Hello , I know the "c" word is a very sensitive subject but does anyone have have any personal experiences of cervical cancer ? Symptoms etc , what happened first , how did you feel health wise .

the reason I ask this is I'm seeing a gynaecologist currently and being sent for various tests , gynaecologist has told me there's a chance it's cervical cancer going my my symptoms and deterioration . So look for some advice really . To see if I can relate to anyone else regarding this . Going for the test early next week Said I needed time to get my head round the possibility . I'm only 27 with two children it's such a shock

Am sorry to hear that OP Flowers there is a long running cancer thread on MN - I'll link it for you www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_health/3541493-Cancer-Support-70-Please-post-on-this-thread-not-69-If-you-have-cancer-or-are-undergoing-tests-for-cancer-Rant-rave-scream-cry-whatever-helps-Supportive-lurkers-for-Leslie-welcome-on-69?msgid=86698099#86698099

Am sure you'll find a hand to hold over there with people who are going through/have been through the same as you.

I have a close family member recently diagnose with c/c so if I can help at all do say but I appreciate it is different/more informed coming from the horses' mouth so to speak.

Her symptoms were some bleeding after sex, and then an abnormal smear. She has been diagnosed at stage 1 and is having surgery shortly.

adviceneedesprettyplease · 02/05/2019 20:47

It's terrifying . I'm hoping obviously it's something else , well praying a lot it's something else !

My symptoms are :
•Vomiting , nausea , dizziness
•Fatigue (I have 8 hours solid sleep a night and still wake up with no energy and have to nap in the afternoons)
•Bleeding pretty much every day . Not always a heavy flow sometimes just dribs and drabs throughout the day but pretty much every day in some way
•Bleeding straight after sex and pain
•bloating , abdominal discomfort, pain, diarrhoea every day throughout the day
•Watery discharge , sudden need to wee
•no appetite
•hot flushes
• pressure around lower abdomen

I'm literally terrified. I feel so ill all the time . It's destroying my life I can't be away from a toilet for long and I literally the smallest tasks exhaust me now .

You know when you know somethings just not right ?

that must be all so stressful and debilitating... I can completely imagine how you're feeling "terrified'. Remember though that there can be a range of issues that could result in those symptoms. Plus the stress of it all will/can exacerbate it too.

Flowers

You're in the right place though by going to the GP/gynae.. regardless of the cause you need all those symptoms and hassle out of your life....

adviceneedesprettyplease · 02/05/2019 21:33

Thank you ! I've also had what they think is a fibroid for 2 and a half years now but I'm getting more adamant that they need to look into it more ! I feel like I'm being fobbed off over it xx

Hi OP, I was diagnosed with Stage 2b CC at the beginning of December and experienced practically all of the symptoms you listed. I put off going to a doctor because I knew something was wrong but once I got myself there the NHS were brilliant and I completed treatment at the beginning of March.

It's absolutely terrifying and I cried non stop for weeks whilst waiting for diagnosis and then later treatment.

I am through it now and waiting for my first scans at the end of this month.

Initially the gynaecologist I saw thought it may have been fibroids but that wasn't the case.

All the waiting around is so difficult - I hope you are ok...if you need to know anything else please don't hesitate to ask x

adviceneedesprettyplease · 02/05/2019 23:14

@kittywalks thank you ! I just feel like I get fobbed off all the time by the doctors oh it's nothing see how you get on I've been like this for over a year now so I'm hoping finally I might get some answers ! I just can't go on feeling like this everyday is such a struggle!

OP posts:
adviceneedesprettyplease · 02/05/2019 23:17

I had my last smear 3 years ago and that showed up no abnormal cells. Did you have a smear previously that showed nothing wrong ? They noticed the "fibroid" when I was pregnant 2 years ago they just said "it will go away " and all these horrible symptoms have developed since . Not sure if it's to do with the "fibroid" but we will see ! Heads just battered with it all x

@adviceneedesprettyplease my smear was overdue, I think by a year, but maybe a little more. I had suffered badly with very heavy periods and was told I was very anaemia, given iron tablets but no further investigations (that was 4 years ago) then last autumn I decided I couldn't cope with feeling so drained....over the summer the watery discharge started (tmi sorry) and I knew I could t bury my head in the sand anymore.

