Pelvic pain - having a scan

TJJones1972 · 14/09/2019 15:39

Hello. I am having two scans on Tuesday for pelvic pain that could be cysts or the other c. I'm in a lot of pain at the moment and quite terrified about what they may find. I just wondered if anyone has been in a similar situation? I don't know what to think as I'm fairly old for all this! (46)

How is everyone doing?
I keep getting a really sharp quick stabbing pain in my lower right side today.
Has taken my breath away a couple of times.
Still no news in my TV scan...

I had my scan on Saturday afternoon... my pain is generally everywhere but she spent A LOT of time on my right side, said she wasn't allowed to tell me any results and said the doctors would get a report within a week. I'm trying to be calm but I wish I knew.

I'm sorry, Kingfisher, what a shock that must have been. I'm self employed too and I'd be worried about money, which wouldn't help. I hope you recover quickly!

Thoughts are with everyone waiting and otherwise Thanks

@fudgesmummy I’m so sorry to read your news. I’m sorry I’ve not been online these last few days, desperately trying to keep busy.

The gynaecologist from the local hospital just rang me wanting to book me in for a follow up appointment, (he said this was following my gp appointment). so I’ve booked that for 2 weeks time. Is that normal to get that call.

Ultra sound result is Friday.

Thanks everyone,
I’ve got a CT scan tomorrow and more blood tests. It still feels very surreal, like it’s happening to someone else.
Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone waiting for scans and results 🤞

I hope your hospital appointment went okay yesterday, Fudge.

I've just had my results, all seems okay. Swabs and urine normal, uterus seems normal in appearance and texture, 4mm lining which Google says is thin but the doctor wasn't concerned about, ovaries look fine. Doctor isn't going to refer on for any further tests and said I'm probably just very fertile Confused So I'll bow out here.

All the best to everyone Flowers

Fudgesmummy I've had open surgery for the exact same thing. Fingers crossed for you.

Have you @sprouts21?
Please tell me it had a happy ending?
I’m terrified that they are malignant 😢

Hi all. @fudgesmummy I popped on to see if you have any news.

My ultra sound has come back clear, so it looks like it’s that stage of my life. I’ll pop back to see how you are. Thank you for holding my hand x

@kingfisher90 and @AnchorDownDeepBreath great to hear there is no cause for concern with ye. Relax and enjoy the weekend.

@fudgesmummy, hope you are holding up ok.

I had my TV scan this morning. My doctor had the result at lunchtime.

They said there is a 3cm complex cyst on my ovary. But the ovary itself looks fine.

They want me to have another scan in a month to see if it has gone or changed.

If its still there they recommend I see a gynae to discuss having it removed.

Wonderful news @kingfisher90 🙂
@Janjango that sounds very reassuring 🙂

No news yet from the consultant ☹️
I’m so frightened. I keep thinking I would rather be dead than feel like this all the time

So I'm meant to be ovulating tomorrow and have been getting period pains, but I just came over all weird and felt this numbness moving down my legs making me collapse, and I felt dizzy. They feel ok now, but my arms feel weak and face strange. Cant tell if that is because I'm panicking about my legs.

@fudgesmummy mine was borderline. Most are borderline or benign although I know that's not much comfort. I was absolutely convinced mine was serious and I know how frightening it is.

My experience with surgery and the hospital was positive. My only complaint is that although they kept me pain free with morphine patches and other drugs, I was sent home 2 days later with just codeine. It wasn't enough and luckily my gp arranged decent pain medication quickly. Don't feel you have to be brave if the pain medication isn't enough for you.

Afterwards you're going to need a lot of help. You're not going to be able to do much at all. Make sure you have a cushion in the car when you're picked up to put in between your tummy and the seat belt.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions. I found there wasn't much information on line about laparoptomys.

Thank you@sprouts21
The consultant has said they are borderline malignant.
Did you have to have any further treatment afterwards? Chemotherapy etc?

Report
sprouts21 · 05/10/2019 18:57

No. My understanding of borderlines is that it's enough to remove them with surgery. They'll probably talk to you about the option of a full hysterectomy. I found the Hers foundation very helpful and decided to keep things as minimal as possible. I had the cyst, ovary and Fallopian tube removed. The general opinion seems to be that once you've had children your reproductive organs have no purpose. That's not true at all and nobody would suggest that a man has his testicles removed " just in case". Don't be pressured or frightened into being over treated.

Are you seeing a gyno oncologist?

I made a nuisance of myself and hassled the consultants secretary for results which I got quickly. The waiting is terrible and completely unnecessary.

If the scan was normal/ healthy would the sonographer tell you that there and then?
I had a scan on Wednesday, waiting for the results but I'm thinking there must be something or she would have put my mind to rest?
I've had scans before and they told me there was nothing there when they couldn't see anything wrong.
When I had a cyst I had to wait for results.
My pain is right side.
I'm also wondering if it might be a food intolerance or digestive problem, I just know I don't feel right. The bloating is awful and so uncomfortable.
I could see a white patch on the screen when I looked after i got up.
The cyst I had before went away on its own and the Dr said it was probably an ovulation cyst that had not burst, hung around for a while causing me pain. I don't ovulate now because I have an implant and no periods.
I'm early 30s. Trying not to worry myself but I'm sick of being uncomfortable or in pain.

I don’t think they can. Following my scan they just said results will be a week from today, I just assume that if anything was wrong ring I would have got a call before a week Friday. The wait is horrid. I too am having pain just on one side.

Toomanycats99 · 14/10/2019 09:35

Well after assuming it was clear as they were in no hurry to see me apparently I have an enlarged uterus so something is up.

They said no signs of anything else though.

So another referral.

Hi @fudgesmummy, did you get your results? I hope all was OK! I am waiting for my referral for a TV scan

Report
fudgesmummy · 27/11/2019 21:09

Hi @Missdemix
I had my surgery for Stage I ovarian cancer just over 4 weeks ago.
They removed both ovaries and tubes, womb, cervix and appendix.
Oh and 3 ovarian cysts, the largest of which weighed 50 lb.
I lost 3 stone on the operating table!
I’ve got a an appointment this Friday with the surgeon for my post op check and hopefully the results of the biopsies.
I’m keeping everything crossed that surgery has cured the cancer and I won’t have to have any further treatment 🤞
