Hello , I know the "c" word is a very sensitive subject but does anyone have have any personal experiences of cervical cancer ? Symptoms etc , what happened first , how did you feel health wise .

the reason I ask this is I'm seeing a gynaecologist currently and being sent for various tests , gynaecologist has told me there's a chance it's cervical cancer going my my symptoms and deterioration . So look for some advice really . To see if I can relate to anyone else regarding this . Going for the test early next week Said I needed time to get my head round the possibility . I'm only 27 with two children it's such a shock

@BlueMerchant I saw a piece on tv recently about ovarian cancer and apparently the symptoms are less obvious than CC? Do you mind me asking what your symptoms are? X

adviceneedesprettyplease · 03/05/2019 10:11

Thanks lovely . I just want it all sorted . I'm a mum I don't have time to be ill , I have kids to sort and a house to run 🤔

@adviceneedesprettyplease I totally understand, I have 2 kids and my oldest is about to sit his GCSEs, and I am worried as he is very sensitive and took the news badly initially. My scans are during his exams so the timing is awful Sad.

Life is so busy isn't it, I was working FT and my husband works long hours.....kids have a lot on in the evenings.

You will get through this - hopefully next week will take you a step closer to finding out what the problem is x

BlueMerchant · 03/05/2019 12:45

kittywalks
Slight incontinence/pink discharge.
Unable to have intercourse due to unbearable pain.
Lower pelvic pain and pressure constantly.
Feeling like there is 'something' in my womb (weird feeling I can't explain well). After walking or standing for any length of time I can feel an increase in the pressure and a pulling- almost as if something is going to fall out of me.
Regulsr almost daily loose stools and I'm also getting a lot of heartburn.

adviceneedesprettyplease · 03/05/2019 12:49

Very similar to symptoms I have @BlueMerchant . I get that feeling of something in my Stomach !

adviceneedesprettyplease · 03/05/2019 12:49

@BlueMerchant I mean in my womb . Not stomach

So sorry you are also going through this.
My smear 2years ago came back normal.
My symptoms started sporadically about 8 months ago and gradually got to being constant. I had the Ca 125 on my second G.P visit as ovarian cancer was mentioned (cervical cancer was and never has been mentioned!?!). The test was normal which is a good sign but not conclusive but still has made me a little less worried. Vaginal swabs came back normal. I'm now waiting for the lower abdomen scan to investigate further.
I would ask about the ca125 and whether it is relevant in your circumstances or maybe the test has already been done.?

adviceneedesprettyplease · 03/05/2019 13:21

@BlueMerchant not that test has not been done but il add it to my list of questions to ask when I go on Tuesday . My smear was clear 3 years ago . My next ones due but the doctors wouldn't do it as you can't have it done when bleeding . Which I understand but also seems a bit silly considering I bleed all the time so surely that's more reason to do a smear . I'm sure the hospital will do one though x

Hi OP
Jo's Trust is a useful source of information and support. www.jostrust.org.uk

kittywalks · 03/05/2019 20:58

@adviceneedesprettyplease The forum on the Jo's trust website is brilliant - I have used it a lot.

Hope your pains have settled x

adviceneedesprettyplease · 04/05/2019 19:57

Thanks girls ! Il have a look . Had another day in bed today the pains in my stomach are really bad . Does anyone know if they carry on if I would be silly to go the local a&e? I no it's not an emergency but I'm in a lot of pain with them x

OP posts:
kittywalks · 04/05/2019 21:25

@adviceneedesprettyplease I don't think that would be silly at all.

Why don't you call 111 if in doubt?

Sorry to hear you aren't well today, keep us updated x

adviceneedesprettyplease · 04/05/2019 21:44

Thank you @kittywalks I don't think it will be long before my nausea turns into actual vomiting 🙄 struggling to keep it under control now x

OP posts:
kittywalks · 04/05/2019 21:51

@adviceneedesprettyplease you can't cope all weekend like this - you need to get some help x

adviceneedesprettyplease · 04/05/2019 22:04

I've rang 111 and they've told me to lie in the foetal position with a hot water bottle on my tummy and to sip water . They said if that doesn't work to go up to a&e for examination . I'm not in horrific pain . I just feel bloody dreadful . Maybe I'm coming down with a virus or something ontop of my usual ailments 😂

OP posts:
kittywalks · 04/05/2019 22:41

@adviceneedesprettyplease are you able to take any painkillers? I did suffer with period pains before treatment started and found that a hot water bottle and paracetamol did the trick.

You must feel miserable, but you have an appt on Tuesday and hopefully things will move quickly from then.

How long since you got the gynae referral? From being referred by my doctor to receiving the diagnosis it was probably no longer than 5/6 weeks - it would have been sooner but I had to postpone an appt due to the arrival of my period.
X

adviceneedesprettyplease · 04/05/2019 23:07

Nearly 2 weeks since gynae referral . Really not looking forward to being examined whilst bleeding (I don't really stop so I most likely will be ) just makes me feel icky all the time x

OP posts:
adviceneedesprettyplease · 04/05/2019 23:07

@kittywalks what treatment did you have if you don't mind me asking ?

OP posts:
kittywalks · 05/05/2019 07:11

I understand - I had 2 examinations whilst bleeding and it was on the second (colonoscopy) I was told to prepare myself for bad news.

It was a week later I received a diagnosis, but within that week I was called for an MRI.

It's not pleasant, but it's got to be done to get you on the road to wellness.

I had 5 weeks of radiotherapy with chemotherapy once each week too. Then at the very end I had 3 sessions of brachytherapy (which is an internal radiotherapy).
X

adviceneedesprettyplease · 05/05/2019 08:18

How did the chemo and radiation make you feel ? I've heard lots of horror stories about vomiting dizziness pain etc @@kittywalks

OP posts:
kittywalks · 05/05/2019 08:44

Honestly? It was tough, but more so mentally.

I found so many tips on the Jo's trust forums on how to prepare my body for the treatment - it was really useful - I still use it now if something pops into my mind, there is always someone on there who has asked something similar.

I was given anti sickness meds so didn't feel too bad, but it was very tiring. I know other women I met felt worse than I did and I do feel lucky in that respect.

You need to remember that once you see a gynaecologist you may not have what I was diagnosed with, until you get to that point though, it's such a big mental burden x

adviceneedesprettyplease · 05/05/2019 08:55

I think I'm just trying to prepare for worst case scenario because then anything else is a "bonus" looking back I should of gone and got checked out about 9months ago when the bleeding started constantly . But for some reason I didn't think much of it as we had other things going on in our lives .

My tummy's in a bad way today only way I can describe it is you know when you first give birth and you feel all sore and painy etc afterwards and like your wombs been rummaged about it ? It's that feeling @kittywalks

OP posts:
kittywalks · 05/05/2019 09:53

@adviceneedesprettyplease I know that feeling well!

I was much the same, mentally prepared myself for the worst news.

I had been back and forth to the doctor over a few years with my symptoms, had blood tests to be told I had low iron and prescribed tablets and also Vit D tablets....thinking back I wonder if what I originally saw the doctor for 4 years ago was the beginning of all this.

Anyway, you are being seen now and hopefully you will get a diagnosis soon.

adviceneedesprettyplease · 05/05/2019 09:59

It's funny you should say that , before I started bleeding constantly I had been the doctors with fatigue , etc and they said it was most likely fibromyalgia they blood tested me and said that I needed to take vitamin d tablets as I had a deficiency . I wonder also if that was the start of these current problems x
