Pelvic pain - having a scan

TJJones1972 · 14/09/2019 15:39

Hello. I am having two scans on Tuesday for pelvic pain that could be cysts or the other c. I'm in a lot of pain at the moment and quite terrified about what they may find. I just wondered if anyone has been in a similar situation? I don't know what to think as I'm fairly old for all this! (46)

I’m sorry you are here janjango. Has the bleeding calmed down to book a fresh appointment,
My heavy flow is my concern over my internal tomorrow, and how it will go,

@tjjones1972 is your scan today?
@mummagirl have you a scan date?

No date yet
Have had a tough time workwise for a few weeks so haven't given much head space to it.
But this thread had allayed many fears 🙂

My GP still hasn't sent the referral letter to my private appointment, and they wont see me without it. I'm really worried they wont get round to it.

Well I had my scan this morning - external and internal. Interns wasn't as bad as I was expecting.

They will be sending results to gp by end of the day.

I asked if there was anything but she wouldn't say anything.......

@IceniSky

How long has your referral letter taken?

Hopefully once you get it the private hospital should be able to fit you in quite quickly. My one seemed to have a time slot every day.

Spoken to the GP office. Finally got the letter done but were going to send it to the CT department?! I'm sure I'm meant to be having an ultrasound. Mine is Thursday.

@Toomanycats99 will you get to see your GP today? I was hoping going private means you are told info at the scan.

@IceniSky

I picked up my letter and just scanned it myself to them.

I had hoped I would find something today at the scan. Not sure if I will hear at the end of the day today or tomorrow. She said she would send today so I guess depends how quick.

@IceniSky its good you got your letter sent on.

I called scan company about doing the TV as im finished my period. They said I need a new referal letter from my doctor. Even though they were the ones who recommended it.

Another day begins .... my ultrasound is this afternoon. BLeeding seems to have calmed down over night, I just want to know what it is. Premenopausal symptoms now of dryness and a bit of a burn when going to the toilet. Wondering if in 2 weeks it will happen all over again!

Please update if anyone hears.

Good luck @kingfisher90!

I hope you get your results today @Toomanycats99.

So my mid cycle bleeding that I thought was my period early only lasted 2 days. No idea what it was. Slept from 7pm last night too as was so exhausted. Pain not as intense.

Argh - I updated to the new iOS last night and it doesn't seem to show the tag names! Hence tagging the wrong kingfisher!

Hi all,
I’m got an appointment with a Gynaecologist on Friday regarding a large cystic mass that has been found in my abdomen.(by accident during an MRI scan for something else)
I’m assuming I will be sent for an internal scan, I have read that a full bladder will be required to give the best images.
I have a very sensitive bladder and know this will be impossible with out having an accident, do you think it would be acceptable to say this to them? The cyst is at least 32 x 39 cms so I don’t imagine they will have any problem spotting it ☹️
It sounds stupid but I am more worried about this aspect of the scan than I am about what they might find ☹️

@fudgesmummy I havent been given any I instructions for my scan. Wonder if the others know?

Toomanycats99 · 25/09/2019 09:15

@fudgesmummy - I had internal and external in the same appointment. The external I needed a full bladder and then they sent me off to the loo before the internal. Which was good as I would have wet myself by the end.....

Hey just jumping on. For TV you don’t need a full bladder. But just go as full as you can get incase it needs to be a normal scan. I’ve had to much water before and they made me go to the loo before they would scan as it would of been to painful for me so don’t worry. Best of luck ladies

@IceniSky I havent yet, my doctor called me last night and said she was emailing the referal so she thinks I should hear from them by tomorrow or friday.
She said from the ultrasound report she would think I would need to have the cyst removed.
@fudgesmummy I had to have a full bladder for my ultrasound last week, Its something to do with when the bladder is full, it pushes the ovaries into a place they are easier to see with the scanner.
Like you i have a sensitive bladder, I was convinced I was going to wet myself on the table as he was pushing the scanner into my tummy. But thankfully I didnt.

I’ve been to the loo this morning, but won’t go again until my scan. There is no way I could hold it all in. I would t be able to walk.
It does say on my letter to go with a full bladder

Janjango · 25/09/2019 12:40

@kingfisher90 if you drink a 1.5 ltr bottle of water about 90 mins before your scan, that should ensure you have a full bladder

@kingfisher90 how is it going? I'm getting mega nervous.
