Pelvic pain - having a scan

96 replies

TJJones1972 · 14/09/2019 15:39

Hello. I am having two scans on Tuesday for pelvic pain that could be cysts or the other c. I'm in a lot of pain at the moment and quite terrified about what they may find. I just wondered if anyone has been in a similar situation? I don't know what to think as I'm fairly old for all this! (46)

I’ve just got back. She concentrated on my left side, before even asking if I had any discomfort or pains. When I confirmed yes, just on my left side she scanned some more on my left, didnt go anywhere near my right.
Now I’m a nervous mess and I’ve got to wait a week for the results.

@kingfisher90

I had that too. She only seemed to scan one side. Didn't ask me anything though. (And that was where the ache is)

Is it only your left that hurts? It is mainly my left.

Report
kingfisher90 · 25/09/2019 17:42

Just my left, but mainly for just once or twice a month during my period . But that’s always been the case. It often will keep me up in the night.

Just back from scan and she thought it all looked healthy. Said endo hard to diagnose and to keep a diary.

So both my GP and a consultant picked up on something around my left side but nothing showing on scan. Could it just be really really painful ovulation and periods? I can feel my left ovary now.

@IceniSky glad they found nothing sinister in the scan.

Oh how lucky you are that you know. I wish I’d gone private now. My friend didn’t have to wait.

Well results are back and I have been asked to book a routine appointment to discuss. I am assuming that means there is something there but nothing I need to be too worried about.......

Well let's hope so anyway as first appointment I can get is 2 1/2 weeks away......

If it helps anyone my dm had a massive 8 month pregnant looking belly was sick everyday had bleeding constantly and all symptoms of ovarian cancer. Her scans showed compex cysts with black mass in and it looked bad news. Her bloods were showing odd too. Eventually she had more bloods. Biopsies a camera in her uterus and more tests and after 2 months she been given the all clear. Nothing wrong they said its just a bad reaction to the coil during menopause. She is 53.

ToomAnycats99 that to me surely is Positive news rather than negative. How old are you? I’m 45.

Toomanycats99 · 27/09/2019 12:25

@kingfisher90 47.

I rang gp to get appointment and she said you always have an appointment after test results. So yes the fact it's routine means should either be something minor or maybe even nothing.

I am wondering if all mine boil down to food intolerance

When all this started I tried cutting fructose out my diet as my daughter is mildly intolerant. It seemed to make a bit of a difference but I wasn't doing it religiously.

I ate something yesterday and bloated within 30minutes and looked at ingredients and fructose was really high up.

I need to try and eat something else I think in a couple of days to see if that triggers it again.

Seems odd that I would develop a food intolerance at my age though!

I'm going to follow up with my GP as my ovary is throbbing, but there is nothing there.

There are so many of us with similar symptoms in our 40s, is it just normal aging pain?

When do you get your results @kingfisher90 ?

Ok,
So I saw The Gynaecologist this morning and she did both an internal and external ultrasound scan.
I have large cysts on both ovaries, she said they are borderline malignant and will have to come out asap
They are too big to remove by keyhole so I will have to have to have major open surgery.
I am still in shock, I only knew about the cysts a week ago and have gone from completely well to seriously ill in just 8 days 😢

Oh no @fudgesmummy

I'm sorry to hear that. When will you have the op - is it soon?

Report
fudgesmummy · 27/09/2019 21:24

She said it will be in the next 5 weeks.
DH and I work together as childminders, we have no other income.
Major surgery will mean 6 weeks off work
Financially we are fucked 😢

Toomanycats99 · 27/09/2019 21:30

Oh bugger.

Will your DH still be able to mind? Can you get a temporary assistant (sorry don't know how it works so forgive me if that's a stupid question)

Janjango · 28/09/2019 12:10

Oh no @fudgesmummy. Your head must be wrecked, with this.
Your health is more important than anything.
Can ye get someone in to help while you are recovering? Would you be able to claim any illness benefit for a few weeks?

How are you @fudgesmummy?

Hi everyone,
Thank you for your replies
The news has completely floored me 😢
We have spoken to all our parents (31 families will be affected) and of course thay have all been lovely and understanding.
I'm worried sick about the surgery, the fear that they are malignant and if it's already spread and money
My whole life has just collapsed around me

@Toomanycats99
No a stupid question in the slightest 🙂
My DH isn’t a childminder in his own right, he is my assistant so can only have 2 hours sole care.
The plan is he will start doing the school runs as soon as I am home from hospital.
The little ones will hopefully come back after 4/5 as soon as I am well enough

Report
fudgesmummy · 29/09/2019 10:58

@Janjango
Not entitled to any benefits etc as self employment
Having someone come and help at lunch time will be a possibility, we have 6 little ones every day and another pair of hands are always welcome 😂

@fudgesmummy

Hopefully they have caught it before it is malignant, a blessing you had the mri for something else and they found it.