Obviously it has been the most scary 6 months of my life, but I am feeling better than I have felt in years. Treatment for CC is very effective now.

Make sure you keep pushing to get your diagnosis - whatever it maybe, and in the meantime look after yourself, eat well if possible...I can't say don't worry because there is no other worry like it!

Thinking of you OP and if you need any info please ask x

adviceneedesprettyplease · 03/05/2019 08:01

GiveMeFood12 · 03/05/2019 08:07

I had c/c
Had a few of the symptoms you posed; but not all of them

I had never had a smear test - oh the shame - and within 6 weeks of having my first ever smear I was in having the op to remove it

Here if you need to talk Smile

I also had a young daughter so was more concerned about leaving her if there worst were to happen; but the NHS were amazing! So thankful Thanks

kittywalks · 03/05/2019 08:10

@GiveMeFood12 I think it's too easy for us put ourselves last and put something like a smear test to the bottom of the list.

Hope you are doing well Smile

GiveMeFood12 · 03/05/2019 08:14

@kittywalks we definitely do put ourselves last

I got my all clear a few weeks ago thank god! Smile
Hope you're doing ok x

adviceneedesprettyplease · 03/05/2019 08:34

It's just not a very pleasant thing a smear is it . Very invasive x

kittywalks · 03/05/2019 08:51

@GiveMeFood12 Amazing news, congratulations!

@adviceneedesprettyplease I am doing great thank you - apprehensive about the scans and pray that I get the news we have been praying for Smile. When is your next appointment with he doctor?

kittywalks · 03/05/2019 08:54

@adviceneedesprettyplease I replied to a different message sorry Blush. Agreed the smear does seem invasive but putting it in perspective it's nothing is it - I think we build things up in our minds to be worse than they actually are.

I hope your appointment comes through quickly and you can move past this worry some time.

adviceneedesprettyplease · 03/05/2019 09:04

I've got an appointment on Tuesday morning not sure what's going to happen at it ! Just have to wait and see. I've had to come back to bed this morning I feel so ill xx

OP posts:
BlueMerchant · 03/05/2019 09:13

Have you had the transvaginal scan? Sorry if you've mentioned it. Haven't fully read back? I had one on Tues. Am now waiting for lower abdomen scan.
My symptoms are typical of ovarian cancer. Had the CA25 blood test that came back normal which is a good sign though.

adviceneedesprettyplease · 03/05/2019 09:16

Is that where they use a camera inside my vagina bit like an early pregnancy scan ? If so I'm booked in for one next Friday .

OP posts:
adviceneedesprettyplease · 03/05/2019 09:18

Aside from all my symptoms it's like I can feel something in my womb area it's like a pressure, bloating feeling but feels like there's something actually there . A bit like the feeling of having a baby in your tummy but obviously I'm not pregnant so it's not that . I can't physically feel it from the outside to touch but I can feel it from the inside if that makes sense ? 🤔🙄

OP posts:
kittywalks · 03/05/2019 09:31

@BlueMerchant Sorry to hear that - am thinking of you x

@adviceneedesprettyplease I definitely felt bloated in my lower tummy, so much so that I had to wear a pad everyday as I became a little incontinent. My lower tummy felt very tender and heavy, aches when I walked etc

adviceneedesprettyplease · 03/05/2019 09:34

@kittywalks I'm not incontinent as of yet but I do suddenly need a wee often out of nowhere ! I have to wear a pad every day due to the bleeding some days I bleed as a flow and some days it's when I wipe after I've been for a wee . It's draining . I've forgotten what it's like to feel normal 😂 xx

OP posts:
adviceneedesprettyplease · 03/05/2019 09:47

It's getting to the point I just want to cry all the time I can't cope with feeling like this any more xx

OP posts:
kittywalks · 03/05/2019 10:08

@adviceneedesprettyplease I was the same, between the daily bleeding, slight incontinence and discharge along with monthly periods I felt like I was falling to bits! GLAMOROUS Blush

Sorry to hear you are back in bed, I think the worry can make you ill...between diagnosis and treatment starting I lost over a stone. My oncologist gave me a stern talking to, made it clear that if I didn't maintain or put on weight then they couldn't continue with treatment as my body wouldn't be strong enough.

It's little comfort I know but you are being seen to - you are going to get the attention you need and whatever the outcome you will get the treatment you need. X
