I inserted to push it up etc.
I sat on the toilet and went for a poo so I'm guessing this is when it may have come out without me noticing.
GP has had a check and can't feel anything
I've checked as best I can but I just can't help but get the feeling out of my head that 'what is it didn't come out' I hate not knowing for sure.
I'm worried about some secret pocket that it's gone into that the doctor or I can't feel.

If the nurse has been checkng with a speculum and swab, I don't think you need to worry. You have no secrets left to the nurse. Wink

SheSaysShush · 12/04/2022 17:18

Everytime I remove a tampon I have to check it's in the loo because I take it out without thinking. Perhaps you removed it.

SergeiL · 12/04/2022 17:33

By the way, you shouldn’t be flushing tampons. To @SheSaysShush

SergeiL · 12/04/2022 17:34

To OP, if you are still worried and the doctor didn’t use a speculum, I would try and see eye nurse?

SergeiL · 12/04/2022 17:34

*the nurse
